Through his images he captures multiple realities of the immigrant experience.Enri builds on his Albania Homecoming story using the dreamy visual tone of Polaroid film—and the nostalgia of black and white—to reimagine the daily life he could have lived in his home country had he not emigrated at an early age. Enri uses the sharp I-2 lens to capture these new, clear memories in detail – as if he’s freezing them in time. “Shooting with Polaroid was more meaningful because of the connection that you have with people. It’s a connection you immediately make when you give them the physical print. And for me, this kind of connection and the surprise you can see in their eyes is really beautiful.”

Her ongoing photography project—Modern Iran—is her attempt to capture a portrait of her ever-changing homeland. For this partnership she captures the daily lives of locals living in the Middle East’s highest plateau.“Damavand Mountain is very important in our culture. In Iranian culture, there are a lot of mythological stories and folklore stories about the mountain. So it's a beautiful area, but also historically quite an important place.”Newsha shoots around the mountain with the I-2 connected to a high-speed flash sync. Allowing her to freeze moments as they happen while still keeping detail in the dramatic backdrop. Her story documents all the ways this landscape provides for its people – both as a home, a hot spring and a source of fresh water.As Newsha says, “She is a very generous mountain.”

But people want to be seen. People want to be heard.”Jim Goldberg has been working with experimental storytelling for over 40 years and is known for his innovative use of text and image. For this partnership, Jim extends Polaroid images with text to encapsulate those living in two small Arkansas Delta communities that he sees as a “microcosm of what is going on socially and politically in the rest of the States”.Since his first visit in 2020, Jim has been returning to this community again and again – often without taking photos at all. He spends his time slowly earning trust and immersing himself in the local culture. Four years later, Jim is still collecting more perspectives that will one day make up a larger body of work.Polaroid cameras have been a part of Jim’s practice for decades. He believes the medium helps him connect with the people he’s shooting. He gives his subjects their portraits as both a keepsake and a canvas to express themselves. This practice helps each person “become the picture” by bringing these deeply personal quotes to life through text and collage on the portraits themselves.
