At the heart of the Milky Way, a cluster of stars has baffled scientists, appearing as if they are forever young. A new theory proposes a mind-bending explanation that could rewrite our understanding of stellar evolution: These stars could be feeding off dark matter – powered indefinitely by the most mysterious substance in the universe.
Studying these objects may lead to breakthroughs in our understanding of dark matter and the universe itself. Some even speculate that dark matter may even organize into forms of dark life. The only way to know for sure is to keep looking.

A clip from The Human Future, coming later this summer.Reviving mankind from extinctionmelodysheep2023-05-18 | If mankind went extinct, could we be revived? It’s not out of the question. If another intelligent species evolved over millions of years, there’s a chance they could recover enough genetic material to resurrect us, much like how humans have begun to experiment with de-extinction of wooly mammoths. They could learn much about us biologically. But in 5 million years, all remnants of our cities will be destroyed by nature, and evidence of our culture will be lost — except in the case of the Voyager golden record, floating safely through empty space, trillions of miles away by then.

Far beyond Earth, a new type of alien water planet could be speckling our galaxy by the billions, like cosmic dew drops.
These “Hycean Planets” range up to ten times the mass of the Earth, containing mega-oceans that could stretch down hundreds of kilometers.
Their extreme pressures keep their water liquid across a wide range of temperatures, broadening the zone in which they could host life. And researchers now believe that these worlds are extremely common in the universe.
Soon we will get our first peek into the atmosphere of a possible Hycean world, K2-18b, thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope. What secrets will these ocean worlds reveal? Is something out there, swimming freely in an ocean more vast that we can imagine?WATER WORLDS: Hideouts for Alien Life?melodysheep2023-04-28 | Far beyond Earth, a new type of alien water planet could be speckling our galaxy by the billions, like cosmic dew drops.

Thanks to my additional supporters: dropbox.com/s/7kfms6i8fsoifqe/Pareon-supporters.rtf?dl=0Has A.I. Discovered Alien Life?melodysheep2023-01-30 | New signals from deep space! Astronomers just announced the discovery of 8 potentially alien radio signals, using machine learning to comb through old data sets.
These signals came from 5 different stars, all within 90 light years of Earth.
One of them came from a G-type star, just like our own sun. Another one mysteriously stopped and reappeared 3 days later. And all were narrowband signals, which are rarely produced by natural sources.
While follow-up observations have not yet confirmed these signals, intensive further study is now underway – and this new machine learning approach to combing signal data could radically accelerate the search for alien intelligence.
It remains to be seen what these signals are. But this breakthrough suggests that the question of “are we alone?” may not be answered by us humans, but by our machines.

MelodysheepLord of the Rings: This Insane Planet Puts Saturns Rings to Shamemelodysheep2023-01-17 | This massive planet will melt your brain 🤯. 434 light years from earth, the newborn world J1407B has a ring system that extends nearly 120,000,000 KM, making it 200x bigger than Saturn’s rings.
If Saturn’s were this massive, they would be easily visible from Earth and appear bigger than the full moon in the night sky.
One day, these rings will condense into a large family of moons, possibly hundreds of them, much like Saturn and Jupiter have today. Perhaps these planets were once home to enormous ring systems in their youth as well.

2,300 light years away, an ancient pulsar harbors 3 potential zombie worlds: Draugr, Phobetor, and Poltergeist. The intense X-ray radiation from their dead star, combined with the strobing light of the spinning pulsar poring over the surface, would make these planets appear truly alien to anyone who dares to visit.
If you could visit anywhere in the galaxy, where would you go?
Meet the Navis III: An imaginary ship that will take you anywhere in the Milky Way. Its maiden voyage will send you on a tour of the wildest planets humanity has yet discovered: worlds that defy belief, from planetary oases to scorching hot gas giants with clouds made of metal.
This interstellar journey will give us a glimpse into how deep nature’s imagination goes…. and blaze a path for future pioneers, who might one day plant their flags on landscapes we can hardly imagine. ---- Story, visual effects, music & Sound by melodysheep (John D. In this short film created with generative art, we explore how artificial intelligence sees the universe, its creators, and its potential futures. I believe the emergence of artistic A.I. has touched off a new era for art that could be as profound as the first cave paintings, 50,000 years ago. If these artistic capabilities are possible after only a few decades of A.I., research, what will the next 50,000 years hold? What will we become?

But that perspective is an illusion; in reality, there are millions of world-shattering events happening every instant across the cosmos. This short film explores just how much is going on every moment in our ridiculously enormous universe.
In the fraction of a second it takes to blink your eyes, thousands of stars will be born, hundreds will explode and die, millions of planets will form, and our universe will expand by half a million kilometers in diameter.
And these numbers only account for the observable universe -- not for what could be happening beyond, where some scientists believe there could be an infinite expanse of space.
Please note that some of the statistics in this video are wild estimations, and in some cases could be off by orders of magnitude. For a list of sources see below.

