Recipe: 1/2 cup yogurt (store bought or homemade) 1/2 gallon of 2% milk (can use whole milk)
Heat milk to 180F and keep at that temp for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent it from burning.
Reduce temperature of milk back down to 110F. This is VERY important. If you do NOT reduce the heat, you will kill the enzymes in the mother yogurt causing the milk to never turn into yogurt.
Once the milk has come down to 110F, remove about 1 cup of the warm milk and add it to the mother yogurt. Whisk really well to combine. Add this mixture back into the warm milk and whisk to fully combine.
Place the yogurt into a large heat proof bowl and seal with a lid. Wrap the yogurt in a big towel to keep it warm and let it sit on the kitchen counter or in the microwave for 8 hours.
Remove the yogurt from the microwave and remove the towel and the lid. Place in the fridge, without a lid, for 24 hours.

Check out my Blog - Curious Cooks cookingwithchaos.gg/blogs/curious-cooksWhy I Stopped Buying Protein BarsPaul Karyakos2026-02-02 | Protein Bars are just too expensive these days. Making your own is pretty easy and super flexible with flavors and tastes.
I was inspired to make these for a few reasons. One, protein bars are just getting way too expensive. $3 for a 150 calorie bar is a bit up there. Two, Internet Shaquille inspired me.
These bars cost about $5 per batch, depending on your ingredients. The ones I made are SUPER low sugar (and not as tasty, but still really healthy) compared to the ones Shaq made.
Here is my modified version of ingredients based on my Post Mortum
3 Cups dry oats 3 Cups non fat milk (fairlife if you have it) 1.5 cups frozen berries 1 tbsp vanilla 1 cup nonfat Greek Yogurt 3/4 cup Honey or Sugar (more to taste) - NOTE: I did NOT include this in my video to keep the sugars low. 1 tsp salt 1tsp baking powder 1 cup chopped walnuts 2 eggs 2 scoops vegan protein powder (optional)
Pre-Heat oven to 350F.
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Spray a 9x9 baking dish with non-stick spray then line the dish with parchment baking paper. Pour the mixture into the dish and tap it down on the table a few times to settle it.
Place the dish into the oven and bake for 20 minutes. Check the oat bars and see if they have a slight jiggle. If they look too wet, cook for another 10 minutes. Make sure the center of the oatmeal bars are not fully set when you remove them from the oven or they might over cook.
Cool down completely then cut into single serving bars. This makes about 9 total bars of equal size.
Peanut Butter Bars 2 cups dry oats 2 cups non fat milk 2 eggs 1 cup PB2 Powder OR 2/3 cup Peanut butter 1 cup 2% fat Greek yogurt 1/2 cup honey or sugar 1 tbsp vanilla 1 tsp salt 1 tsp baking powder Chocolate chips to top it.
*NOTE: FOLLOW SAME BAKING INSTRUCTIONS AS BERRY VERSION, CHECK ST 15 MIN*
