Get to know the story behind each song:
1)"Ó Abre Alas" foi composto em 1899 por Chiquinha Gonzaga e é considerada a primeira marchinha de carnaval da história, criada para embalar o desfile do cordão Rosa de Ouro, do bairro do Andaraí, na zona norte do Rio de Janeiro, onde Chiquinha morava.
2) A segunda marchinha foi composto em 1930 por Joubert de Carvalho, mas era cantada por Carmen Miranda. Apesar do nome original da música ser "Pra você gostar de mim", ficou popularmente conhecida apenas como "Taí" ou "Ta-hi". Foi cantando essa marchinha que Carmen Miranda se tornou um sucesso nacional!
3) A marchinha "Cachaça" tem uma história curiosa! Ela foi composta pelo baiano Marinósio Trigueiros que gravou a marchinha no Uruguai em 1946 e fez muito sucesso por lá! Mas em 1953, Marinósio viu sua música sendo em um programa de TV que mostrava o carnaval de rua do Rio de Janeiro. Ele viajou para o Rio de Janeiro e descobriu que outras pessoas estavam recebendo pela sua música e aí começou uma batalha pelos direitos autorais! No fim, Marinósio provou que a música era dele mesmo mostrando o disco que tinha gravado anos antes no Uruguai!
4) "Turma do funil" foi escrita em 1956 no Rio de Janeiro por Mirabeau, M de Oliveira e Urgel de Castro, mas ficou ainda mais famosa graças a Tom Jobim e Miúcha que fizeram uma gravação da música em 1980! É até hoje uma das favoritas no Carnaval!
5) "Mamãe eu quero" foi escrita em 1936 por Jararaca e Vicente Paiva. Um fato interessante é que essa música fez sucesso nos Estados Unidos quando ela foi interpretada pela atriz e cantora Carmen Miranda no filme Serenata tropical de 1940 e chegou a ter uma versão em inglês!
6) "Me dá um Dinheiro Aí" foi composta em 1959 pelos irmãos Homero, Glauco e Ivan Ferreira, mas ganhou popularidade na voz do cantor Moacyr Franco. Em 1960 foi a música mais tocada do Carnaval e em 2011 apareceu em sexto lugar na lista da revista Veja que elegeu as 10 melhores marchinhas de carnaval de todos os tempos!
7) Samba-enredo composto por Didi e Mestrinho para o desfile da União da Ilha do Governador no ano de 1982. A escola ficou em quinto lugar naquele ano mas o samba com título "É hoje", entrou pra história!
8) Esse samba é um hino que além de marcar a vitória da escola de samba Acadêmicos do Salgueiro no ano de 1993, também se tornou um dos maiores sambas-enredo da história! O samba, mais conhecido como "Explode coração", se chama na verdade "Peguei um Ita no Norte" e foi composto por Demá Chagas inspirado por uma canção de mesmo nome de 1945 do cantor Dorival Caymmi. "Ita" era o apelido dos navios que faziam transporte de carga e passageiros ao longo da Costa brasileira e foi muito utilizado na década de 1930 por nordestinos que vinham em busca de uma vida melhor no Rio de Janeiro. A canção de Dorival Caymmi conta a sua própria história quando veio da Bahia para o Rio em 1938!
9) "Sonhar não custa nada!" é o título do samba-enredo escrito por Paulinho Mocidade para o desfile de 1992 da escola Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel! A escola tinha sido campeã nos dois anos anteriores e sonhava com um tricampeonato, que infelizmente não veio, mas o samba se tornou um hino que até hoje embala os carnavais no Rio de Janeiro.
10) O samba "Aquarela Brasileira" foi escrito por Silas de Oliveira para o desfile da Império Serrano em 1964. A música é uma homenagem a outro clássico da música popular brasileira: a canção "Aquarela do Brasil" de Ary Barroso!
Além de embalar o desfile da Império Serrano em 1964, a escola fez uma reedição do enredo e trouxe a canção pra avenida mais uma vez em 2004. Apesar de só ter conquistado o quarto e nono lugar, "Aquarela Brasileira" se tornou um dos sambas-enredo mais amados dos cariocas e sem dúvida um grande clássico do carnaval!
