3 bug fixes in Premiere Pro David Lindgren 2025-07-23 | Sometimes, Premiere Pro can act a bit strange, so here are 3 common bugs I’ve experienced when editing and how to fix them.The first one happens inside the “Lumetri color” panel when you try to move a point in a curve and nothing happens. The solution here is to scroll inside that window until the whole graph is visible. Now, the mouse cursor icon will change when you hover over the point, indicating that you can adjust the point.The second bug is when you are inside the “Timeline” window and you’re trying to increase the size of the “Subtitle” track at the top. You would think that you can just click and drag the edge of the track, like you do with any other track, but that won’t work.The solution here is to place the mouse cursor inside the track vertically and just to the left of the timeline, outside the actual track and then scroll up while holding down the “Shift” key.Now, the track size will increase and to snap the track to the top of the "Timeline" panel, just resize that panel and then the position of that track will update, based on the new size.The third bug is inside the “Effect Controls” window, when you have added the effect “Warp Stabilizer”. Brevidy Media Browser - The ultimate tool for Premiere Pro David Lindgren 2025-07-20 | Imagine a plugin that could cut out the silent parts, create captions, add sounds effects and stock media and also animate that media without even leaving the software. This is now possible and I will show you how.First, you download the tool Brevidy from Brevidy.pro (and you can follow the full installation process in my previous tutorial).Then, once installed, you open Premiere Pro, go up to the menu, click Window, Extensions, and select “Brevidy” and “Brevidy Media Browser”.Now you log in, in both panels, and you start with the “Brevidy” panel and the “AutoCut” tool.Adjust the settings and click “Create” at the bottom to automatically do a rough cut, remove silences, and add emojis or clips if you like.After a while, you have an edit that is already good to go for social media, but we are going to customize it even more.If you, for example, select one of the emojis that Brevidy has generated, it will show up in the “Brevidy Media Browser” window (not to be confused with “Media Browser”).Here, if you select “Grid view” and “Play all previews” at the bottom, you can visually see a bunch of animations that you can add to your media clip.Now, you can add an animation to the start, a constant animation, and an animation to the end and then simply click “Update” at the bottom to add it to your selected clip or gif.After you’ve done that, you can add more media to the timeline by deselecting everything in the timeline, and then go back to the “Brevidy Media Browser” window and search for a word.When you’ve found a clip that you want to add, select it, click “Continue” and add animations to the media, the same way as before, and then click “Insert”.You can also add sound effects the same way.Search for a word, click “Audio”, select a sound effect, click “Continue”, and because it is audio, you can’t animate it, so just click “Insert”.And if you want to try out Brevidy for free, you can get a 7 day free trial by using my link in the pinned comment below this video. Export faster in After Effects David Lindgren 2025-07-11 | If you want to export any After Effects project faster, here is a quick little tip you can apply in any project you work on.First look at the layers you are not using (usually the layers that are hidden, unless you’re using it as a mask) and click the little “Shy”-button next to these layers. How to make a carousel with images David Lindgren 2025-06-18 | If you want to go create a rotating gallery like this, in Adobe After Effects, this is how easy you can achieve that.First, create whatever shape you want, for example a rectangle with rounded corner and place that in the center of the composition window.(First center the anchor point in the shape:Mac: ”Fn + opt + cmd + left arrow”)Then center the shape in the composition with:Mac: ”Fn + cmd + left”or find these options in the top menu under “Layer", "Transform”)Once you are happy with the shape, we want to duplicate this layer by selecting it and clicking “cmd + D” (or “Ctrl + D” on PC) as many times as you like.Now, you want to “Pre-compose” these “Shape Layers” individually by right-clicking on them, one-by-one, and clicking “Pre-compose”.Now you can add an image in any of these layers by double-clicking on it to open it, dragging an image from the “Project” window into the “Timeline” window, clicking the keyboard shortcut “S” to adjust the scale of the image, and then click on the dropdown next to your image, under “Track Matte” and change to your “Shape Layer”.Now you can go back to your main composition, add the effect “CC Light Sweep” to the “Shape Layer”-composition you just edited to add a bit of a light effect to your shape.You can adjust “Width” and “Sweep Intensity” based on what you like.Go through the same process with the other two layers, then right-click in the “Timeline”-window, go to “New” and select “Null object”.This “Null object” is going to be used to rotate the images in the carousel. Masks for beginners in Adobe After Effects David Lindgren 2025-06-15 | Animating text in Adobe After Effects can be complicated, so here are three simple ways of revealing text that anyone can create, using a shape layer and a mask.Let’s start with the shape layer.First, make sure you have no layer selected in the timeline window, by clicking on any empty space in that window, then go up to the “Shape tool”, click and hold on the “Shape tool” to see the different shape options and then select