CURRY BY AIR - Curry delivered 1,000 miles for the ITALIAN JOB Thats TV Solent 2019-10-21 | For most of us, a takeaway order would travel at most 5 miles to be delivered, but what about 1000 miles. That's what happened at the weekend when the Akash restaurant in Portsmouth delivered one of their dishes to Italy, in an Italian job styled event to raise money for children's charity Buttle UK. The driver of the vehicle and fundraiser for the trip was our very own Presenter Richard Stringer. So our reporter Dan Dove caught up with them before they set off.

CARNIVAL under pressure from Extinction Rebellion Thats TV Solent 2019-08-23 | With the attention on climate change ramping up due to the focus on the Amazon burning, Extinction Rebellion Southampton are urging Carnival Cruises to become more environmentally friendly.The group only last month staged a "die-in" at the Cruise companies UK HQ in Southampton. But now the climate activist group want to apply more pressure so that Carnival change the fuel type they use and also how long they leave the engines on whilst docked. In a Statement a Carnival spokesman said:"We would welcome the opportunity to meet face to face with Extinction Rebellion. Preserving and protecting the environment is one of Carnival Corporation's highest priorities. Not only is our very existence tied to protecting the oceans, seas and communities in which we operate, but operating responsibly is also the right thing to do. Bring Home ZEUS - A heartbreaking appeal to bring home stolen FRENCH BULLDOG Thats TV Solent 2019-07-18 | A Hampshire family have sent out a heartbreaking appeal to the country after their home was broken into and their dog was stolen.In the early hours of Tuesday the ninth of July a french Bulldog known as Zeus was taken from Kiera & Jonathan Soares home at around 3:30 am.Their appeal to get Zeus home is being pushed with a £2000 reward for anyone who can get him back to the family.The response has now meant their story has been shared all over the country in the hope someone will find the stolen dog.Our reporter Dan Dove has more.

Southampton man cycling to help fight cancer Thats TV Solent 2019-07-18 | A Southampton resident will soon begin his cycle from London to Paris, with the hopes of raising funds for the Southampton University cancer immunology unit.Sean Whelan, is embarking on the gruelling challenge after his father in law Bob Hookway received treatment within the ward for Skin Cancer, of which he is now completely cancer free.Sean also lost his own father to lung cancer in 2003 and hopes this charity ride will not only raise vital funds, but inspire others to push themselves for great causes.So we went to see Sean as he trains before he sets off on July the 24th.

Itchen Scouts Targeted By Arson Thats TV Solent 2019-06-26 | A scout groups summer plans of camping holidays has seen to be ruined, after a fire caused around £50,000 pounds worth of damage.Leaders from the Itchen Scout group in Southampton, were woken in the early hours of Monday morning, after reports that their trailer and activity hall were on fire. What they witnessed was their trailer completely incinerated, whilst their hall and equipment were also damaged. Celebrating 60 Years Since Enroling At HMS Ganges Thats TV Solent 2019-06-17 | Members of the HMS Ganges 18/19 Recruitments Reunion Association met on board one of the Navy’s most iconic ships, to mark 60 years since each of them joined the service. The group meets annually to reminisce about their time at the training camp, where they started their careers, many of whom would go on to sail with the royal navy for many years. PKU sufferer fighting the NHS for life changing drug KUVAN Thats TV Solent 2019-05-22 | A man from Southampton is urging the NHS to allow him to have access to a life-changing drug. Patrick Taylor from Hedge End suffers from the most severe form of a rare lifelong condition called Classical Phenylketonuria (PKU). The condition means Patrick’s body is unable to break down the amino acid, which is found in many foods and used by your body to produce proteins.Currently around 3500 people in the UK have the condition, but the drug Kuvan is only available in other European Countries.

Fair Ways Fairy Garden opens at Royal Victoria Country Park Thats TV Solent 2019-04-16 | A new magical creation was opened this weekend in Southampton.The Fairways Fairy Garden at the Royal Victoria Country Park saw hundreds attend as the tree sculpture was unveiled.The project was to turn the felled tree into a mythical creation, involving dragons, castles and wizards, all crafted with a chainsaw by Chris Bain.It was all to celebrate the work that the Children's Charity 'Fairways' does within the local community.
Southampton Community Pays Respects To Victims In New Zealand Thats TV Solent 2019-03-21 | A peace vigil was held in Southampton on Wednesday evening, in honour of the victims of the New Zealand terror attacks.People from all backgrounds came together to remember the 50 victims that were gunned down last Friday, by a white supremacist, in Christchurch.The Muslim Council of Southampton and Southampton Council of Faiths, arranged the peace vigil for a moment of prayer and reflection. The vigil gave the opportunity for the community to come together, and show they stand as one.

Using an endowment from the late reverend, that has been invested and multiplied many times, the charity are able to say that 100% of all money raised, goes directly to those that need it, and not on admin costs or the day to day running of the charity. And now they have paired with The Italian Job rally, who raise money for children by driving classic minis to italy in the footsteps, or should that be tire treads, of the Classic Michael Caine film. We visited Buttle’s headquarters to find out how this unique partnership will help young people here in our region.
