CineGuru MAX is a comprehensive toolset for making your own in-game cinematics in GameGuru MAX. Building on the incredible success of the original CineGuru, CineGuru MAX leverages dynamic lua and MAX's visual logic system to make it easier-to-use and more powerful. It includes new features and markers not present in the original CineGuru, and this map shows off examples of all the features in action.

The Replicore is a chamber capable of creating virtual reality environment you can see, smell, and touch. You play as William, the first beta tester of the system, charged with playing through a series of demo games generated inside the chamber. Unfortunately, your play tests start to go horribly wrong, unleashed terribly creatures intent on wiping out the developers!
Released in 2007, Replicore was sold commercially. At first glance, it appears to be a way of tying to many disparate themes of stock FPSC media together into one game. But digging a little deeper reveals an inventive and entertaining project with an engaging story and some fun action. Great stuff!

The infamous Nvidia competition of 2007 gave us many memorable FPSC games, several of which we've already played on this series. Today we're looking at another entry, X-Cop22, which TGC themselves rated highly. But does it live up to expectations? Let's find out...

FPS Creator went through a renaissance in the early to mid 2010s with the rise in popularity of minimalist indie horror games. Perhaps the most well-known example is Phobia 1.5: The Fear of the Darkness, a chilling horror puzzle game set in a dilapidated mansion, made by Finnish developer Jonez Games.
Driven to seek shelter after your car breaks down in the snowstorm, you take refuse in an abandoned and isolated mansion...only to slowly realise you are not alone. Whilst searching for a way home, you gradually uncover the house's mysteries and tragic past.

By 2007, TheGameCreators had turned their attention to developing a new FPS Creator that could take advantage of the latest DirectX10 graphical techniques. Released in 2008, and initially exclusive to Windows Vista, FPS Creator X10 was a short-lived attempt to allow novices to create high-fidelity FPS games with ease. The high system requirements, lower uptake, and overall bugginess of the software ultimately proved to be its downfall, and few games were ever released with it.
Space Warrior is a sci-fi shooter made in FPS Creator X10 years after it was abandoned. It's a rare example - possibly the only example - of an FPS Creator X10 game that was actually released, and gives a fascinating insight into the unique selling points of the engine, and why it ultimately failed.

No Sequel For You is a half-finished spy game I entered into the sixth game design contest organised by members of the GameGuru community. The theme was "filthy rich", meaning you had to make a game - in any engine - that made you feel wealthy and important.
The level include lots of custom characters, some innovative gameplay courtesy of some cool scripts from AmenMoses, and AI-generated menu art and voice actors.
No idea if I'll carry this project on. It's got potential, but it also nearly drove me insane and made me need a break from GameGuru for a while!

For almost 25 years, British software company TheGameCreators have been empowering would-be game developers with their products. Titles like DarkBASIC, FPS Creator, and GameGuru have spawned countless games. Yet their software has also often drawn as much criticism as praise, and today the future of their latest product, GameGuru MAX, remains uncertain.
TheGameCreators vs. The Fans is a feature-length documentary telling the story of how one man set out to change the world of indie game development. It charts the rise and fall of his products, the founding of a loyal community of fans, and the backlash and controversies TheGameCreators have encountered along the way.

Ignite is a horror puzzle game in which your survival depends on you keeping a flame alight. Developed on and off between 2019 and 2021 in Game Guru, the game presented several huge technical hurdles which could not have been overcome without the help of AmenMoses. I lost enthusiasm shortly after producing this three level build in May 2021. But I've decided to release Ignite to the public today because, if I ever return to the project, I figured your feedback might be helpful.
Leave your feedback on this video, or on the Discord thread: discord.com/channels/332652927082692609/1065699288589549648
Features:
- Custom weapons system coded by AmenMoses
- Realistic fire decals (made from real footage I shot of flaming torches)
- Collectable scrolls (the image they reveal is placeholder art in this demo, would be different for the full game)
- Readable notes
- Combination lock puzzle
- Foreboding ambience and a focus on atmospheric lighting.
Known issues:
- Users with graphics cards with 4GB of VRAM or less may struggle to load the third level. If this happens to you, you can try editing the line "standalonefreememorybetweenlevels" in the setup.ini to "1".
- Dying on level three can sometimes crash the game.
- Sprites don't scale correctly on non-standard aspect ratios like 32:9.
- Falling into water is meant to kill you, but for some reason it doesn't in this build.
- Flashlight is still enabled, which we meant to comment out, but forgot...whoops!

My quest to find innovative uses of FPS Creator has this week led me to a medieval fantasy game called Blood of the Divines, which was released in two parts back in 2011. FPS Creator has a surprising amount of medieval and fantasy content released for it over the years both in official model packs and community assets. The blending of first person shooter mechanics with a medieval setting led to a handful of unique games like Blood of the Divines that offered a welcome break from the deluge of sci-fi and zombie shooters coming out the community at the time. But is it any good? Let's find out.

One of the highlights of the old FPSC community was its creativity. We often saw passionate developers pushing this flawed little game engine to make ambitious games set in all sorts of different time periods and locales. Today we play one of the most unique FPSC games from those early years, The Principality of Mars - a steampunk tale of interplanetary war, espionage, and patriotism. While the execution is far from perfect, I admire the vision and it's very memorable.

We haven't played a lot of WWII games so far on this series so I was curious to try Operation Ubersoldat, especially since it was once a commercial product sold for money (it's still on sale today on GamersGate). Does this 11-year-old game hold up? Does it harken back to the classic era of WWII shooters? Or is it an underwhelming cash-grab that makes use of a lot of FPSC's stock assets. Let's find out.
Also please forgive me; I messed up the recording and shot the whole episode in 25fps rather than the normal 60. Any jerkiness in the footage is most likely caused by that and not performance issues with the game itself.

A shorter episode than normal but a game worth your time nonetheless, this atmospheric little sci-fi horror game is one of the few FPSC games to give me a genuine fright!
For me, this game only ran at 1680 x 1050 with textures set to medium.
