LUCKYME®
Cyst - Knackered (Official Music Video)
updated
LuckyMe Advent returns for 2022 with new music from the whole family.
For the art this year we asked the incredible Paul Peng to create a large illustration that summed up the mood of things opening up post-pandemic: this nervous, frenetic energy on the streets with people ultimately forced to move around structures that always existed. Where LUCKYME® exists in all this is, I think, a place where things needn’t be so stressful. This thing that maintains us making work with friends and artists we love in a way that is self perpetuating. And the more secure we feel, the more we want to create bigger and weirder records and artwork that stretch out into the world. And we have a lot of that ready to run in 2023. Hope you enjoy the comp. If you like it, tell people about it. Love from LUCKYME®

Earlier this year Cameron Morse released his debut EP The Truth Is…
Now as a supplemental release he has joined forces with Beijing based rapper/vocalist and Drain Gang affiliate Bloodz Boi to reimagine key EP track Richest Men. After his stellar turn on the recent Claire Rousay release calling it a remix perhaps doesn't do it justice as he completely transforms the track into something new. The first piece in a collaborative puzzle between the two. Stay tuned for more from this combo.

(LM085S1XD) Cameron Morse - Richest Men (Bloodz Boi Remix) - Nov 03 2022
Celebrating a year since the release of 'Icons'. duendita aka Candace Camacho is an artist hailing from Queens, New York. They imbue their music with a reverence for ancestry and faith, carried by the airy nostalgia of their vocals. With their achy, bass-coated tones and mix of jazz, piano, soul, and R&B, duendita’s music is evocative of the complexities and sentimentality of the human experience. A frequent collaborator with Onyx Collective - her last single was included in Pitchforks tracks of 2021. In good company, Eli Keszler’s Icons was also awarded amongst Pitchfork’s Jazz and Experimental records of the year.

He Who Runs featured in new Apple iPhone 14 Keynote Launch
Taken from his 5 track EP, Songs For Vienna: the answer to his acclaimed album of 2021. Where Songs Of Vienna was the product of his city; Songs For Vienna was written in his new East London studio, shared with fellow pop disruptor Sega Bodega. A lament to his city, the songs all have a sense of movement: running with the flock, 4AM walks, riding the underground. Music for the liminal spaces that naturally draw out our thoughts. As Carl Jung once wrote: “who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes”.

Cameron Morse is a Montreal based musician and visual artist whose experimental production and art direction first created waves as half of Littlebabyangel with their cult 2015 release Gada - a mixtape circulated via email chain letter, laterally reviewed by Pitchfork who said it “...feels like entering the eye of a hurricane”.
“Alienation from both the mainstream and the underground serves as impetus for The Truth Is. Where experimental and ambient music tends to revel in doom, and pop serves to project and maintain a manufactured positive reality: the production here aims to be an authentic representation of "now" closer to my actual experience with reality, love and loss.” - Cameron Morse

Cameron Morse is a Montreal-based musician whose experiments first created waves as half of Littlebabyangel’s 2015 album Gada - released as a mixtape within an email chain letter. Following a standout remix on Jacques Greene’s Dawn Chorus, his debut ep expresses a political motive behind Cameron's practice: his music, fashion design, writing and digital painting.
Morse considers The Truth Is part of a years-long project named Anthropocene: a blog and upcycled clothing experiment to challenge fast fashion. Through single editions of garments carrying blunt, factual typographic prints he badges a tiny community of fashion consumers aware of their role in consumption and desire. The work is aggressively direct and aims to create a waypoint for people feeling unable to contribute to the body politic.
The Truth Is employs the stems of todays DIY bedroom producer to express our milieu: catharsis thru hacked poly synth, drum machine, electric guitar and voice. Where ambient music has become synonymous with commerce and productivity, Cameron’s textures *tune-out and drop-in* suspending themselves in air. Doomer vacuity beyond the body: this stunning record expresses the loss of meaning in the modern world and begs we move together towards our potential future.

