How to restore inside your Fuel Cap Figaro Owners Club 2023-06-23 | Kevin gets his paintbrushes out again! Anyone following me on our YouTube Channel will be familiar with my past efforts to paint the areas of the engine bay and inside and around the rear boot gutter. I am the sort of person with OCD for cleanliness and finish and it was only a matter of time before the inside of the car's fuel cap came under scrutiny.Every time I would fill up the car I would be looking at a tired and dirty area which I know in time I would have to deal with. It is not worth spending money on having it painted at a paint shop, even I would draw the line at that! But when I found I still had the touch paint that I used on the engine and lower boot the temptation was too much as there was going to be no cost (all so I thought at the time).The process is reflectively straightforward and doesn't require any real skills. My only issue awes that when I actually inspected the area inside the cap I noticed that it only had one rubber stopper and not two. How to wash your Nissan Figaro Carpet Figaro Owners Club 2023-06-21 | Club founder Kevin brings you another helpful video, this one is on how to wash the carpets. With the car reaching the ripe old age of 32, chances are although the carpets have enjoyed hovering over the years the carpet has never been washed. Anyone who ever washed their home carpets and seen and results (normally the dirt ending up in a clear container on the machine) will know just how good cleaning tools and detergents are now.We bought a VAX Carpet Cleaner last year having seen the amazing results I was keen to try the process on Belle. As I planned to do the cleaning whilst the carpets were in to be cleaned in situ it meant waiting for the nice sunny day and weather the warm-up. I figured having the roof down, and the drying process would be helped with the sun on it too. To do the job well I decided to also remove the two front seats and bench seat. Also, I removed the 4 screws from the centre console (two at the front and two at the back) and lift this so the brush could go under that too. The cleaning process is very quick and easy and what I love about the Vac unit is you can see the dirt appearing as you work!Paint touch-up on seat framesWhilst the seats were out, I used the opportunity to re-paint some of the seat frames, bolt heads and the two car mat holders. Using quick-drying black enamel paint made them look much nicer when re-installed.Hope you enjoy the video

Norfolk Figaro Day Trip - Sunday 16th April 2023 Video Figaro Owners Club 2023-04-28 | Words and Video by Adam Woods - Eastern Chapter CoordinatorWe are so blessed in our eastern corner of the UK, to have some wonderful landscapes to enjoy! But I had promised myself for a while that we would visit the Norfolk Broads. In itself not the easiest thing to do as the roads can be very narrow... and while that makes for some great photos and videos, it could all very easily become unstuck with the wrong vehicle coming in the other direction!Well, this year for the Norfolk Day Trip, we finally did it and made a trip across the Broads... we found some routes that would provide us with great sweeping views of the countryside, while the route would include a few landmarks like the Horsey Windpump and Happisburgh Lighthouse.And so with 13 Figgys joining us, the day came, and I think this was the first properly sunny day of the year... and the first time that some of us had seen each other since last year. So, of course, there were all the hellos and catching up... but even better we had some new folk coming along, and you will be pleased to hear that our new recruits were as mad as a box of frogs as the usual Figgy folk, so they fitted right in!We met at the Waterside at Rollesby where some enjoyed some breakfast and a hot drink, and enjoyed the views across the lake... and then we were off, crossing country, past windmills, and any opportunity for a beep and a wave was taken full advantage of! Our route across the Broads was fantastic, leading us to the somewhat quirky 1940s tea rooms "Poppylands" where we celebrated one of our regular member's birthdays with cake for everyone. The surroundings at Poppylands were proper vintage 1940s, and definitely made for a very different and memorable experience.From here we headed off again across the country, yet more beeps and waves, yet more sunshine, and this time heading near to the coast and beautiful red and white stripes of Happisburgh Lighthouse. All of this of course was leading to our ultimate destination for this year's Norfolk Day Trip - East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens. Having parked up in our dedicated Figgy parking area, we were hosted by one of the owners of these wonderful gardens which he and his partner have been designing and nurturing for 50 years. Roof Gutter Trim Cleaning Video Figaro Owners Club 2023-04-21 | The roof gutter trim runs around the top and aligns with the roof liner when closed. Over the years the 'fur finish' can be damaged and or become very dirty. It is very hard to clean and make good so in this video club founder Kevin shows you how you can remove the fur and clean the trim.The process involves:- Removing the trim- Heating up 3 kettles of hot water- Adding the powder featured below (We used 6 x tablespoons)- Leaving to soak for an hour- Scrubbing off the fur and dirt- Rinsing with fresh water- Drying- Installing the trimThe whole process takes no more than two hours and looks fantastic. How to adjust your Nissan Figaro Bonnet/Hood height Figaro Owners Club 2023-04-17 | The club founder Kevin shows you how easy it is to move your Bonnet/Hood up or down and align it with the car's bodywork. Nissan provided two bonnet height adjuster rubbers which are located inside the corners of the bonnet/hood. Few owners know that these can be turned to allow the height of the bonnet to be adjusted. The process is easy and allows you to create an even gap between the body panels. They do break and wear out causing misalignment between the panels and can cause a vibrating noise to occur. Gas Struts Replacement Fitting Video - Creating, effortless opening and closing of the top boot Figaro Owners Club 2022-12-21 | With the Figaro being manufactured back in 1991, the gas within