(early May 2025) just outside the city is Balata camp, which is one of the most overcrowded camps in population in Palestine , like most others it was originally made to house 5,000 refugees from thir first displacement in 1948, in 1950 this place like the others were established by UNWRA..it was originally only supposed to temporary until they could return to their original cities, but that never happened. ive been here a couple of times , like i say in the video , i lost my data from last time, so had to go back and my contact Mahdi was more than happy to take me. If anyone needs any guidance in nablus or to see the camp, i will put his instagram link below. The camp sees raids almost every night , or daytime , it can happen anytime. The man who lives next to te bombed out building Shadi gave me his number as +972599665570 it looks like hes not on whatsapp now, but everyone knows everyone there so not hard to find, he has a tin roof whick lets the rain in, thats the second time ive met him , i felt so bad for him as he has a big family and no work.If anyone watched my time staying at Dheisha camp near Bethlehem then youll understand more about the Camp situation in palestine, with water restrictions etc. This again was a place where everybody told me not to go to , but everyone was so friendly. Things have gotten a lot worse since i was there and just like Tulkarm the IOF are now bulldozing the homes in the camp. I just wanted to see how it was walking around alone as a foreigner as they dont get many, not really a tourist destination , but if you want a taste of the hospitality of Palestinians then its a great place to go , actually everywhere in Palestine is great! with amazingly kind people. This was my final day in Tulkarm and i had such laughs sitting at this coffee place the night before that i went back the next day just to hang out with the locals , Obviously there was a language barrier, as always , but we all managed and we had lots of laughs aboit it, they were happy to see an outsider that wanted to be there , as this isnt a touristy place, so they see few tourists. I went a solo walk around the city alone and this is what happened, people atopped me to offer mw coffee, i was given so many things, it was hard to even pay for things as you can see in the video.I had tried to go out for a wander the night before, but as i explained in the vlog, i didnt feel comfortable. this was filmed in April this year.. 2025. im no longer there now. Again this is just a vlog showing the people are in this city , this was probably one of the more surprising cities where i sat for hours at the coffee places with locals with google translate and just laughed, but extremely sad also , when i met so many people that are displaced from the camps and sleeping on the streets.. thanks for watching.. I Went Alone To Tulkarm |Occupied West Bank 2025 🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-06-14 | #tulkarem #israelpalestineconflict #westbank Tulkarm/Tulkarem in the northern west bank.. after Jenin i took a shared taxi here alone and met a local contact, this is just a brief vlog on my first day getting there , my local contact took me for a drive past the totally destroyed refugee camps here , this was filmed in the end of April 2025, since this the IOF have been bulldozing many homes in the camps. the first day they had allowed people back to their homes to collect belongings, although on allowing that, there were IOF soldiers in the camp that arrested several young guys. There are 2 hotels in Tulkarm and i wanted to spend one night in this hotel near Nur Shams camp, the next night i stayed in the city which was better as i walked around the city and was able to get lots of interactions with some amazing funny people . i also heard heartbreaking stories from people that had lost everything and have nowhere to stay... stay tuned for my other Tulkarm vlogs. Alone in rural occupied Palestine 2025 🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-06-10 | #jenin #israelpalestineconflict #palestine Jenin, after spending my second day in Jenin City in the West Bank, Palestine, my local contact took me to meet his family somewhere in he countryside outside the city. Its just a short Vlog but i learned a bit more and i just wanted you to see how resilient (again) the palestinans are and how they still manage to laugh despite losing practically everything. I still have more Vlogs from Nablus old city and Balata camp tour, i had been before to Balata but my SD card corrupted and i lost a lot of footage on that card, so i did go back to Nablus and film the old City and Balata camp.. future vlogs. But i went to Jenin from Jerusalem with an American tourist i had met, he stayed a day, i stayed alone for a couple of days . My local contact here is fine with being on Camera , i dont want anyone to think i carelessly put people on camera if they ask me not to , but he said his job as a journalist is to speak out, i learned a lot from my time here in Jenin, this is where i saw my first glimpse of one of the destroyed camps that recently happened and thousands of families have been displaced, including my contact here. At this time nobody was allowed to enter the camp, nobody could go get their belongings , i had hoped we would be able to get in, but we were warned a couple of times by the locals not to go any further as there are snipers on these buildings. This is where i learned a lot about the issues here , with the Palestinian Authority (PA) a lot of these things i really didnt know so much about until here. I met with the local journalists and we drove around a while, i think the most unnerving experience was driving with the journalists with a press sign on their car which was riddled with Bullet holes. The people are as resilient as ever in palestine. this was filmed over 2 days . Nablus ,Palestine Alone at night🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-06-01 | #nablus #palestine #westbank Nablus March 2025 , PalestineNablus at night, I decided