rectangle.Now, draw a rectangle in the composition window, over the text, and end the rectangle just a tiny bit underneath the baseline of the text.Then move the playhead to the point where you want the text animation to stop (which is the current position) and then open the text layer, and go to “Transform” and click on the stopwatch next to position.Now, move the playhead to where you want the animation to start, go back to “Position” and drag the Y-value to the right until you can see the whole text. Now the text moves into the shape.The final step now is to go to the “Track Matte”-dropdown next to the “Text Layer” and change from “No Matte” to your “Shape Layer” and it vill now slide the text up and become visible when inside the area of the shape layer.To move the shape instead of the text, just do the same thing with the “Position”-value in the “Shape Layer”. Click the stopwatch where you want it to end, move the playhead to where you want it to start, and drag the Y-value to the right until the whole text is hidden.You can also achieve this revealing effect by only using one layer.You do this by selecting the text layer, creating a rectangle to cover the text (and because you selected the layer first it will now create a mask inside that layer),then you open the mask, click the stopwatch next to “Mask Path”, move the playhead back, go back to the composition window, change to the select tool by clicking V on your keyboard, and then drag any of the corners down while holding the “Shift”-key,and now you have created the same effect using a mask instead of a “Shape layer”. How to make rotating text in After Effects David Lindgren 2025-06-09 | How do you rotate a text around a circle or an object in Adobe After Effects? 4 ways to add effects in Adobe Premiere Pro David Lindgren 2025-06-03 | Did you know that there are 4 different ways to add effects to your clip in Adobe Premiere Pro (and if you stick to the end I will give you a time-saving tip about the last one that you probably didn’t know about).Let’s dive in and start with the most obvious one:Open the “Effects” window, click and drag the effect you want to the timeline and drop it onto the clip.The second way is to select the clip in the timeline and then drag the effect into the “Effect Controls” window.The third way is to select the clip again, and then simply double-click on the effect you want to add.The fourth way is to use something called an “adjustment layer”, and this is where I will show you a little bonus tip.First, you go to the “Project” window and click “New item” at the bottom and select “Adjustment layer”.Now, if you would add the “Adjustment layer” to the timeline and apply the effect there, it will affect all the clips underneath that layer but…it will only add the effect to THAT “Adjustment layer” in the timeline and not the one in the “Project” window, so instead,drag the effect onto the layer in the “Project” window and then maybe rename it so you know what effect you added. Easiest way to start a project in Adobe Premiere Pro David Lindgren 2025-05-19 | Creating a new project in Adobe Premiere Pro can be a long and time-consuming step with a lot of decisions having to be made.But with the new “new project” window, it is easier than ever.This is how you do it:Open up Premiere Pro. Click “New project” to the left and see this new much simpler window pop up.Name the project, select location, set template to “None” and select the “Skip import mode” and then click “OK”.Now, you get straight to the “Edit” layout in Premiere Pro and can start editing. Here you can either click the new “Import media”-button that is visible in the “Project” window IF you don’t have any files there, or you can simply drag a file from outside Premiere Pro and drop it into the “Project” window.(The “import media”-button will disappear after importing any footage, but you can still open the import window by clicking ”Cmd + I” on Mac or "Ctrl + I" on PC. 9 easy animations in Adobe After Effects David Lindgren 2025-04-06 | If you want to learn how you can animate words like this, this is how you can do it.So, first of all, these are just 9 random examples but you can do this with any word and the easiest way to come up with animation ideas it to simply use verbs and then let the word itself be the idea for what animation to do and the other thing is to use capital letters so that all characters are the same height.Now, for the word “Hide”, I created a mask around the word, selected “Add” in the dropdown, added a “Position”-property to the text, then made the “Y-value” change over time using keyframes.(I added a Position-property above text because so it is applies before the mask. If I use the Position property inside “Transform” it will apply the movement on both the text and the mask.)For the word “Show”, I’ve done the exact same thing except that the starting position is outside of the mask and the word moves up and into the mask.For the word “Join”, I created three shapes that I placed on top of the word, in the same color as the word, and then added a mask to each shape and animated the mask path to reveal the shapes from left to right.For the word “Grow”, I moved the “Anchor Point” to the bottom left corner of the word and changed the “Scale” property, with keyframes, so it grows up and to the right.For the word “Wait”, I wanted to make it look like it’s blinking by showing one character at a time, kinda like it’s loading, so I did this by creating the mask over the word and then changing the mask path, with keyframes, with the same time gap between each keyframe and then to stop it from animating, I selected all the keyframes, right-clicked (on one them), and selected “Toggle Hold Keyframe”.For the word “Zoom”, I moved the “Anchor Point” to the middle of the word, and animated the size of the word using two keyframes in the “Scale” property.For the word “Slide”, I simply changed the X-value in the “Position” property. Simple as that.For the word “Share”, I created a mask over the top half of the word and selected “Add” in the dropdown next to it. Then I copied that layer, including the mask, changed to “Subtract” next to Mask in that second layer, then went back to the first layer and animated that using the “Position” property under “Transform” to affect both the Mask and the text.And finally for the word “Turn”, I clicked the little box under “3D Layer” to activate even more properties (for example three ways of rotating the layer, instead of just one) and then I changed the “Y Rotation” from 0 to 180 to so it turns half way around.