Considering Orange | My Favorite Orange Color Palette!! Scrapcraft & Stitchery 2025-09-30 | I am continuing to explore orange. Orange is such a great fall color, so this is a great way to transition from summer to fall. I am really excited to explore these color combinations, rusty red oxide, a little yellow ocher and a beautiful prussian blue to give shadow and contrast. This is a yummy color combo that is outside my usual palette, but I think I might find myself reaching for a lot now. The act of turning to some simple creative exercises, placing stickers, making a simple leaf stamp, decorating a page, helped me to move from a state of frustration back to a peaceful center. This year, this has been the lesson that has come to me again and again. It gets easier with practice and I am grateful to find myself in a place where I can slip into the pages and find a salve for my hurts, a place where the disappointments of life slip away as creativity reminds me again and again what really matters. The postage stamp card is made entirely from purchased ephemera, washi tape, scrapbook paper, postage stickers, rubber stamps. I had collected all this in my stash and today was the day it all came out to play! On the other end of the spectrum, the flower journal card is entirely original art. So often, I just want to create and don't even think to go to my stash of collected goodies. In the second part of the video, I make my own foam flower stamps. Don't worry, I walk you through the whole process and I have made the flower prints available on my Ko-fi shop! Every week she pulls 2 prompts and makes a piece of junk journal ephemera for each prompt. Feel free to join in and craft along and be sure to search #50stackchallenge7 for more inspiring prompt responses. I create 2 mixed media journal cards every week for this challenge. For Green Tree, I use stencils to create a green pine forest, pretty simple. I will chat you though the whole process, so grab your favorite beverage and settle in, or maybe craft along!I pull out some ephemera from a scrapbooking kit that I have had in my stash for a long time, add some grungy lace and some grungier leftover paint waste paper. This makes for a lovely journaling card with some pockets and tuck spots for a TON of writing space. The card also has a little humor added, which I hope you will enjoy. Amy picks 2 prompts randomly, and announces them every Monday. Week 1, the prompts were Ripped and Sticker. Check out Amy's channel to follow along; search the hashtag to see what other collaborators are making! I am a little late learning about this, so I am playing catch up! For my ephemera, I am going make a stack of 50 journal cards. My plan is to make 50 collages over the next 25 weeks on 4 x 6 cards according to the prompts. This is the first time I am participating and the idea of having a growing pile of journal card collages is really exciting. To get started, I used both prompts for both my cards. I was really excited about using my Bibliophilia sticker book for making focal points on my collage. I really had fun using a mystery sticker for the first card, check it out to see what it is! The second card, you know me, I just couldn't help but make it a mini book, spontaneously, in the middle of crafting it. Watch while I figure out how to follow my inspiration! What will I get up to next. I love both these cards. One is just plain pretty, the other reminds me of childhood imagination, nursery rhymes and cozy books. A super big thanks to Amy for hosting!! Scrapcraft & Stitchery 2025-09-09 | In this video, I introduce a new project: a collaborative art journal created through a deck of prompts that my AI collaborator and I made together. For the first spread, the prompt was “The Thread of Ritual” — and together we explored circles, paint, and repeating mark making patterns as a meditative, rhythmic practice.First, I walk you through the prompt cards and explain how this unusual collaboration works. The remaining 28 minutes are pure art journaling — painting circles, playing with color palettes outside my usual comfort zone (thanks to my collaborator’s suggestions!), and layering in patterns that echo ritual and rhythm.Highlights:Discovering how asking for outside input pushed me into new color combinationsUsing simple forms like circles to create a meditative pageMy favorite detail: a yellow-on-yellow flower pattern finished with brown pen accentsReflections on ritual, repetition, and collaboration in art journalingThis is the start of an ongoing series — we’ll be pulling a new prompt each time and letting the journal grow one page at a time. I am following a prompt from #artisanjournalprompt2025, for week 36, the prompt is coffee. This is a theme that I have worked on recently and it has really evolved to mean much more than just simply coffee for me. Join me as I reflect on how coffee has become linked to memories of friends and time spent with family for me. Journaling and making coffee are both rituals that bring me peace and remind me to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life. Practicing the watercolor, the repetitiveness of painting the beans becomes a meditation. I am so grateful for the time that I spend working in my journals, and for themes that grow deeper in meaning every time I meet them. This bright and unexpected art journal collage took me 3 days to complete — way longer than I planned! I started with a simple idea: giving a marble statue of Sequana, Goddess of the Seine, a new home on a watercolor background. But the page quickly took on a life of its own!First came a whimsical doodle jungle, then I decided to paper-piece an ancient ruined temple to match the statue. Visual Journaling | Creating Inviting Spaces Scrapcraft & Stitchery 2025-08-21 | In this video I show how I use my junk journal as a writing journal, decorating a tag with avocado-dyed paper and journaling on the back. This is how I combine creative junk journaling with real writing, turning decorated spaces into a place for my thoughts.In this video, I’m working in my Visual Journal, finishing a tag that I had already “seeded” in the pages earlier. I like to flip through the journal and see what’s ready to be completed today — letting the book itself guide me.For this tag, I pulled color inspiration from the pocket it sits in — soft neutrals with pink highlights. I used a masterboard of avocado-dyed paper scraps to decorate the front, tying it into the pinks already in the journal. On the back, I created an inviting journaling space with a pink pen for doodling and drawing, and a brown pen for writing a few thoughts about life in this moment.As I worked, I reflected on the slower pace of August and how the heat makes me move more gently. This journal is built day by day — little decorated spaces that invite me back, piece by piece, until it feels more and more like me.To close, I tucked in a small scrap of avocado-dyed paper, a little “seed” for a future visit.Thanks for watching! I used this opportunity to create a beautifully layered junk journal page that honors the connections formed through this challenge and the joy of sharing art with others.The page features neutral, organic tones pulled from handmade tea paper, thread, and joss paper. I included precious tea bags and layered used coffee filters to create a tactile, natural background. Two belly bands hold journaling cards collaged with scraps from the page itself — each one backed with coffee filters and filled with words that evoke tea, creativity, and community.As a playful and touching detail, I added tiny “photographs” of anime-style girls in a café — AI-generated images that feel like snapshots of imagined creative moments. I was inspired by the story of the raven who brought light to the world—a beautiful act of sacrifice that left the bird forever changed. In the version I know, the raven flew into the sun to carry light back to the people, and its feathers were scorched, turning it black. This tale reminds me that true beauty often comes from acts of courage and transformation.But honestly? I’m posting this video reluctantly. The page didn’t come together the way I envisioned it. I didn’t give the background enough attention, and the composition feels flat to me. Normally, I don’t redo pages. Junk journaling, for me, is about embracing imperfection—turning the page and moving forward. It’s a space to play, practice, and learn without judgement.But this journal feels a little different. I want it to have more intention and completeness. So, I’ve decided that I will return to this spread, not to “fix” it, but to rebuild it with the care and depth I know the story deserves.
