Epic 12 second paramotor flight then crash landing after engine fails! #shorts bobflyman 2023-04-08 | #shorts Engine fail 12 seconds after take off on my 1st power flight this year. I know people will say why did I turn downwind, you should have done this, or that. Who knows. Split second decision. If people saw the site they'd have a better idea. The slope is much steeper than it looks in the video and I didn't want to glide right down to the bottom of the valley as landing options not so good there. Buildings, hedges , power lines. Field to the left is flat and best, that is usual take off, but it's cropped so that was a no go. Best flat landing option in that field is to the right of where I took off but the downwind leg speed caught me out, though I just had time to turn crosswind and flare as I piled in. I lost the brake while ditching the throttle to take a wrap for a big flare.in 7 months. Not my best ever landing, but no damage to me or motor and didn't crash into a cow. Sounded like something in the prop, but it wasn't, I think it was carburettor tuning. I know people will say why did I turn downwind, you should have done this, or that. Who knows. DIY hot wire cutter + foam from a skip (dumpster) = RC Plane. But did it fly? bobflyman 2023-02-17 | One of my last years Covid lockdown projects was to make a cheap hot wire foam cutter. It worked (video is linked below) and I cut a few wing profiles (check out the video) I turned my favourite cut into what I thought was like a Mini FT Versa. It turned out FlightTest had already done similar with the FT Arrow. Anyhow I finally got around to a maiden flight. The foam was cheap. A scrap of insulation foam I found in a skip! Quite firm and high density, but very light. Still haven't built a unicycle and learned how to ride it. Frog Fest Frenzy - Valentines Day Pond Party. - Mad as a Bucket of Frogs? bobflyman 2023-02-15 | Something I've never witnessed before, a frog party/frog orgy in my pond yesterday. The date was 14th February, ie Valentine's Day. Coincidence? Word obviously got around that it was party at my place. Are frogs using social media nowadays? Seriously though, I wonder what the signal is? I had some frog spawn as early as 4th Feb this year, but I suspect I'm going to get more.Frogs aren't exactly romantic, no foreplay, and you wouldn't call them handsome, though I suppose lady frogs find them attractive. They put it about a bit too. A male may mate with several females in a night.

An easy modification to a Lipo charger so it will charge mini-batteries used in micro planes bobflyman 2023-01-26 | My latest Mini Lidl RC conversion uses 200mA 2s batteries with a JST PH2 connector, this type of connector was new to me, but these 3 pin sockets are increasingly used on small 2S LiPo batteries for dual use as power and balance connector. My lipo charger wasn't able to charge this type of battery so I came up with a simple modification and now it can! Here's how I did it. All you need is 3 small pins, wire, 5 minute epoxy and soldering iron.PS Suitable chargers and adapter leads of various kinds are available of course.

I took my 1978 Honda CX500 for the third time to this event. The MegaRide™ starts from Lee Mill Industrial Estate, the bikers start arriving from around 9am. They leave at 11.30 and head along the A38 towards Marley Head where the bikers will cross the flyover and back down the A 38 towards Plymouth, following a route through the Plymouth City Centre with the ride ending on Plymouth Hoe. I'd forgotten a few little things, but it's been a couple of years since she's been out. Great fun. This was built by the original owner, who was a chippie in 1972/3 hence it is it's 50th birthday as far as I'm concerned! Oh and the reason I was using a rock to scrape and try and de-rust the wheel axle was because I was away from home, didn't have a tools or a file and wanted to get my boat on the water. I re-greased both axles , put it back together and SAILED! SJCam SJ9 Strike was produced briefly by SJ Cam , totally waterproof camera. Great 4K video with EIS, but awful audio I think that's why they ceased it.

Paragliding at a quite dodgy site, AND the wind is a bit flukey? Quit while youre ahead! bobflyman 2022-04-23 | Very weird day at a local flying site, (with not great bottom landing.) One minute plenty of wind, next minute no wind. One guy flying said it was the weirdest day he'd known there in 20 years flying it. One pilot bombed his tandem in at the bottom of the hill and later another landed on a beach. I scraped back almost to take off height after just 5 minutes. (I've been down on one of those small rocky beaches before, didn't fancy it, and this site has seen a few accidents.) Better quit early while you can. There's always another day! Re the microphone test: it was great but too close to my mouth and got a lot of heavy breathing noise!