to go out for a wander at night in nablus alone, not sure if i say in the vlog , but i felt very uncomfortable walking around with my camera at night when i first went out, people seemed suspicious at first, as to who i was and what was i doing there as there were no tourists going there at this time. i found some guys that asked me if i wanted a coffee outside, so i ended up sitting with them for a couple of hours using google translate but they didnt want to be filmed which i understand. on the way back i was beckoned to this food stand where they said they were selling Donkey meat , of course it wasnt , they were joking around , it was some chicken and actually ive no idea what that last thing was i tasted! it was all just in good fun. Apparently these street vendors are no longer allowed on the streets in Nablus. this was filmed in March 2025. i went back to nablus a secong time so have more to come. Alone in occupied Palestine 2025 🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-05-29 | #palestine #westbank #israelpalestineconflict Nablus , West Bank Palestine , This was my first visit to Nablus, i had gone to Balata camp but unfortunately lost the footage , i did go back and that will be in another vlog! i had stayed with a local contact one night who dropped me off in the centre to find my way to the guest house, I ended up meeting some street vendors that had me literally crying with laughter as you will see. It never ceases to amaze me how resilient the people are despite the current situation. They said if they couldnt still find things to laugh about , they would go crazy ! These guys i met on the street were so funny. I then met the guest house owner that took me to this amazing hidden gem in the old city, sadly there are very few tourists these days, so i had the place to myself ! i went back again (future vlog) and again, i had the place to myself. Hebron /Al Khalil :The locals talk ( SHOCKING) Palestine 2025 Wandering Emma 2025-05-25 | #israelpalestineconflict #westbank #hebron Hebron /Al Khalil , my last visit to this most divided city and decided to go walk and meet the locals, I was invited into a well known local who lives between H1 and H2 , hi windows are welded shut so they cant look out onto the jewish settlement. i asked if he wanted tgis on you tube and he was 100% fine with it. its crazy seeing all those shops with doors welded shut also.i went to see Badir in his shop as he wanted me to see what happens every saturday when the jewish from H2 get their weekly escorted tour of the old city, you can see some of he news clips he played to me of himself in the news, the IOF burned his shop down one time , he leaves a small corner of his shop with burnt itemes from the fire as a reminder, he has done many interviews for various media, he and his father and grandfather used to go to scool in a building thats now on the occupied H2 of he city... Inside The Dystopian City of Hebron /Al khalil Palestine(Crazy ) 🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-05-17 | #palestine #hebron #israel Hebron /Al Khalil ,Palestines most divided City ! I started with the aim to go to the Ibrahimi Mosque in this divided city where palestinians have to go through security Checkpoints just to be able to pray at the Mosque , i almost got into the Mosque but suddenly they told me it was closed to me, Sudden closings are not unheard of here . Palestinians often have to wait in line for a long time , just to get throgh the security gates , where they face humiliation a lot of the time, just like most checkpoints on the West Bank. I have more vlogs coming out from Hebron and a lot more from my time in the West Bank. This ghost town is home to just a ffew hundred jewish settlers, many from the USA . There are no stores anymore in which was once a vibrant bustling part of the old city that i had just walked through. There are still palestinians living in some areas of this area (H2) but they are not allowed to walk freely over into the Ocuupied areas or they rish being arrested or worse.. The fencing around some palestinians areas is controlled by th IOF and they decide when to unlock the gates and let the Palestinian families out, denying them access to medical care if they need it urgently, or food and groceries. Every aspect of their lives is controlled by the IOF . I spent 3 months in Palestine and just recently left . A BAD day in Occupied Hebron 2025🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-05-11 | #hebron #israelpalestineconflict #westbank Al Fawwar Refugee camp ,Hebron/Al Khalil. This was my second time visiting here, this first time we visited we had to leave quickly through back streets guided by locals who knew where the IOF were at the time, the second visit , we had to also leave quickly as they came in wit tear gas! I went here originally to talk to the girls in English as part of my weeks volunteering teaching English to the kids.the Red Crescent guys gave us a quick drive around tour in the car as it wasnt safe for us to be walking around, this was my first time in a refugee camp, i have since been to several including Balata camp in Nablus which is the most crowded. West Bank Apartheid wall 2025 🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-05-07 | #bethlehem #palestine #israelpalestineconflict Bethlehem, West Bank Palestine 2025. During my stay at Dheisha Camp i took a trip to see The illegal separation wall or Apartheid wall which runs for hundreds of miles in the Occupied West bank. It separates whole families in some areas, you can read some of the person stories from people that are all around the wall. I went alone with a Taxi driver, this area used to have a lot of tourists, but as you can see it was deserted! I found a few of Bankys original work, the main one isnt actually on the wall. The Hotel he opened had to close as no business. The best part of this day was meeting the boys that were so sweet and dying for me to play a game of football with them! This is probably the most famous section of the