The animation, music and story all come together really beautifully here. Ever since I saw the Owl House I've wanted to do a music/orchestral thing and this scene between Luz and Amity was just too perfect. 🏳️🌈 I'm happy with the results. I had a tooon of problems in mixing, it never sounded quite right and it still really doesn't to me. At least it's ways better now than the first few versions lol. There'll probably be some more Owl House orchestrations coming, since I adore this show so much. I've been working on a cover of the outro music, but haven't quite been able to crack that one yet. But I am proud of myself of actually finishing this track, since that's a thing I maybe don't really often to. I really wanted to make this, and basically just make a clean version of the song without the sound effects, and I did! Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts || Epic Orchestral Version (Kalamity Music) Kalamity Music 2024-01-10 | Support me on Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/kalamitymusicKipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts is an incredible animated show over on Netflix, that explores a postapocalyptic world where mutes (mutated animals) reign and humans live in bunkers. It's animated by Studio Mir, the same studio that did the Legend of Korra and it shows. It's drop dead gorgeous.Music is a major theme in this show, almost every episode will have some moment centered around a song. It flawlessly integrates songs from different artists, and has a great original score too.This video is a cover of the shows main theme that plays in the intro, and the Season 3 ending. I figured it was finally time to pay tribute to this wonderful show so I made this epic orchestral cover of the intro! I was particularly influenced by Segun Akinola's incredible and underrated score for Doctor Who, and enjoyed dipping my toes in a slightly different style for this one. Nimonas Theme - Epic Emotional Orchestral Cover || Netflixs NIMONA Kalamity Music 2023-07-12 | Support me on Ko-Fi: ko-fi.com/kalamitymusicNimona is a movie that kind of came out of nowhere for me. I wasn't aware of ND Stevenson's book, and the uphill battle the movie fought to be made. But here it is and I really enjoyed it! More than that it hit really close to home personally, as a trans person myself. I made a lot of use of vocals in this orchestration. I'm especially happy with how the choir turned out, it does really help with the whole epic sound. There's also the solo vocals that play during parts, which is hard to make sound realistic. I think it sounds pretty good, but it'll always be limited due to being entirely digital. I should just learn how to sing at some point lolChristoph Beck's score for this movie was phenomenal, so here is a very emotional epic orchestral cover of Nimona's theme (the theme that plays in her flashback with Gloreth, and her theme in other parts of the movie :D). I am also running a Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Campaign within the world. Here's a little passage describing the world, I'm no writer so don't judge me on it haha."A sea of clouds stretches out to the horizon, bathing in the deep orange hues of a sunset. Silhouetted against the sun are floating rocks, or islands rather, luscious with life and greenery. Wooden ships traverse between these havens of life, gliding over the unfathomable drop below without a worry in the world. Welcome to Eximia."While composing this song I wrote most of the melody in the Mixolydian mode. It just has this incredibly magical and fantastical feel that perfectly matches the vibe I'm going for with this world. Most of it is optimistic and bright, but I also wrote in a darker section that reflects Eximia's secrets and monsters. My previous cover I did of the scene was one of the first cartoon covers I did, and also the first video on my channel that gained a lot of traction! Because of that I really wanted to revisit that song for this massive project.This is actually the second version of the track I composed for the medley, the first one I made I was ultimately unhappy with and decided to scrap it (altho it is out there somewhere 👀). The decision to scrap the old track however, was reaaally late lmao. As in less than a week before the medley premiered. I have this hidden superpower tho where if I'm really motivated I can create 80% of a song within one night so I used that to my advantage here.