(To change it in the other direction, change the second value from “180” to “-180”.)Comment if you want more videos like this and tell me if you want anything explained in more detail. How to move the stroke to the inside or outside in After Effects David Lindgren 2025-03-19 | If you have a stroke around your shape in Adobe After Effects that you want to have on the inside or outside of your shape instead of having it centered on the border, here are two ways of doing that.The first method is to open your shape layer in the timeline, then open “Contents” and “Rectangle” (or whatever shape you have created). Then select “Rectangle”, click “Add” next to “Contents” and select “Offset Paths”. This will add the effect to this specific shape instead of the whole layer.Now, under “Rectangle”, open “Stroke” and check the number next to “Stroke width”. Then open “Offset Paths” and type in that number next to “Amount” AND add “slash two” at the end and then hit enter.This will automatically calculate the stroke width divided in two and then offset the stroke with that amount, making it appear to be on the outside of your shape.To place it on the inside, just simply add a minus sign infront of the number next to “Amount”, however, every time you change “Stroke width”, you need to change the “Amount” again manually, but this leads me to method 2.The second method is to drag the “pick whip” icon next to “Amount”, down to “Stroke width” so that the number turns red (indicating that the amount changes based on another value, in this case “Stroke Width”).Now open “Amount” and do the same thing as in method 1, add “slash 2” at the end of the textbox (or “expression box”) to place it on the outside and click outside that textbox to save it and now the “Amount”-value is automatically changing based on the “Stroke Width”.And to place the stroke on the inside of the shape, type in “slash minus 2” instead.Subscribe if this was helpful and check out my other shape tutorials that I will link here at the end. How to make big captions word by word David Lindgren 2025-02-23 | Instead of basic boring captions, you can make your text grab more attention by making them appear word by word. This is how you can do it inside Adobe Premiere Pro.First, you create separate layers for each word or each row with text.Then, have them appear one by one but end at the same time.Just use your creativity when designing these blocks of text, but some tips could be to use bold text, capital letters, decrease the tracking, and to use contrasting fonts and sizes.You can also overlap your words or place them close to each other, but in order to do that, make sure to add a stroke or a shadow (or both) so that the text is still readable. How to add animated emojis inside Adobe Premiere Pro David Lindgren 2025-02-09 | If you want to add captions and emojis automatically inside Adobe Premiere Pro, there is a great tool for that which I will show you in this short tutorial.You start by downloading a plugin called “Brevidy” from “Brevidy.pro” and install that. Then, inside Premiere Pro, you go up to the menu, click Windows, Extensions, and Brevidy.Here you want to select the tool Captions and the first thing you do, after selecting what part of your video you want to transcribe, is to simply click “Create”.Brevidy will transcribe your selected area and from here you can customize it just the way you want and this is the part I really like with Brevidy.First, you can change the style of the text by clicking “Style” at the top left of the “Brevidy” window, and here you can adjust the position, padding, scale, background, font, highlighted text and much more.But then, if you go to the “Paragraph” tool you can also adjust the amount of lines and characters per line and it will automatically update in the program window. This is, in my opinion, way more user friendly and time-saving than the built in transcription tool inside Premiere.Another user friendly detail is that if you go back to the “Style” window inside Brevidy and select “Highlight Text”, you can now simply click on any words that you want to highlight or click “suggest highlights” under the “Highlight” tool to do that automatically.And if you want to add emojis (or clips), just go to the “Media” tool, click “Suggest Clips” or “Suggest emojis”, adjust the length of the emojis by dragging the edge of the underline and then click “Import Pending” to add them all to your video.A final thing is that you can add stock media manually to a certain section by just clicking and dragging over a block of text. The best file structure for video editing David Lindgren 2025-02-02 | What is the best file structure (or project folder setup) for video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro (or any other software)? I have a setup that I’ve followed for many years and it all comes down to 4 simple folders.The inspiration