the top boot gas struts would have escaped many years ago. Typically gas struts will lose pressure (like a tyre does), through their seals over a 5 -10 years period. You can tell if yours needs replacing by simply lifting the top boot and letting it go. If it has no gas the boot will require full pressure to open and if you let it go, it will slam shut. This is not good for the boot and can create alignment issues further down the line.In the video, club founder Kevin shows in detail, how to remove the existing gas struts. Modify the new ones to fit and install. Roof Visor Accessory Fitting Video Figaro Owners Club 2022-12-20 | In this video, club founder Kevin takes you through how to fit the roof visor. The polished stainless roof visor (wind/rain deflector) was one of 55 accessories manufactured by Nissan and is attached to the door chrome trim via 3 sets of saddles. In addition to adding some more bling to the car, they work very well enabling the owner to have the window open but stopping the rain from entering the cabin. Repair - Lower boot dent repair video Figaro Owners Club 2022-12-16 | This short video may help you if your Figaro has become a victim of the small dent, usually caused by the dreaded - 'someone has opened their car door and dented my door whilst I parked my Figaro in a car park syndrome!'In this video, the club founder Kevin Fagan explains what happened to 'Belle' the club car. When cleaning the car, Kevin noticed a nasty 5mm deep dent in the lower boot door. In fairness, he goes on to explain that he may have caused the damage himself when reversing the car into the garage! Initially, Kevin thought the car would need to be taken to a body repair shop, repaired and repainted. However, when researching dent repair on the internet he noticed that by using a range of tools and techniques, dents can be removed.The cost of this repair which included another small dent above the number plate was just £80+VAT. There was no need to repaint which is always more challenging than it appears it required masking and 'blending' in the paint. Essex Figaro Day Trip - Sunday 30th October 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-11-04 | Words, Pictures and Video - Adam WoodsThis year we managed to put together five-day trips across the Eastern Region! Spookily our Halloween event would again take place in Essex! Well, it wasn't really that spooky as we had intended to do something else in Essex in September, with October planned to be a visit to IWM Duxford in Cambridgeshire, however, when that didn't work out we switched things around, did Cambridgeshire in September, and needed to come up with something for Essex for Halloween weekend!After last year's visit to a once-secret nuclear bunker, we wanted to come up with something equally as enjoyable for members to enjoy, especially as October could inevitably be less appealing weather-wise. We found Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome fairly quickly, so the next question was where we would meet and whether we then find somewhere to stop off on the way. And so began a long and onerous mission to find somewhere in Southend with decent facilities for breakfast, enough space for parking, and an outlook onto the sea. Having believed we had found somewhere we then went about finding somewhere to stop. We came across the vast complex of sites that is Battlesbridge Antiques and Craft Village and were so impressed with the site that we decided it would be better for members to meet there, and have a chance to browse (at least some of) the vast array of shops, and then take a shorter route to the aerodrome.With 17 cars signed up, the day arrived... and the rain! We were out early on the Sunday morning signposting the route, getting a little bit wet in the drizzle... just hoping it wouldn't get any worse... by the time it got to 10 am, the drizzle had turned into the rain! But we grabbed our allotted area of the car park and one by one we welcomed Figgy folk waving them to their parking spaces, dodging the odd puddle here and there. As ever it was a joy to see familiar faces, as well as welcome new members attending their first Figgy event!Once we had all had a chance to explore a bit, and grab a bite to eat, we all re-convened at 11.45 and took a few minutes to enjoy some of the crazy Halloween decorations bewitching many of the Figaros attending. Sadly two cars were unable to make it, so our final numbers were 15, but the great news was that it had stopped raining so we put our roof down, ready to film our departure from Battlesbridge, the route and the arrival at the aerodrome. We had a brief chat about the route, and after a chorus of beep beeps, we were off, dodging puddles on our way out.We headed out from Battlesbridge and selected a country route that would avoid big stretches of A road and instead take us across the country and down some lovely country lanes to enjoy the autumnal colours. While it was a very grey day, we enjoyed the drive and the route, with a particularly lovely avenue of trees along a narrow track. Our route led us on past a farm and around a field towards the gated entrance to the aerodrome... to find the gate locked! With 14 cars behind us, the prospect of reversing down a single-track road wasn't on my bucket list. After a slightly nervy few minutes the lovely people from the aerodrome came down to open the gate for us, and we rolled in and round, and onto the site to park in the central area of the aerodrome itself in our own exclusive Figgy parking area!With 14 cars behind us, the prospect of reversing down a single-track road wasn't on my bucket list. Having parked up we were warmly welcomed by the team at Stow Maries Aerodrome and were all given chance to get ourselves a bite to eat, after which we split into two groups to be given tours of the site by the volunteers. And as we did, the sun came out, and the cloud lifted! Stow Maries Aerodrome does indeed hail from the Great War over 100 hundred years ago, and it was fascinating to learn about the site as well as some of the amazing vehicles including a 100-year-old electric lorry!! Our guide was a fascinating chap who dispensed so much information in a friendly and accessible way - we thoroughly enjoyed it!And, so the day came to an end - one by one Figgy folk departed