The Weathers-Riley Family • Cant Catch Me Now (Scream AU) DarkestxHearts 2024-02-03 | « you can still make your own family. »This idea just came to me last week and I knew I had to at least try and translate it into a video, even though I knew there would be things I wanted to cover but couldn't because of footage purposes (mainly Dewey's trauma and how it was simply...never really explored?)For those of you who don't know, this is based off my WIP Scream 2022 Rewrite fic where Gale and Dewey have a daughter the same age as Tara, Chad and Mindy. Gale and Dewey still separated (though didn't divorce) in my fic and Tatum ends up living with her grandmother in Woodsboro. Sam and Tara are also considered as family by Gale and Dewey, but everyone has kind of fractured and gone in their own directions since the 2011 murders - Gale in NYC, Tatum with Mrs. Riley, Dewey at the edge of town, Sam in Modesto and Tara with her mom. The 2021 murders bring them all back together, uniting them as a family unit (+Sidney) for really the first time in a decade. Yet another Tatum Weathers-Riley exists AU. SHE'S REAL TO ME, OKAY? I just think it would've more organically tied the Original Trio to the Core Four if she did. Sidney's her godmother, Tara's been her best friend since childhood, Wes has been in love with her since then, Amber is the ex-girlfriend who absolutely shredded her heart to pieces, Sam is like the big sister she never had, and she's known the twins since she was in diapers. Sam, Tara and Tatum are the second coming of Dewey, Tatum and Sidney. Sam and Tatum are made out to be the Gen Z Billy/Stu by the people of Woodsboro. It all makes sense...again, TO ME. Once she grows up, she returns to the Enchanted Forest and raises an army to take back the throne of Sherwood from her father's evil cousin, Prince John. Elizabeth is another one of Robin's cousins who was passed over because of her gender following a crisis of succession. Think Rhaenys Targaryen. Probably won't finish.23. Neal is Snow and Charming's son and Kira's soulmate, ironic because of their mother's past history. Again, probably won't finish.

The scene where Max is watching TV in Stranger Things S4 actually has Courteney on the screen in Misfits of Science. I thought that was a really cool crossover that happened completely by accident. 2. Tatum being a redhead is an homage to Gale's red streaks in Scream 2, my personal favorite of her hairstyles.3. I didn’t really get a chance to include it here, but Tatum is bisexual and Amber is her ex-girlfriend, mirroring Stu and Tatum in the original Scream film. (Also because both Gale and Dewey give off big bisexual vibes to me. Idk, maybe I’m just projecting.) I do plan on editing her with a love interest that she meets in NYC set after this video, so I’ll try to include some Tatum/Amber stuff in that too as kind of a foil to Joel/Tatum.4. She has a German Shepherd Mix named Cujo that I just couldn't find a way to work in here. But he's a very good boy.I've had this idea ever since learning that Gale and Dewey were *supposed* to be parents in the original script for Scream 4. She obviously feels major resentment towards Gale over this as she's essentially become Dewey's caretaker as he has his own past trauma he's failing to deal with.The killings start happening again her senior year of Highschool, bringing the family (including Sidney, her Godmother/Aunt) back together. Gewey & Chara • Out of the Woods DarkestxHearts 2023-05-10 | « survivors got to stick together. »From the MINUTE the credits rolled during Scream VI (really after Chara kissed and directly paralleled Gewey from Scream 2 if I'm being honest), I knew I HAD to make something with both of them. Originally it was going to be a different song, but I got stuck and decided to change to OOTW, which honestly fits them both SO well...if we just forget about the whole Dewey actually dying part...but I like to pretend that didn't happen anyways, so it works. Gewey will always be THE Scream ship for me. And I hate what they did to them. It will probably always be my biggest gripe with the franchise. And not necessarily even killing him off, but breaking them up after their entire story arc in 4 being them having problems in their marriage but deciding ultimately that what they have is too important to lose and recommitting to each other. You're telling me Gale stayed in a place she HATED for a decade for Dewey's career only for him to not last two months and leave in the middle of the night when they inverse happened and they moved to NYC for hers? That's not MY Dewey Riley. I would've much preferred them to have been on good terms and happy together when he died. Not waste the last few years they had not speaking while still in love with each other...I'll end my rant there, because I could keep going.HOPEFULLY, Chara will get the happy ending that Gewey deserved. I know some people dislike them solely for that reason, and that's fine. I just really like the idea of Chara being Dewey and Gewey's legacy and they're precious to me because in a way, Gewey lives on through them. Here's to more ships we find and fall for together - I have a feeling they won't be the last! I went into Scream VI having coped with Dewey's death and then they went and made me all emotional again. Which don't get me wrong, I LOVED that they still mentioned him and showed that Gale has been struggling. They were together for two decades and survived 4 killing sprees together -- it'd be weird if they didn't. It just brings back all my feelings of killing him off being the biggest misstep (one of the only) of the franchise for me. Regardless, the conversation that Gale has with Sam about blood family vs. found family has me REALLY wishing for Gale to become a maternal figure for the Carpenter sisters since their mom practically disowned them. Gale very clearly cares about them and didn't trust Kirby to keep them safe, even after being shut out of the plan. Not to mention Dewey literally DIED saving them. I think it'd be poetic in a very profound way this franchise hasn't explored yet. Gale and Dewey were SUPPOSED to be parents in an early draft for Scream 4 and this could be a very organic way for that to happen while giving all three characters connections they're in need of. I don't know, just something that hit me while watching it and it won't leave me alone.Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this! Rick & Evy (The Mummy) • Maroon DarkestxHearts 2023-01-23 | « would you like to know what heaven looks like? »For @ofdurinsfolk, who I always seem to meet halfway in loving the same ships, no matter the genre or medium. This one (again) is for you, Kim!Watched the first two films for the first time (well, not the first counting snippets I've caught over the years from reruns, but the first time I've sat down and watched both in full, back to back) around New Years and absolutely fell in love with them and the franchise. The perfect blend of camp, horror, historical fiction, sci-fi, and rom-com all blended into one immensely enjoyable viewing experience. AND it's got the late 90's, early 00's feel to boot. What's not to love? I also really enjoyed how Evy wasn't just the token love interest. Does she get into trouble? Yes. Does Rick rescue her a bit?...Yes...BUT Returns gives her so much to work with and develops her character so nicely. She's evolved past being just a librarian and has become Rick's equal, just as he's become hers. His development is fantastic, too. He goes from this Indiana Jones-esque character that was orphaned and has never had anyone to a devoted husband and loving father who'd do absolutely anything for his family. It's just wonderful, for both of them. You can feel the years that've canonically passed between the two films, and you'd feel it even without the physical presence of their 8? 9? year old son (who I love to bits, the perfect blend of the two of them). The only thing I wish they'd delved into more was the mythos/parameters of reincarnation. I thought it was really interesting. (Not to mention Rachel as Nefertiri??? HOLY FUCK). I just feel like for such a driving force behind the plot, it wasn't utilized or explored to the full extent it could have been. I guess what I'm really getting at is, I wish they'd just gone all in and made Rick a reincarnated Medjai who had been Nefertiri's personal bodyguard. They kind of just threw in Rick having a Medjai tattoo without it having any real impact on the story, aside from it being suggested that he and Evy were fated. Which...again, go all out! Make them an almost direct foil to Imhotep and Anck-Su-Namun. Would make the *spoiler* scene where Evy saves Rick but Anck-Su-Namun abandons Imhotep more impactful. Plus, then they serve both the princess/bodyguard trope as well as the reincarnation trope. Ideas for a sequel to Returns, perhaps? (No, I don't consider Tomb of the Dragon Emperor canon in case you were wondering.)I've heard some talk/rumors of there being a possibility for a third one with Brendan and Rachel and I'm ALL here for it! He's said he'd be interested and he's currently free, so...Rachel? PLEASE??? I feel like if Neo and Trinity can die at the end of Matrix Revolutions in 2003 and be resurrected and get their HEA in 2021, this should be a cake walk in comparison! Before I get into gushing over Kim, let me just say this: We tried our absolute best, despite our own personal preferences (Kim was much more successful at this than I was, I think), to include as many and as much of certain ships as possible. There were one or two we left out for personal reasons (or because we simply didn't feel the need to add them -- sorry not sorry Joyce/Bob) but I think we covered most of them and this actually made me appreciate some of them in a way I didn't before. The song choice and the vibe of it inspired me so freaking much, this practically made itself. I'll link the AddieLuc video down below because if you haven't seen it, it's a freaking masterclass of a book/fancast edit and it greatly outdoes what I did here. Go check it out if you haven't!Storyline wise, this is set after Kira is already queen of Sherwood Forest and OUAT plotwise, leading up to the flashbacks in 7x10 "The Eighth Witch", just before the Sixth (? this has been cast too many times ffs) Dark Curse is cast. I had to alter it a little to make footage fit, but basically, Gideon is able to capture Kira one night and whisks her away to his father's old castle, trapping her there. Originally, his intent was to harness her unique brand of magic for himself, but over time, he's fallen in love with her. When she continues to push back and resist him, he punishes her by stealing her heart and cursing her to turn into a wolf every night when the moon rises, no matter where she is, binding and keeping her dependent on him.Throughout it all, Kira longs for her family and Neal, growing increasingly desperate as time goes on, hearing next to nothing about the on goings of her kingdom and the Enchanted Forest as a whole -- which is under siege by the true big bad of the story, The Horned King (Black Cauldron, anyone?). Think White Walkers in GoT but with an OUAT twist, basically.
