Lots of ideas and video editing tricks were thrown in to hopefully make these 36 minutes feel more than just text on a screen.The original intention was actually to make a translation video of the lyrics. Unfortunately, I've realized that my English isn't nearly good enough to do justice to the poetic word choices that were used in the German lyrics. On top of that, to grant the listener some breathing room after long songs, I took a couple intermissions to preserve the progressive energy of the original albums as best as I could.This video is an extended version of a long-track megamix I made a couple years ago, as Finsterforst have recently released their fifth album. I contemplated just adding its 36-minute closing track "Ecce Homo", but the more I thought about it the more I realized that would do injustice to a huge portion of the many other timeless classics the band has composed. No big meaning behind this "song", if you can even call it that. It's just 10 minutes of various layers of humming and sorry attempts at singing turned into a sort-of meditative drone composition. No instruments, just voice – A-Capella Drone, if you will.If anyone cares, most of this was done using the "Paulstretch" plugin. Try it, it's amazing to see what crazy results it spits out!

Having some room to play with, I took the respective intermission songs (except for the intro song) to create one smooth longplayer that still keeps the progressive energy of the original. Nightwish - The Greatest Show on Earth (without Richard Dawkins Spoken Words) Selbi 2015-03-30 | The closing song of Nightwish's most recent album, "Endless Forms Most Beautiful", is this 24-minute epic. Prior to release, there was some controversy around the feature of somewhat infamous atheist Richard Dawkins on this album, who would have a few guest appearances in form of spoken words."The Greatest Show on Earth" features three of these spoken passages, where he talks about the beauty of life and how we are the lucky ones to live. This video edited those segments out using the instrumental version of the Special Edition.Note:I personally don't have a problem with Richard Dawkins at all and I even found what he said rather inspirational. However, I dislike spoken words in music after the first few listens, because they pull me out of the song's immersion. So for me, this is more of a "musically improved" version, rather than an ethics debate.
