Craigs WorkshopCheck out Tom's recent video (channel: Tommygun Machining) on grinding rotary broach cutters. I watched these, and I wondered if we could make a relieved hex without the parallelogram grinding jig that Tom used, and with minimal fancy equipment.
I recommend using something harder than plastic for the guide and stop, it will give a more positive result to the grinding. Also for the depth stop, it would be better to put that in front of the hex tool so you can't over grind the tool.
I recommend you move the left to right stop for the gross size adjustments (perhaps pack out with shim or feeler gauge to get a precise distance), and then fore and aft for fine tuning.
Sadly, I don't yet have a rotary broach, so I can't test the broach cutters myself. One day I will make one or buy one from Tom.

We modified this motor's shaft in a previous video, and made a pulley to go with it. Today we fabricate the motor mount, get it fitted to the frame, and do some test cuts.

I think it's been used as a bottle opener one too many times? I've attacked it with a file in the past to try to true it up, but that just makes it more and more undersized. Ted gave me a pile of tools a few months ago, and one of them was a chuck key that didn't suit any chuck I had. But - I knew with the new collet block that I could make it work for my 3-jaw chuck.

Until now I haven't been able to move it into its permanent place. So, I needed a lever dolly (like a pry bar on wheels). Here's my take on building one from scratch.
Since I couldn't see any other videos about making one, I decided to make a video about designing and making it.
Some of the materials are new, but I was able to make about half of this project from recycled steel.
Axle is made from 32mm steel round bar 2 x 6305-2RS bearings 1.5m of 50x25x3mm rectangular steel tube for the handle. 300mm of 50x12.5mm hot rolled flat bar for toe and heel

I like that my 54 year old lathe is helping to build a new generation of machine. :)

I used mostly free and recycled materials: a scrapped treadmill motor, and some aluminium from the tip shop, and some that was given to me by a friend. The VFD is the only new part here.