with a beep and a wave... and we headed off, to take down all the signs we had put up that morning!2022 WHAT A YEAR!After our first year of doing the day trips last year when we had 4 events and welcomed 33 different members, this year our 5 events saw us welcome 48 different members, 16 of whom attended multiple events we had organised. Cambridgeshire Figaro Day Trip Video – Sunday 18th September 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-09-21 | Words, Pictures and Video Adam WoodsWe started planning the Cambridgeshire Day Trip a few months ago, and not knowing that side of the region quite as well, I really struggled to find a nice venue where we could meet in a lovely setting with decent parking, while also finding a suitable destination around an hour away with some nice places to visit along the way. In the end, with 6 weeks to go, we found a lovely little venue in St Ives called Slepe Hall, some gorgeous countryside, towns and villages to drive through, and the historic house and grounds of Deene Park, just across the border in Northamptonshire.Just 10 days before we all heard the sad news that HM The Queen had passed away, and with the funeral scheduled for the day after our day trip, I knew that the usual energy and enthusiasm from our Figgy fans would be a little muted compared to normal. So, we reviewed the route and tweaked it a little so that we could spend more time in the open countryside – it just seemed a little more appropriate for what would be a more reflective weekend.Sadly a couple of members had car trouble in the days before the trip, and on the day itself, another car overheated on the way over – but most important was that everyone was safe.With two cars joining us over at Deene Park, eight cars met at Slepe Hall … and after some breakfast and refreshments, we met in front of the grand exterior of the hotel, ready for our trip. Rather than the usual beeps, everyone waved, and we agreed that if anyone didn’t wish to beep as we went along, of course, they shouldn’t feel obliged to at all.The weather was already a little changeable, but as we set out from St Ives the sun was peeping out between the clouds. After the necessary but not very thrilling route around the outskirts of Huntingdon, we headed out through the Stukeleys, on through Alconbury, over the bridge, and were then surprised to meet a vintage car convoy heading in the opposite direction. And so we headed out into the beautiful rolling countryside, sweeping across fields so that drivers and passengers could enjoy the lovely scenery. We then dropped down towards the market town of Oundle, and drove through the centre with a few beeps and waves, complimenting the beautiful stone buildings. From here we headed out again, passing through the Benefields and on towards Deene Park.We passed through the gatehouse, up the sweeping drive joined by two more members taking us up to the full complement of 10 cars. And so we arrived at our own Figgy Parking by the bridge in front of the house. From here some picnicked and chatted while others wandered the gardens, until the Tudor and Georgian Mansion opened at 2pm, greeted by our warm and generous host Charlotte Brundenell. She happily welcomed us to her beautiful home.On what was a very unusual weekend with the Queen’s funeral the next day, the expanses of countryside and rolling fields certainly felt like the right environment to enjoy in the circumstances. CarFest South Video - Friday 26th to Sunday 28th August 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-09-02 | Words and Video by Adam WoodsWho would have thought that owning a car could bring so much joy?? Here's the story of CarFest South 2022! After lots of discussion with our very own CarFest Supremo Ken, and guidance (of course!) from Kevin, back in November we took on the reigns to organise the club's attendance at CarFest South! After months of registrations, and hundreds of emails with the organisers we were pleased to confirm 7 club members participating on the Figaro Owners Club stand for 2022! Registrations complete, health and safety sorted, camping arranged and stand rota distributed, we set off from Suffolk in our Figaro Sparky for the 3 hour trip to Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, in mini convoy with our S-Cargo Flash who was doing the donkey work with the tent, gazebo, flags and hundreds of leaflets! We arrived on-site at around 2pm and after saying hello to the first arrivals from our group and getting our tent up, after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, we got everyone's passes sorted and headed over to set up the stand. By 6.30pm we were back over on the campsite to find that a village of Figgy fans had grown up around our tent, getting ready for the bite to eat we had arranged to help everyone get to know each other. We managed to get everyone into Emma's Pao Pablo or our Snail Flash, and headed over to the White Hart in Overton a couple of miles away. It was lovely meeting member over there, having a chat and getting increasingly excited for the days ahead! After some of us partook of a few celebratory beverages back on the campsite, we were all up and over at the stand to get our Figs in place, putting the finishing touches in place, and ready for our team briefing at 10am the next morning! With that done, we all had the chance to go and have a look around CarFest before it officially opened at 12 noon. What an amazing site it was with whole areas dedicated to different things; food, spa, kids, adventure, retro, and of course lots of car related things like the paddock and car club areas... and then there were the star and music stages! From 12 noon on day one and 10am on the following days we had a steady stream of visitors - other members, people who already owned a Fig, people who have always wanted one, and of course those who are convinced they are Fiats built in the 60s! Our lovely members were amazing, chatting away, sharing stories, answering questions, and just embodying the love of all things Figaro! And along the way we all had a chat and a laugh - what a truly amazing bunch of people who it was an honour to spend time with! While everyone needed to spend just over 2 hours on the stand each day, none of us could help but return for more - what a fantastic