Why 2K for your films? - Nicholas Coyle Film and Video Transfer Nicki Coyle 2018-03-26 | Some people might ask "Why 2K for my films?" 8mm and Super8 both have a resolution of roughly HD, while 16mm has a resolution of roughly 4K. Each of these formats definitely benefit from higher definition transfers, and because these formats have a natural aspect ratio of 4:3, they do not normally "fit" into an HD frame (aspect ratio of 16:9) without black bars or cropping. 2K, specifically the 2048x1554 frame (aspect ratio of 4:3) solves this issue while maximizing the transfer of information.Learn more at http://www.nicholascoyle.com/media-transfer
