How to make Disney's Maleficent cake figurine & cake Tools & materials I used are listed below:
Non stick place mat (or flat non stick chopping board) Non stick small rolling pin Corn flour bag for dusting (handkerchief with corn flour in it tied up with a rubber band) Circle cutters (about 6cm wide) Palate knife and / or pointy craft knife Scissors Toothpicks Water in small container and small brush (or edible glue with brush) Black fondant icing White fondant icing Green fondant icing Flesh fondant icing Edible markers (Americolor Gourmet Writers) - black, brown, green, yellow & red Petal dust in pink & brush No. 18 wire Wooden skewers Tylose powder (to mix in fondant icing to make figures dry firmer) DIY casting jelly Doll (Ariel) Rounded drink lid
2 x 9 inch level round cakes filled & coated with buttercream Green, white & black fondant icing 6 inch cake board 13 inch MDF cake board Black ribbon Royal icing Letter cutters (MMF brand in capitals block)
I am using a type of icing called fondant icing which is a type of sugar dough (used on wedding cakes). You can get it from your local supermarket or specialty cake decorating supplier. You can even make it. I usually buy it in white & colour it by using food dyes & mixing it through. Link here for how to colour white fondant with food dyes: youtube.com/watch?v=3llmKZ0TuyE
For darker colours like black, bright red & bright green I buy it pre coloured as it's harder to mix the darker colours. These colours in fondant are more sticky due to the dye content so I usually mix a little white fondant through it to make it easier to work with. It can be sticky to work with & changes depending on the weather in your area - it absorbs moisture from the air so can be sticky to work with but it normally dries when exposed to air so you need to wrap excess fondant up in cling wrap and then a zip lock bag.
It may be hard when you take it out of its packaging so you would need to knead it to make it more workable as it warms up and becomes softer and sticker in your hands. To stop the stickiness of fondant you can dust your surfaces with corn flour. It comes in many brands - I use Pettinice RTR Icing by Bakels (brand) but there are many other brands like Satin Ice, Queens and Orchards.
Tylose powder can be used to mix through your fondant so that your figurines set harder & quicker than just fondant alone. You can leave it out but you risk your figurines sagging and not fully drying in time. You can get it online or from your specialty cake decorating supply shops. You can use it to make an edible glue as well. Link here for the edible glue - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs3HD3V0d2M

Information on Fondant:
How to make cupcake ice cream cones or ice cream cupcakes & rainbow art cupcakes:
Line muffin tray or cupcake tray with flat bottom ice cream cones. My tray (from Ikea) is high enough to hold them firmly in place. If you have the lower type you can place some tin foil around the sides to make them fit better.
Using a small ice cream scoop fill the cones with cupcake mixture to about 2/3 the height of the cone - just under the line before the cone widens out at the top. You can use a packet mix (I used 2 packets Green's Vanilla cake mix) or use my cupcake recipe but remember these will take slightly long to cook than the instructions cause of the cone shape.
Bake in a pre heated over for about 20 mins at 180 degrees C. All ovens are different so check at about 15 mins. Done when a skewer comes out clean or with a few crumbs on it. Remove from tray & let cool completely before frosting. I made cupcakes as well.
To frost I used Rich N Smooth Tropic Vanilla Topping which comes in a carton that you just beat up on medium speed for about 6 minutes until soft peaks form (don't over beat). Then you can divide up & mix food colours through before spreading onto your ice cream cone cupcakes.
You could also use the following to frost - my marshmallow frosting recipe or my swiss meringue buttercream recipe or any other frosting or buttercream you like. To get the swirl look I used a piping bag & a No. 17 Star tip from Loyal (brand).