Figgy family! And when it got to 7pm we could all head off to enjoy the evening and night's entertainment, see some amazing acts and partake of a few more beverages, returning to camp to chat and smile and laugh. Oh, and let's not forget the little bit of track time we had and the drive out to Overton on Saturday - heading out in convoy with the other car clubs - unsurprisingly the Figaros got the biggest cheers thanks to our incessant beeping! And of course our celebrity visitors who were invited to join us in some beep beeps over on the stand (you will have to see who in the video!). CarFest was worth every second - not just because of the entertainment and the other stands, but because we could share the experience with some fantastic Figgy fans who undoubtedly completed the experience together as great friends, and barely being able to wait until One Big CarFest at Laverstoke Park next year!! My goodness, Figaro life is just so flipping fantastic! Figaro Hertfordshire Day Trip Video – Sunday 10th July 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-07-25 | Words, Pictures and Video by Adam WoodsAs the Eastern Chapter includes Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, it was about time we did an event over on that side of the region rather than Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex as we have before! As usual, I set about planning with the original aim to find a decent venue to meet for Breakfast, a nice place to stop en route, and then the final destination. The final destination was always Knebworth House, a beautiful neo-gothic mansion just outside Stevenage. We had secured a real rarity – access to park up (and take lots of photos!) in the House Courtyard, so that was a done deal… we had also sorted a nice farm shop to stop at on the way, so it was the starting point we needed to sort – however an impressive hotel for breakfast with sufficient parking for everyone just wasn’t available.So, we thought again, consulted with some local area knowledge (thanks Jules and Tracylouise!) and we returned to a previous consideration Dunstable Downs, and decided to start the day trip from there.Risk assessments completed, website content prepared, the event announced, members emailed, registrations received, route checked… and the day arrived!We had arranged our own exclusive Figgy Parking at Dunstable Downs, and one by one our 12 cars arrived, with a lovely mix of long-term members and new owners. We had decided to spend longer at Dunstable Downs as our meeting place, and with gorgeous weather, we are really glad we did – the setting looking out across the gorgeous rolling countryside was incredible, and of course, other visitors and their inevitable questions made a beeline for our line of Figgy’s! And because we spent a little more time at our meeting place than normal, it was really nice to have a little more time to chat and catch up.At 12 noon we were ready and having done on our traditional beep beeps we started out from our amazing meeting place, heading off in convoy, along the carefully selected route that would take us through towns and villages as well as across the country, doing our best to avoid busier roads. Also, when chatting with members Nigel and Julia, they mentioned some friends of there’s would be along the route ready and waiting for the beeps and waves!We managed to stay in convoy pretty much all the way, had a fair few beeps and waves, and of course, also enjoyed the glorious summer sunshine!Upon arriving at Knebworth, one by one we drove through the entry gate and prepared to drive up to the manor house, while the team radioed ahead to the House to let them know we were on our way. And so we set off, heading up the sweeping drive across the extensive grounds, and on towards the house where we were greeted with the gates of the Courtyard swinging open, allowing us entry to park up in front of the neo-gothic manor house! What an amazing setting, made even better by the amazing weather, and the lovely team at Knebworth allowing us to access up one of the towers to take some amazing photos!And from here we had our own Figgy Parking a short distance from the House, with Figgys sheltering from the sun, picnics out and some nice chit chat and time to relax! Figaro Suffolk Day Trip - Sunday 19th June 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-06-24 | Words, Pictures and Video by Adam WoodsWith Aldeburgh being such a well-loved destination and the warm welcome we had from their mayor last year, we were still determined to do something a little different, so we switched our starting point from Woodbridge to Beccles so we could experience a different route through the Suffolk countryside! We had a good look at what route we could take, and discovered the beautifully remodelled grounds of Heveningham Hall – based on the original design planned by Capability Brown – so that was a must… with the route finalised, we took the event live!We were so delighted with the response, and at one stage had 20 cars attending! Inevitably things can get in the way, so in the end, we had 16 which is a fantastic number for a day out like this! We had been out and signposted the route, as usual, the night before, and had also dropped an email out to everyone following news reports of road surfaces suffering in the summer heat! And it didn’t help that I had a stinky cold, but we weren’t going to let that get in the way!!Even before the day trip itself, there were three particularly wonderful highlights we were looking forward to! Firstly, two of the cars attending are owned by new Figgy owners who happened to see us all in Aldeburgh last year, and off the back of that decided to buy Figaros! How amazing is that – so very special thanks are due to Eddie and Alison Young, as well as Caroline Wolton! Secondly, we were also lucky enough to meet Tricia and Dave Rix who had just purchased a Figaro, but weren’t quite ready to take it out on the road just yet! They joined people for breakfast and were so excited to meet other Figgy fans, getting tips and tricks and enjoying a good chat! And last but never by any means least the final delight would be meeting again all those lovely Figgy folk we have been lucky enough to get to know over the last year – you are such a wonderful bunch of people!And so the