He has been on the road with radiowv artist Nolan Taylor playing in his band for the last few years. He grew up in the same region of Eastern Kentucky that birthed the likes of Chris Stapleton and Loretta Lynn. He moved to Nashville when he was 18 and has grinded as an up and coming musician since then. He is now focusing on carving his own path with a set of songs I really resonate with, I absolutely love a few of his originals I have heard so far, and I hope you enjoy this one!
Gavin Crutcher - Lost My Soul radiowv 2025-07-24 | Gavin is 14 years old from Athens, Alabama. This was the first song I heard from Gavin and I knew he was wise above his years. You may be quick to say, what does a 15 year old mean with the lyrics, “back to how my life was when I was young”? I laughed jokingly by saying “back when he was 9?? Lol!!” Despite the poking fun, the soul in this song makes you reflect on your own life. I have given it plenty of listens while out running the roads and I have came up with a conclusion that answers this paradox. If you think back to when you were a little kid, not a 17 year old kid when puberty and the worries of life start to creep in (how to impress others or wondering what people think of you) but a 5-10 year old kid.. If you can think back that far, you will remember that those were the golden years, our self perceived “wisdom” and life experiences didn’t cloud our child-like allure and outlook on life, we lived almost completely in-the-moment. We had a grandiose view on the world, one that I so SO wish and strive to get back to in my personal thought life. Gavin, being 15, has a very fresh memory of his childhood, therefore he is well entitled to make that statement even as a 14 year old young man. I had them on my playlist before I ever decided to start doing radiowv, like many others, I had found them through their song "Porch Swing Angel". They were playing the WV State Fair with Charles Wesley Godwin this past summer so I was able to catch up with them and record "10 90" with them on the side of the Greenbrier river. They have blazed their own path in a grassroots way, and have built their following on the road "fan by fan". They honed in on singing harmonies and developing their musical ability in church growing up, a few years after high school each of them were trying their hand at performing shows around their hometown of Mobile, AL . They decided to combine their musical efforts into a joint venture after they played a few shows together and the rest is history.