Information on Fondant:
Now see how to decorate it for a My Little Pony MLP party for your kids birthday cake with these MLP friendship is magic toy figurines as cake toppers. You can also see how to make a My Little Pony cake topper figurine on my channel.
Ingredients & materials I used are listed below for baking & filling the cakes:
3 x Packs of Greens Vanilla Cake Mix 470g Box (or whatever brand you like) (Each packet of this cake mix required 2 eggs, 150ml or ⅔ cup milk & 60g or 3 tablespoons butter or margarine) I didn't use the icing mix in this cake box but my own swiss meringue buttercream recipe to fill will.
To make cake batter smoothly for 1 packet cake mix, have butter at room temp. & beat slightly until pale. Add flour mix & eggs & beat through slightly till mostly combined. Then add milk & mix though for a couple of minutes until combined. Bake for about 15 mins. (or until a wooden skewer comes out clean) when the batter is divided into 2 round 8 inch pans and baked together.
2 Round 8 inch cake tins/pans (each pan will have about 330g wet cake batter mix) Baking paper Scissors & Pencil 8 inch cake board Cake turn table Cake cooling racks Toothpick or cake tester Large bowl & smaller bowls with mixing spoons Electric hand mixer Scale Food Colour Gels by Green's (in red, blue, green & yellow) Food dye colour suggestions Red Cake (8 drops red food dye) Yellow Cake (4 drops yellow food dye) Blue Cake (3 drops blue food dye) Green Cake (3 drops green food dye) Orange Cake (1 drop red, 3 drops yellow food dye) Purple Cake (1 drop blue, 3 drops red food dye) Each cake level about 2cm in height when baked and levelled to 1.7cm with a cake leveller or serrated knife Swiss meringue buttercream or whatever buttercream you like to fill with.

1. Stir 95g SugarVeil® white mix with 80ml (or ⅓ cup) tap water for 30 seconds with a spatula in a mixing bowl.
2. Then mix in a stand mixer on medium speed for 4 minutes - scrapping the sides of the bowl mid way through. When done it should be a pourable consistency.
3. Dust the SugarVeil® Lace mat with corn flour using a dry clean pastry brush in a circular motion. Shake off any excess.
4. Pour some SugarVeil® mix on the mat & use the SugarVeil® spreader to spread out in all directions. Spreading low with fingers spread out pressing firmly down.
5. Wipe spreader clean with a damp cloth & swipe one last time across the length of the mat to remove most of the residue icing.
6. Bake on tray in a preheated oven at 95 degrees C or 200 degree F for 8 minutes (all ovens vary so check for non tackiness to the touch of the lace). If using different mats from SugarVeil® check their website here for heating instructions for different mats - http://sugarveil.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/SugarVeil-Confectioners-Mats.pdf
7. Remove from oven & place tray on a wet soaked tea towel. Use just damp cloth or paper towel to wipe lace in circular motion to remove any residue that may be still left. This would slightly introduce moisture back to lace so let it sit to dry on the tray with the edges of the damp tea towel folded over but not touching the lace to keep edges from drying too fast. It should be done in about 5 minutes when the lace is not tacky to the touch and comes away from the edges of the lace mat.
8. Use the SugarVeil® fin tool to help with initial release of the lace & use the SugarVeil® spreader tool to separate the mat from the lace.
9. Store in between baking paper in a zip lock bag in air tight containers. Moisture in the air will make the lace sticky again or dry it up if left in the open in hot weather.

Sophie 2How to Make Play-Doh Roses & Fondant Roses for a Mothers Day CakePink Cake Princess2015-05-07 | See how easy it is to make Play-Doh roses & then try making them with fondant icing which you can use as cake toppers for your Mother's Day cake. These easy fondant roses are also beautifully coloured in multicolours - make rainbow play doh roses or rainbow fondant roses if you want to layer them with more petals.
The play dough isn't edible but if you wanted to eat it you could use edible marzipan or almond paste which has a very similar texture. Fondant roses are edible but most people would keep them as a keepsake as they do set hard. I used a store bought fondant by Bakels.

Information about fondant:
How to make a simple corn flour bag for dusting your surfaces: youtube.com/watch?v=WqHkkEXNgkE
