Wonderful place if you are into nature.This is the island that inspire the manga Princes Mononoke.So much to hike there, we recommend at least 3 nights to see it all.What is the deal with this island? Basically, the Japanese cedar dies around 500 years. In this island, you can see 8000 years old cedars. That is due to the granite formation of the island.

Since then, dikes and dams have been constructed around the Mizunashi River( no-water river) to channel lahar flows away from vulnerable areas. The no-water river is also in the footage.
