I still get chills every time Devil's Recitation syncs up with the final build up of the chorus, it's just an incredible moment even now.It's so, so cheesy but I can't describe the wonderful warm feelings I get when I hear this game's music. Everything comes together to create a really eerie, but lonely feeling - fitting for a mansion of animals. Upon listening to this a few times I really took notice of the part at 1:47; I had never noticed or paid any attention to the harpsichord (is that it?) supporting the main melody, it's so delicate. MoF Kanakos Theme: The Venerable Ancient Battlefield ~ Suwa Foughten Field (RE-EXTENDED) ScarletFlameFlandre 2021-07-25 | Kanako Yasaka's theme from Touhou 10: Mountain of FaithHands down, one of the greatest final boss themes in the entire series.There is so much I want to say but don't have the language to say it.The entire section from 0:11 to 0:22 is just one of my favourite parts of any theme. How it just immediately quiets any energy from the opener, like Kanako is taking her time to gather power before her attack. The added wind is so atmospheric, and it sort of sounds like some kind of electric sitar is being used in the background. And this doesn't even mention just how incredibly powerful the actual main parts of this theme are, the way it builds and crescendos throughout before coming back to this quiet moment. It just feels like the theme of a god.I've wanted to mention in all of the MoF videos, I strongly associate these themes with SOUND HOLIC's 2007 album 風 -KAZE-. I know it's not really the place to bring up doujin music, but I wanted to mention this one because I have been listening to it since my earliest days as a Touhou fan and to me it's just inseperable from how I hear Mountain of Faith's tracks. It's on YouTube if you ever want to listen to it - if you know SOUND HOLIC, it's like nothing they're known for now, so it's worth a listen if you're interested. MoF Stage 2 Theme: Road of the Misfortune God ~ Dark Road (RE-EXTENDED) ScarletFlameFlandre 2021-07-10 | The Stage 2 theme from Touhou 10: Mountain of FaithAfter all these years, seeing the new translation finally made me look up the word apotropaic. I think I always assumed it had something to do with misfortune - never knew it meant to protect against evil. The more you know.I find Stage 2 is always a trickly spot when it comes to music. You have to bridge this gap between the first stage which gets all the attention, and the third stage which tends to be where the plot kicks off and the difficulty spikes. It's always hard to follow up.However, this theme is really enjoyable. I love the key change at 0:43, and then again at 0:55 where the intensity ramps up again. It's so fun!