day came, and after a bit of a jiggling around in the hotel car park, we managed to get all the cars together to take the obligatory “BEEP BEEP” that it’s now tradition to herald the start of our day out! We set off through the centre of Beccles at 11am (possibly still a little early for some locals) and then across the country through some villages, woods and rolling countryside, and on through the market town of Halesworth where we took another little tour with some Beeps and Waves through the town centre. Then it was back across the country heading over towards Heveningham, and that promise of beautiful grounds. It really wasn’t a disappointment with steady rolling countryside proving to be a marvellous backdrop to our Figgy cavalcade!We swung on down to Yoxford and then after a few miles of A road we arrived at Friday Street with its newly expanded farm shop, and the treasure trove of antiques at The Barn! As usual, the Figgys were very popular, with one lady seemingly keen to tour around them in her 10 years younger Nissan Micra!With a chorus of beeps, we swung out from Friday Street, heading down towards the coast. This stretch of road is always quite busy so sadly our entourage did get split up by other cars… but we continued on to the picturesque whimsical holiday village of Thorpeness with its quirky House in the Clouds and artificial boating lake known as The Meare. With more Beeps and Waves we headed along the coast towards our final destination of the front at Aldeburgh by the Moot House and the warm welcome from the new Mayor! As ever once the cars were parked up the locals and visitors to Aldeburgh swarmed around the Figgys with lots of smiles and even more questions!And so our day trip was complete, sharing another great day with Figgy friends, old and new, experiencing the shared warmth of happiness and fun that our Figgys bring with them everywhere we go! French Figaro Adventure – 3rd to 6th June 2022 - Part Two Figaro Owners Club 2022-06-23 | Enjoy this video of our latest adventure in France. We hope you enjoy Part 2.WORDS AND VIDEO ADAM WOODSSunday brought uncertain weather with clouds and the prospect of rain, but undaunted we headed over to Laon where our Figgy’s were specially parked in their own special area as Marque of the Show! Lots of chances to give our Figgy’s a polish, have a chat, and then wander around the beautiful ancient commune of Laon which rises hundreds of meters above the otherwise flat Picardy plain! After a quick bite to eat it was time to head over to the town hall for the launch of the street circuit event of the day. We were ready with our cameras and had already decided one of us would film out the back of Sparky so we could capture the day... and while it started to rain, we weren't going to be defeated and decided to continue as planned! the street circuit was brilliant, travelling across the cobbles, down streets beautifully decorated with colourful balloons and many a poster showcasing the Figaro as the Marque of the Show! And the reaction from locals and visitors was tremendous with lots of waves, cheers, and of course our corresponding beeps! After a few circuits, our drive came to an end, so we took a little more time to enjoy the beauty of Laon and then attended the closing ceremony where there were lots of cheers and celebrations for the Figaro and a special prize for the club! After this, we met up with plenty of Figgy folk for a group photo outside of the Cathedral, followed by a great meal across the square. What a lovely friendly crowd Figgy folk are! Lots of chat and lots of laughter, and thanks to everyone for joining in on the table by a table of Beep Beeps we filmed! What a fantastic night!We already knew we would be a little worse for wear to do the organised day trip on the last day so we made our own way to Amien in the sunshine and had a relaxing time wandering around this city of canals and another beautiful Cathedral, ahead of catching the Chunnel back later that afternoon. We were lucky enough to meet with Kitty and Andrew on the Eurotunnel, giving us all chance to look back with our remembering of what had been a fantastic few days away! French Figaro Adventure – 3rd to 6th June 2022 - Part One Figaro Owners Club 2022-06-23 | Enjoy this video of our latest adventure in France. WORDS AND VIDEO BY ADAM WOODSThe chance to not only attend a Figgy event in France but also for our beloved cars to be the Marque of the Show was too good an opportunity to miss. And in a series of firsts, this would not only be my first time taking our Figaro Sparky overseas but also my first time driving abroad! So, a few months ago we booked our places, and then as the day came nearer, we turned our minds to getting Sparky ready for the longest trip we would have taken so far! With the full service and MOT done in April, we elected to get all the hoses and leads replaced, buying all the gubbins from the wonderful Nic Caraccio to get them all fitted ahead of the journey. After a last-minute issue and a replacement distributor cap and rotor arm from Auto Jap Spares, we were ready... albeit that we seemed to have developed a minor oil leak...But we were ready, and the night before headed down from Suffolk to stay at a hotel in Kent, ready for our departure bright and early the next morning! Imagine our delight when we arrived at Folkestone, to find some Figgy friends queuing alongside us at the Chunnel! After a quick catch-up, we were ready to depart in convoy heading into the Chunnel for the 30-minute or so journey! Our carriage had a couple of non-Figgy cars, but predictably the conversation became all about Figaros with lots of questions about what they are, how many there were, and of course the colours! Exiting at the other end, we found ourselves pretty much immediately out of the terminal and let loose on the French roads, but thankfully onto the French motorways which are at a charge, but worth it if you want to get from A to B as easily as possible. We all kept in convoy, heading along the coast towards our first stop at Le Touquet where the trip organisers had arranged some Figgy Parking. After some relaxation and chat with Figgy folk, we headed off again towards Laon and our hotels... with a few showers along the way! The next morning it was all about registration at Parc