The Echo Quartz Crystal Collecting Site in McAdoo, PA DigDigDig 2020-05-31 | Here's a quick look at the popular crystal collecting locality known as "The Echo", located in Tresckow Pennsylvania. It is more popularly referred to as McAdoo, PA, but technically it is in Tresckow just near the McAdoo border. I have dug many, many crystal pockets here in past years, though I don't make it here too often recently, even though I own a place walking distance away. Every weekend there always seems to be collectors digging there. Rumor has it they may fill it in soon?...but I have been hearing that for years. It seems like it would be a huge task since the hole is so massive! In 2019, they did fill in the strip mine hole that was about half the size located across the street, so who knows...hopefully not since collecting here brings so many people joy from all around. #rockhounding #crystals

Searching for Crystals in Pennsylvania DigDigDig 2020-03-03 | Collecting quartz crystals at an abandoned coal mine that is currently undergoing reclamation in the McAdoo, PA area(Tresckow). The ground was recently moved around by heavy machinery to fill in all the strip mine holes, and crystals can be found just lying on the surface. Many are damaged from being moved around unceremoniously during mining as well as reclamation, but sometimes you can get lucky and find a large undamaged quartz crystal point or cluster.#rockhounding #rockhound #geologyrocks

BOTH a Crystal and Fossil in One! DigDigDig 2019-12-27 | Here's a few of our favorite calcite replaced fossil clams from our 3-day crystal dig collecting trip to Ruck's Pit in Okeechobee, FL. These specimens could be considered geodes, and are appealing to both mineral and fossil collectors alike. The calcite crystals glow...they are both fluorescent and phosphorescent under long wave ultraviolet(UV) light. I didn't have my convoy UV light on me here, if there is any interest, I can do a video that shows the fluorescent properties of these crystals.*CORRECTION* the first specimen is not a welk shell, it looks more like a cross between a mussel and a scallop than a welk...but we did find a couple nice welk/calcite crystal fossils digging there as well.