What if there was a museum that contained every type of life form in the universe? This experience takes you on a tour through the possible forms alien life might take, from the eerily familiar to the utterly exotic, ranging from the inside of the Earth to the most hostile corners of the universe.
New research is upending our idea of life and where it could be hiding: not just on Earth-like planets, where beings could mimic what our planet has produced, but in far flung places like the hearts of dead stars and the rings of gas giant planets. Nowhere in the universe is off limits.
Only when we know what else is out there will we truly know ourselves. This thought experiment will give us a glimpse into what could be out there, how we might find it, and just how far nature’s imagination might stretch.

Who's out there? To have any hope of finding alien life, we need to know what we're looking for. This experience will take you to far off planets and places in the universe to explore some of the most tantalizing questions in science: what would alien life be like? What forms are possible under the laws of nature? How weird could it get?
The latest research is offering mind-blowing possibilities.
Life Beyond Chapter 2 drops this Fall. Stay tuned.
The Moon has drawn out our sense of wonder since before we were fully human. Where did it come from? What secrets are written in its rocks? For most of our history, its story was cloaked in myth and mystery. Only now are the vivid details coming into focus.
This video takes you back 4.5 billion years to witness the dramatic ways which the moon could have formed, according to the latest mind-blowing theories. By reading the clues written in Moon rocks, we are closer than ever to knowing its full story. But the Moon still holds its secrets close. What else is it hiding?

At age 10, armed with a crappy computer mic and windows ’95, I stayed up late pitching my voice up and down, recording random shit around the house and crafting weird sonic atmospheres. It’s clear now how these early childhood experiments laid the foundation for my musical style and creative path.
My new album is a modern expression of that childhood obsession - a juicy musical blend of sounds from nature, electronics, everyday life, and pop culture, interlaced with wisdom from musicians and philosophers.
But in the end, using words to describe music is pointless. The only way to understand it is to experience it. Please have a listen for yourself.

Are we alone? Chapter 1 of this experience takes you to alien worlds and distant places in time and space, in search of where alien life might be hiding and what our place is within the history of life. After generations of wondering, the truth is finally within our reach. New research and technologies have brought us closer than ever to an answer - only a few decades in the eyes of some NASA scientists.
The search has led to new discoveries that will blow your mind wide open and give a profound new perspective on human life. The deeper we look, the deeper we see into nature's imagination, and the more we learn about ourselves. I hope stewing on these thoughts tickles your brain as deeply as it does mine.

I owe everything to you guys - my deepest thanks to everyone who has followed along on this weird and wild creative journey and made the whole thing possible.
I kinda cringe at the quality of those old videos, but the spirit is much the same, and I hope you dig this little nostalgic trip back through the past decade.
I always thought my dream job would be a musician or film composer. But this trip has taught me that filmmaking is where my passion is strongest. Exploring the endless possible synergies between visuals, music, sound, and thought will keep me occupied for a lifetime. I am slowly phasing out the use of auto-tune as I gear up for the next phase in this creative journey, which will be to deliver truly mind-bending, sensory rich experiences that explore the frontiers of human knowledge.
This journey is just beginning. Big things are in store. I would love for you to join me for the next 10 years.

amara.org/v/pNPZTimelapse of a Mars Rovermelodysheep2019-05-01 | Using raw rover imagery and the sound of actual wind on Mars, I painted this little portrait of Opportunity, our faithful little martian rover friend that was lost earlier this year. Losing a rover feels a little like losing a pet. But for all that it accomplished, and for our ability to revel in all the awesome images it collected over its lifetime, its end is bittersweet. Oppy traveled 28 miles on Mars over a span of 14 years - an amazing feat of engineering and human ambition.
After sifting through thousands of raw Mars images for hours and hours, I have developed a strange sense of Mars as a real place I have been, riding alongside this little rover that could, making laps across rocky martian plains. My hope is this little portrait gives you a glimpse of that same feeling. Still can't believe we put a vehicle on mars that lasted almost 15 years. I don’t even expect my car to run that long. Humans are pretty rad sometimes.

This experience takes us on a journey to the end of time, trillions of years into the future, to discover what the fate of our planet and our universe may ultimately be.
We start in 2019 and travel exponentially through time, witnessing the future of Earth, the death of the sun, the end of all stars, proton decay, zombie galaxies, possible future civilizations, exploding black holes, the effects of dark energy, alternate universes, the final fate of the cosmos - to name a few.
This is a picture of the future as painted by modern science - a picture that will surely evolve over time as we dig for more clues to how our story will unfold. Much of the science is very recent - and new puzzle pieces are still waiting to be found.
To me, this overhead view of time gives a profound perspective - that we are living inside the hot flash of the Big Bang, the perfect moment to soak in the sights and sounds of a universe in its glory days, before it all fades away. Although the end will eventually come, we have a practical infinity of time to play with if we play our cards right. The future may look bleak, but we have enormous potential as a species.