Foch where the Figaro was in pride of place as the Marque of the Show! My goodness, it was amazing to see over 40 Figgys on display up at Parc Foch. We collected our packs, bought some merchandise, and got ourselves ready for the next part of the day which was a tour across the French Countryside on Route B. With lots of opportunities to see our Figgys in the sweeping countryside and of course the essential beeps and waves through the villages, we were ably led by Kitty with Kevin on hand to take some amazing photos along the way. We even managed to pull over so we could take a fantastic group photo altogether, and then headed on to Saint Quentin for some lunch and a parade. After a challenging time parking, we were finally there and enjoyed seeing the cars parked up and of course the various bands that processed through the centre in honour of the event. The one thing that now became really obvious was how little known the Figaro is in France compared to the UK. Even more questions and looks of surprise made for even more Smiles from locals and visitors alike. There was another event later in the afternoon but we decided to head back to the hotel so we could have a chance to relax ahead of the Circuit drive the next day. French Figaro Adventure - 3rd - 6th June 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-06-10 | Laon Historique Annual Pilgrimage is the biggest classic car pilgrimage in Europe and attracts up to 800 cars (600 this year). This was the first time our club had been invited to attend this event and it didn’t disappoint. 42 cars had registered but we lost 2 due to Covid!Most cars travelled from the UK making their way to Calais on Friday, although like Sue and I, many arrived on Thursday and stayed overnight at the channel tunnel Premier Inn. On a Friday morning, some travelled on the tunnel, but most decided to take the ferry.We took the tunnel and arrived at Calais in just 30 minutes. Setting the Google maps to Le Touquet where the plan was to break up the journey. The weather was perfect with dry roads and roof-down driving. After an hour the beach came into view where we were signalled to park in the large car parks. It didn’t take long before a large line of Figs came into view. Most of us went for a walk along the seafront to enjoy the sunshine. We found a beach bar and enjoyed some cold drinks and pizza with our Dans and James and Belinda Richardson. Fed and watered we commenced the 3-hour drive to our hotel which was located 20 mins from Laon. Unsurprisingly, we were not the only members staying at the Du Golf Hotel with the car park sharing our little cars along with some Italian super cars!On Saturday we made our way to the Laon meeting place of Parc Foch where the cars had premier parking along with the other marque of the show, the Mazda MX5. Parked in two lines I counted exactly 40 cars of mixed colours. It was a delight in the sunshine seeing everyone hooking up after the last two years of lockdown. We had to collect our rally bags which contained the route and rally plate.At 10:30 it was time to leave the field and head off in convoy towards Saint Quentin. As I was keen to take pics and videos Kitty and Andrew led the way (no pressure!). As we left the busy town the roads became almost empty with just us on them. The countryside was amazing with very few houses or buildings, just fields and yet more fields. Andrew decided to pull up so we could re-group and this is where the group shot was taken.Arriving at Saint Quentin was not a great experience as the traffic built and we ended up sitting in the car as the heat became unbearable. We ended up parking after what seemed to be a good hour of waiting – not impressed! The drive back was most welcome as a chance to cool down and a much-needed swim in the pool. Sunday came with a mixed bag of weather predicted. We made our way to the parking area and met all the members parked up. Most went for a bite to eat returning to the cars for 2:30 departure. The rain started as we started our parade lap in convoy. Unfortunately, it didn’t take long for us to get broken up as cars pulled which was rather annoying. The route took about 15 minutes, and the streets were full of people waving as we drove past hooting and waving. Many did the route two or three times. In fact, it became a challenge to find an exit area as this was not that well signposted.Back in the hotel, several members hooked up for a group meal back in the town where two restaurants were used to accommodate us all. On Monday, most headed back to Calais, but some stayed for an extended holiday. What a brilliant experience this was even if it did rain on our parade on Sunday! Norfolk Day Trip Sunday 15th May 2022 Figaro Owners Club 2022-05-23 | After the success of last year’s Norfolk Day Trip, we wanted this years to be as good but a bit different. This time we wanted to do the North West of Norfolk rather than the North East, and set about planning. After some initial plans fell through, we came up with a final route, arranged places to meet, stop, and of course our final destination. We always drive the route again a week or two before just to make sure that everything will be okay. Thank goodness we did as we discovered that some roadworks had been delayed and the temporary road surface would have been no good at all! We found an alternative route which was actually much better than our original one, but also took longer, making our final destination of Thetford Forest impossible… so an alternative final destination had to be found too with only a week to go, but fortunately, Castle Acre agreed that we could conclude our trip there. Once we let everyone attending know, we were finally on track for the big day! The last step was to signpost the route the night before, and we were mightily relieved there weren’t any last-minute surprises! The only uncertainty was the weather… And so the big day arrived with everyone arriving at our special Figgy Parking on the Green in Burnham Market and breakfast at The Hoste Arms. The parish council had kindly agreed for us to park on the Green and had announced we would be there in the local newsletter, so we had a fair few locals and visitors coming to see the cars with all the usual questions! We were also delighted to welcome members who had attended