Why I’ve been gone. Lyon Around 2024-10-04 | A week ago, the worst storm to ever hit Augusta pummeled my hometown. Massive trees succumbed to 80 mph gusts and fell at almost every residence in the CSRA. We personally had 5 trees fall on our little third of an acre property. Luckily, none of them hit the house, however, that also means they’re not covered by insurance. So it was time to get busy cutting up and hauling off trees. Fortunately, no one was hurt during the storm and our home didn’t suffer any massive damage. However, we’re still without power, there’s a boil water advisory in some counties, and although the DOT is doing a lot to clear debris from the streets, it’s still pretty dangerous to drive in some areas with the trees and downed power lines. I’m first and foremost a husband and father so my primary role is to love and provide for my wife and daughters. So I promise, after the dust has settled and we’ve got this mess cleaned up, I’ll get right back on with the food challenges! Believe me, I’m excited about getting back to that, but in the meantime, I’ve got a family to take care of and huge mess to clean up! We’ve received so much help from neighbors, friends, and family and I believe real soon we’ll be back up and running full power! Thank you to all those who are helping us through this difficult time and prayers go out to those who have suffered losses! Together, we can make it through this. Just one day at a time!
