Elijah Render 4/16 (First export needs audio YO) Loneclones Dumpster Zone 2020-11-06 | This was first rough cut put together of Elijah Lee by the director Aamuro, since he had the hard drive with all the footage and we were all separated by the pandemic. It was a months long process to send the drive to my house and then for me to send it back to Aamuro.No sound effects, no music, just the audio recorded on set. Also, all the audio in the desert had to be ADR because it was too windy, which we figured would happen.
Eljah Render 10/23 Loneclones Dumpster Zone 2020-11-06 | This is a rough cut that we sent to each other for feedback before a lot of the final elements that tied it together were implemented. We didn't have final sound design, mixing, the John Wayne sequence, or animation of the cactus lips outside of a preliminary test.For me, the thing that really kicked my ass into high gear between this and the final cut was that I flew home for a couple days and had access to a much more powerful desktop computer that could smoothly and quickly play the timeline in Premiere. The second I got my hands on the computer I sat down for 12 hours over the course of election night and got it almost to the finish line before passing out and making some final changes later that day.
Elijah Render 6/30 Loneclones Dumpster Zone 2020-11-06 | This was one of my passes at the project, where after receiving the rough cut I put in some preliminary sound design and, more notably, the first iteration of Papa Cactus' Dialogue when I was still playing him with the Annoying Orange style mouths. Aamuro did another pass adding some mood stingers and the movie footage in beginning, on top of some additional small cacti he shot at his house over a thousand miles away from the desert we shot in (hence why we later added the Blackmagic logo on the end, to flex as much as possible). We actually did have a color grade that was pretty close to the final footage (minus the green-tinted sky), but my laptop literally couldn't handle the extra layer on top of the 6k footage in the timeline so I disabled it to make it workable. Later on I learned how to make proxies and that eased things up a bit.We knew we wanted to have an illustrated John Wayne at this point but didn't know how big a moment we wanted it to become and didn't have any dialogue written out yet.

Off Campus (Super 8 Test Footage) Loneclones Dumpster Zone 2020-06-21 | Last September I got a Super 8 camera and shot some test footage with a Kodak Vision3 50D roll at 18fps. We ran around the USC campus, the Expo Park Rose Garden, and the construction site for the George Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Pretty satisfied with the results, but I way underexposed that last shot in the dining hall (the only one I recorded audio with to see how sync sound would turn out), and it really couldn't be saved. C'est la vie. Next time I gotta get the scan that includes the sprocket holes, that's like half the appeal of shooting on actual film.The song is Feather by Nujabes