events previously, as well as some new members who were attending their first Figgy event!! Oh, and a lovely couple who were holidaying in Norfolk on the same weekend joined our group! From Burnham Market our alternative route led us across some single-track country lanes that provided some fantastic sights for our Figgys… anyone who thinks Norfolk is flat should see some of the lovely hills and valleys we crossed in convoy for the first stage of our Norfolk tour! Our route took us through Ringstead, through Old Hunstanton and onto the Cliff Parade in Hunstanton with lots of beeps and waves! We continued on through Hunstanton and down to Heachem for our visit to Norfolk Lavender where we had arranged to park up on the drive which was a beautiful sight in glorious sunshine! Norfolk Lavender was a real delight, with extensive facilities many were saying they would return to again, but we had places to be, so we headed out of the beautiful drive, following through the villages of Snettisham and Ingoldisthorpe in convoy, skirting around Dersingham to stop briefly on the lovely wide avenue that leads to Sandringham Estate! We had lost one of our number along the way, but were mightily relieved when they popped round the corner to re-join the group as we headed off from Sandringham, down beautiful avenues of trees, a brief section of A road and then through Little and Great Massingham with some more beeps and waves! And so to our final destination, Castle Acre, a beautiful extensive ruined monastery. As this was a last-minute change, we couldn’t guarantee the cars would be parked together, but as luck would have it we just about managed it! Not to mention of course the wonderful welcome we received from Steve and Janet who couldn’t attend with their Figgy but were there to welcome everyone as we arrived – what legends! And that was it, now the day was everyone’s to do as they wished, and what was particularly lovely was the impromptu picnic that took place on the ground, with lots of lovely chat, relaxing in the sun… and yes, we were so lucky with the weather. Fun Filled Figaro Weekend in the Cotswolds Video Figaro Owners Club 2022-04-21 | After a 2 year delay, Over the weekend of the 8th - 9th of April 2022, 30 x Figaros enjoyed a fun-filled adventure exploring the amazing scenic roads and stunning scenery.Figaro’s finally descended on the Cotswolds at the weekend. Thank you to Amanda Langard for organising such a fantastic rally. We followed her yellow fig ‘Miss Daisy’ along winding routes that took us through gorgeous countryside and chocolate box villages, with some lovely stops along the way. We also overindulged at The Pudding Club on Saturday night, where we were treated to 5 different desserts!! A big part of the weekend was raising money for Charity. The rally members raised an incredible £1492 over the 2 days, through a charity raffle and a Figaro auction. Amanda is donating £1092 to the local Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven and £400 is going to our very own superhero Veronica Young who is raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support in Moray. Thank you to everyone who donated a raffle and auction prize and who dug deep to buy tickets and bid on items. Apple Air Tag is the low-cost security device for tracking & locating your stolen Figaro Figaro Owners Club 2022-02-17 | An Apple Air Tag has been around for about a year and was designed to track all manner of things: people, belongings, pets and even vehicles. So, priced at just £29 with no ongoing subscription cost, could this device also be used to track and locate the whereabouts of your Figaro, if it’s stolen?Watch this comprehensive Video test by club founder Kevin Fagan when he bought the AirTag and carried out a test by placing it in the lower boot of their Figaro (named Belle). Kevin's wife Sue then drove the car into the nearby town of High Wycombe for the weekly shop. The results were simply astounding because, within just 3 minutes of leaving the house, Kevin's iPhone had located the car. 10 minutes later the phone actually 'pinged' with a text message saying "Figaro this item was seen near the cinema" just before the car was parked in the ASDA car park.So the key question I suspect most owners want to be answered is could an AirTag help track down a stolen Figaro. I’d give that a qualified ‘yes’. But let’s be clear about the Air Tag’s limitations. This is not a great device for live tracking. Don’t think that if you see your car being stolen off the drive, you’ll be able to see a little dot moving across Apple Maps, plotting the car’s 'live journey'. It’s not a GPS tracker and the updates provided from an AirTag are sporadic.HOW DOES IT WORK?The AirTag works by connecting to nearby iPhones or iPads using ultra-wideband technology? That has a maximum range of about 30ft (9m). The key thing is that the AirTag doesn’t have to lock on to your iPhone to provide a location - it will latch onto any modern iPhone or iPad. If your car thief happens to have an iPhone on them, the updates might be regular. If not, you could be waiting ten minutes, half an hour or even hours between location updates, because it will need someone to pass close by with an iPhone/iPad.This obviously means that the AirTag is a much better tracker in busy urban environments than it is in rural areas. If your stolen car is dumped down a quiet country lane or in the middle of nowhere, the chances of your AirTag locking onto a nearby iPhone are obviously greatly reduced. That said, the AirTag has managed to accurately locate the parked location of Belle when Sue took it shopping. When she’s parked the Figaro, the location was accurate enough to reveal what part of the open-air car park she was parked in, meaning I’d be confident of finding Belle if it were stolen and dumped with the AirTag inside!One of the advantages of using an AirTag rather than a GPS system to track a vehicle is that it can still locate cars in underground car parks. And if you’re trying to locate your vehicle in said car park, the ‘Precise Finding’ feature (only available on iPhone 11 or 12 models) might even help you pinpoint the car’s exact location in that car park, although by the time Precise Finding kicks in you’ll probably be able to see the car anyway.Note from the screenshot (see link below) that the Find My app provides a precise address for the AirTags location, complete with postcode (or zip code), as well as a time for when it was last located. Silverstone Lap Of Lights 2022 Video Figaro Owners Club 2022-01-05 | 11 Figs attended on the 3rd January 2022. Follow them as they drive a lap around the 3.6-mile world-famous circuit which included 440 laser beams, 400,000 festive lights, and a hidden Santa within each part of the world. Making our way onto the track, cars were kept at 5mph along the asphalt - the same graced by the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel who each changed the face of racing.Making our way around, members were met with scenes from around the globe - a huge lit-up pyramid to signify Egypt, overhead lanterns for Asia, and icebergs and polar bears to let us know when we were in the Arctic. In-between the continents and when approaching the iconic home straight, huge lights and lasers swept across the track. Thanks to everyone who supported the event.
Nissan Figaro Rear-View Mirror Restoration Video Figaro Owners Club 2021-12-13 | If you closely at your rear-view mirror you may see unsightly dark spots or black edges. This is the effect of excess moisture entering the layer between the silver and the backing. This causes the bond to break and the silvering to chip off behind the glass and oxidise. There is a way to solve this by replacing the mirror. As the whole unit is unavailable from Nissan, club founder Kevin takes you through the process of replacing just the mirror insert. This involves removing the mirror assembly from the car, taking the mirror out, replacing it with a brand new one available from The Figaro Shop and re-installing the whole unit back into the car. Note: Note! The original mirror glass is manufactured in a wedge form. The new glass is not a wedge so the high beam anti-dazzle feature will not work as it did before. Norfolk Figaro Day Out 2021 Figaro Owners Club 2021-10-23 | Enjoy this short video of our Eastern-based chapter club members on a fun day out. The amazing 30th Birthday bash set the benchmark, followed by our Suffolk Day Trip in July, Helmingham Hall Classic Car Show in August, and then this the Norfolk Day Trip in September!We had hoped to end our day trip across Norfolk at Cromer, parking up on the front, but after lots of enquiries there was no way we could persuade the local council to make it happen, so we needed to come up with a plan B that members could really enjoy!Members numbering 16 cars and 37 humans met and parked up in the rear gardens of "Sea Marge" boutique hotel in Cromer where many had pre-ordered breakfast, ready for the day ahead! Fantastic to see some now-familiar faces along with some people we had not been lucky enough to meet before - always so wonderful to meet Figaro members who are always so fun and full of life!So, we headed out from Cromer, along through to Cromer, through the centre and round to the front in a fleet of Figaros beep-beeping our horns at everyone who waved and pointed and smiled. From Cromer we headed our across country through Bodham, past Holt and through Letheringsett until we arrived at our stop at "Back to the Garden" a lovely converted barn with butchers, deli and shop and amazing organic food. The venue had kindly set an area aside for us so that we could park up our cars and get a bit to eat and do a bit of shopping.Next was a journey across country again through Glandford, Wiveton, Morston and Stiffkey, and then onto Wells-next-the-Sea where our convoy greeted locals and tourists with our beep-beeps, creating quite a spectacle as Figaro after Figaro passed through... and then finally onto our final destination Holkham Hall, an 18th Century Palladian style house set in a thriving 25,000 acre estate!For Holkham we had arranged special access up their drive from the South, and my goodness what a long drive that was with so many Figaros out in the sun! Along the drive, past the famous obelisk, and sweeping round towards the front of the hall where we had arranged for our Figaros to park up in pride of place! So popular is this venue that there were already some vintage tractors booked to park up in the morning before us.As we were a little early our cars and the tractors made for an interesting spectacle for all the hall's visitors on what became a sunnier and sunnier day... they were soon gone though, and then followed quite a stream of visitors coming to have a look at our lovely collection of cars!Members could then enjoy the rest of the day was they wished with the Hall, grounds and the discounted entry we had for the Walled Gardens which were quite a sight.Another amazing day with a lovely crowd of people, and the joy of enjoying the Norfolk countryside in a fleet of Figaros! How to repair the Nissan Figaro Trim using a Self Adhesive Seal Strip Video Figaro Owners Club 2021-09-15 | Club founder Kevin has a go at repairing the Nissan Figaro rubber seal that runs around the car. The stainless-steel strips enhance the appearance of the body shape along the length of both sides. These strips are finished with rubber seals/gaskets to not only protect the bodywork from damage from the hard stainless steel, but also as a finisher of the strips. Over time the rubber hardens and cracks or crumbles off which looks unsightly. The Figaro Shop have created a self-adhesive rubber seal with the same profile which can be applied to the trim. You will need to remove the trim from the car and cut off the existing trim. Kevin shows you how to do this, along with applying the new seal and reinstalling the trim.NOTE REGARDING POSSIBLE SHRINKING IN HEAT AFTER INSTALLATIONAfter over 1,000m so far of this, we have not personally seen any issue with shrinking but a simple solution would be to apply some double-sided tape (tape only, not the foam-backed variants) on the other side of the seal before fitting it to the body of the vehicle. Once the chrome is clipped down to the body, it should squeeze the rubber seal between the chrome and body keeping it firmly in place. We have fitted and sold countless kits with great results so I would say that it could be that the clips holding the chrome are not secure enough…but every car does differ so the double-sided tape solution would work really well.