came from a combination of resources, but particularly the “PARA-method” by Tiago Forte and the book “Getting Things Done” by David Allen.The “PARA-method” stands for “Projects”, “Areas”, “Resources”, “Archive” and that is the top folder structure for my external harddrive, but my “video project folder” is slightly different.It also consists of four folders but the folder names are “Footage”, “Projects”, “Assets”, and “Export”. How to create social media clips automatically (Captions + Emojis + B-roll) David Lindgren 2025-01-17 | Did you know that you can find highlights from your recording while also adding captions, emojis AND B-roll to those highlights automatically inside Adobe Premiere Pro (and also adjust it afterwards)?In this tutorial, I will show you exactly how easy you can do that.First, you need to download a plugin called “Brevidy” from Brevidy.pro.Once you’ve done that and installed the plugin, open up Premiere Pro,go to Window, Extensions, and click Brevidy.Here you get 2 options, “AutoCut” and “Captions” and we are going to click “AutoCut”.Inside “AutoCut”, you get full control over how you want your new video or videos to look like depending on your preferences. You can select what “aspect ratio” you want, the layout of the clips in your new video, you can select a caption style next to “Caption preset”, and next to “Transcription”, you can decide between speed or accuracy, and if you want to manually select the language or let Brevidy auto detect the language.Finally, next to “Actions”, you can select exactly what edits you want to do to your new video. How to fix no sound playing in Premiere Pro David Lindgren 2024-12-08 | If you can’t hear the sound playing from Premiere Pro in one or two of your speakers, here are some solutions that you can try.In this example, we have two different audio files, one with “Stereo” sound, so two different audio tracks, and one with “Mono” sound where you only have one audio track.In both cases, you should see two meters moving in the Audio meters window and if you don’t, make sure that both channels have the “Solo”-option unselected at the bottom.Next, go up to menu, click Premiere Pro, Settings, and “Audio Hardware”.Check what it says next to “Default Output” and make sure this audio output is turned out.Now go to the timeline window and make sure that no audio channel is muted by unselecting “M” and “S” on all the audio tracks.Finally, if you have tried all of these things, go up to the menu again, click “Window” and “Audio Track Mixer” and select your specific sequence.Make sure that all channels are playing your audio in both speakers by changing the values at the top to 0 on all channels.And finally, if you have a “multi channel sequence” like this, set the “Track output” to 1-2 on all your audio tracks and now it should work.Here’s a full playlist with audio tutorials in Premiere Pro together with a bunch of helpful digital products that I will link in the comment section below. How to edit images in Adobe Premiere using Photoshop David Lindgren 2024-11-24 | If you have an image or illustration in Adobe Premiere Pro that you want to edit inside the program, you can do this without having to export it and import it again and this is how you do it.In this example we have 2 photos of me, one is a Photoshop-file and one is a Jpg. If we right-click on the Jpg-file and click “Edit Original”, it will open it in the program “Preview” on Mac (and something similar on PC).However, if you instead click “Edit in Adobe Photoshop”, it will open the jpg inside Photoshop and this is where it gets interesting.As you can see, this is just a flat file with one layer, because it is a jpg. How to make a circle out of circles in After Effects David Lindgren 2024-10-27 | If you want to create a circle out of circles in Adobe After Effects, you can do that pretty easily with an effect called “Repeater”.The first thing you do is to create a “Shape Layer” in your composition, then open that up and click “Add” and “Ellipse”.I’m going to add a “Fill” as well so that I can change the color easily.Now, select “Contents”, click “Add” and “Repeater”.Then, under ”Repeater”, change “Copies” to the amount of circles that you want, and then under “Transform”, change Position to 0 and 0.Now you want to hold down the “option”-key (or “alt” on PC) while clicking on the stopwatch icon next to “Rotation”.Type in 360, slash, and then instead of typing in the amount of copies, click and drag the “pick whip”-icon next to “Rotation” up to the text “Copies”.This gives you the option to change the number of copies later and have the expression updating the distribution of the circles automatically.Now go up to “Ellipse Path” and next to “Position”, change the Y-value (which is the second value) and your circle with circles is ready and you can change the number of copies as you like.For more quick After Effects tutorials like this, I will link a playlist at the end of this video and in the comment section below, you can also download my 12 free motion graphic templates. How to cut out shape in Adobe After Effects David Lindgren 2024-10-13 | If you want to cut out something from a shape inside Adobe After Effects, using another shape, there is a quick and easy way to do that, which I will show you in this tutorial.First, you want to create 2 shapes inside the same “Shape Layer”.You do that by selecting the first shape (or the layer with the shape inside) and then creating a new shape with the shape tool. This will automatically place your new shape inside the same “Shape Layer”.(If you want to create a NEW shape layer, you need to unselect every layer first)Now, click “Contents” inside your “Shape Layer” and then click “Add” right next to it.