wall because of all the Graffiti artists that have done their art, This was in February and again i didnt know as much then as i do now. Masafer Yatta , Umm AL-Khair , Nightmare situations 🇵🇸 Wandering Emma 2025-05-02 | #palestine #hebron #westbank Masafer Yatta in the Souther West bank , South of the city of Hebron, there are several villages in this area which have been the subject of much harrasment and intimidation and violence from the Settlers that have building huge modern housing developments right alongside these small villages , the area had been declared a "firing zone" in 1977 allowing the israeli army to demolish houses, burn crops,block water wells, the list is endless...yet the settlements are thriving here in these areas. I really had no idea what a huge issue this has been until i saw it with my own eyes! These villages have been here for a long time, way before the settlers. Theres so much you can read about this area , and the Movie "NO OTHER LAND" is based in this area. This village is called Umm Al-Khair. A Lone wander in a Palestine Refugee Camp Wandering Emma 2025-04-27 | #palestine #westbank #travel Dheisha refugee camp , West Bank 2025, this is the secong and last vlog from my few days i spent at the camp in Bethllehem. It was Ramadan and Fatima needed some Almonds, and i wanted to see how it was to go out for a wander alone, I explained the camp in my first vlog description, but here i also went to her neighbors house next door. The sense of community in the camps is next to nothing ive come across before, everyone is like close family wity each other, popping in to each others houses and leaving with a plate of food. On my first stay i was a bit anxious incase anything would happen at night , but nothing happened during my stay at least. Huge thanks to Fatima and her family and friends that looked after me like part of the family and even told me i am now part of the family and welcome there anytime! i wish nothing but the best for everyone and that peace will come one day ... I spent 3 days in a Refugee Camp (Dheisheh camp) Wandering Emma 2025-04-22 | #palestine #refugees #westbank Dheisheh Refugee camp, just outside Bethlehem, life in a fefugee camp and a tour ! Thanks again to Fatima and her family for having me, and their kindness and hospitality i have no words ... When i first went to stay , i will say i was a little anxious, again remember this was my secong time! first time i went for 2 days but didnt film so much , this time i stayed for 3 days and felt a bit more comfortable filming and got to know everyone so well, like family! I knew the risks involved and that the IOF can randomly come into the camps any time, usually at night and just pick random homes to raid, although after my first night that anxiety went, although for fatima and her daughter that anxiety never goes away, as with many others that stay in Refugee camps in the West bank. Ok so this wasnt my first visit to Dheisheh Refugee camp in Bethlehem, i went in February , but it was so cold out that nobody was out and about and Fatima asked me to go back! first visit i stayed a couple of days, this was me returning during ramadan to spend a few days here. The last stop is where i was supposed to get off and i told the driver that, but it seemed nobody else was getting off at that stop, and i didnt realise till we were heading back to Jerusalem! yup! only me... its very easy getting out of Jerusalem, its getting back into Jerusalem that you have to deal with Checkpoints , and ID gets checked , not so much for me, but all the Palestinians , everyone has to get off the Bus with belongings , only to get back on the Bus again, sometimes this can take a while depending on Traffic at Checkpoints.. A community that was basically about a 5 minute walk from my Hotel in East Jerusalem , and i didnt even know it . I was warned by many locals actually NOT to go there as it was dangerous .. Dangerous in that i may get rocks ir eggs thrown at me ! Which of course wasnt at all the case ! It was absolutely fascinating to walk through the streets that look like things havent changed since it was established ! Ride the Infamous Mauritanian Iron ore train! This train can be 200 carriages long , and 2.7k long ,loaded with thousands on tons of iron ore going to the port of Nouadhibou.. its dangerous in that if you fall off , it wont stop for you , if you dont take enough water your screwed . Ive seen other people do this and wanted to do it for years ! Morocco to Mauritania / land border and First Impressions 🇲🇷 Wandering Emma 2024-11-21 | #morocco #africa #mauritania Dakhla, and finally crossed into Mauritania, the bus from Laayoune was fairly straightforward and nothing much to see, Dakhla is where we mat Anna , where we had planned on meeting as she was originally coming to do the iron ore train with us. Dakhla was a lovely place where (again) i wished i had more time to explore ir, but again as we were just passing through for one night, we didnt get to see very much. Diversity Plaza, mainly a Bangladeshi area but jackson heights in general is so so diverse... I have one more NY vlog after this in the “little Bangladesh “ area which was lovely as everyone was shopping for Eid .Queens is a huge area , so this was just scratching the surface ! ULTRA LOW COST flight from Iceland to New York for $150 Wandering Emma 2024-06-18 | #cheapflights #play #iceland Play Airlines, Icelands ultra budget airline which i took back in winter, firstly i aplologise for the lack of vlogs over the last few months, ive been in Scotland for months as my Mother was back in Hospital, she is home now buts its been a difficult time and ive not been able to travel... currently back in NY now but going back to Scotland in a couple of weeks to stay.Transatlantic flights are becomimg quite expensive, especially last minute , which is how i usually roll, so was shocked to find this cheap option at $150 from iceland to NY , of course i had to get to Iceland from Edinburgh , but that was a 2 hour $50 flight.