LYRICS:
Choppas on deck my neck look glitter
make that wish ya boys look bitter
고추잡채 I eat for dinner
I say you want all that Thriller
Choppas on deck my neck look glitter
make that wish ya boys look bitter
고추잡채 I eat for dinner
I say you want all that Thriller
I’m scared of nothing but the police
I want that moshpit so they searching for me
I feel it coming pressure’s on me
Open that moshpit you can do that for free
위용위용 get the police on jumper
위용위용 got that busted out bumper
삐용삐용 red and blue to the dumpster
Pardon me, my check long like cucumber
Presidential campaign for my country
Presidential bling bling yea thats on me
Vote for me cuz I’m the one and only
Kpop prince gotta link w the Brodie
Oh god wow she wanna rock it now
Oh god now she wanna stop it now
Spitting facts at the booth 너는 잠이 와?
go Pow pow bang 너무나 잔인한
Wreck this city goes round and round
Pack this heat baby check this sound
200k I just got that down
Uh pound for pound feel like 신 right now
Choppas on deck my neck look glitter
make that wish ya boys look bitter
고추잡채 I eat for dinner
I say you want all that Thriller
Choppas on deck my neck look glitter
make that wish ya boys look bitter
고추잡채 I eat for dinner
I say you want all that Thriller
I’m scared of nothing but the police
I want that moshpit so they searching for me
I feel it coming pressure’s on me
Open that moshpit you can do that for free
[Vernon]
The industry cut-throat
The gap that’s in the streets of Seoul
The emptiness equals my soul
Don’t even know what I want anymore
But we still ride this shit, encore
Material things, make room for more
20k, just dropped on clothes
There’s no stopping this anymore
Top off, I’ma drop it
Hot head in the cockpit
Pull up for the profit
Coming for your safety deposit
Got the key to unlock it
So sweet like chocolate
Champagne, I’ma pop it
Call me Kpoppapi
Choppas on deck my neck look glitter
make that wish ya boys look bitter
고추잡채 I eat for dinner
I say you want all that Thriller
Choppas on deck my neck look glitter
make that wish ya boys look bitter
고추잡채 I eat for dinner
I say you want all that Thriller
I’m scared of nothing but the police

First new song from S-Type since 2020’s S-Type Beat EP. DJ Mag said: “Unexpectedly grandiose… their consistency and rhythmic drive is fucking inspiring… S-Type’s scope has levelled waaay up”. In the years since he's written movie soundtracks for Ruth Paxton’s award winning debut body-horror feature ‘A Banquet’ and Ninian Doffs feature ‘Get Duked’. 'Be Where You Are' is a triumphant return for Bobby Perman, one of the LUCKYME® starting five.

Bleep's 'Album Of The Year'. New York based percussionist and composer Eli Keszler announces Icons+ a deluxe edition of Icons with two additional songs. At a time where albums are often reduced to a single compressed digital product, distributed ad infinitum, Icons+ is a statement on form. The album - featuring immersive recordings gathered in Croatia and New York pre and during the pandemic - has been committed to a number of original formats by LUCKYME® Records. This line includes a cassette edition (x100, in mono), a vinyl repress (x500, in stereo), the intended Mach1 Spatial (in 3D) audio mix as well as a digital conform from Mach1 Spatial to Dolby Atmos (in 7.1.2 surround) for mainstream DSPs. Beyond the mere auditory experience, Keszler has partnered with Brooklyn candlemaker Joya Studio to create a companion candle (x150) created to evoke Chinatown and the Odyssey Cave. All physical objects come with a digital download of the deluxe album in your preferred format. Music by Eli Keszler. Art by Leia Jospe & LuckyMe.

New York based percussionist and composer Eli Keszler released his new album Icons on June 25 via LUCKYME®. From mid June throughout July he took up residency at Lower East Side’s stalwart Mast Books, with an exhibition of his drawings alongside photography from collaborator Leia Jospé. The show opened with packed, live instore performance now archived in full for YouTube and Bandcamp. Launched alongside the film is a repress of vinyl and associated merch available at http://elikeszler.com
Icons is an immersive work in perpetual motion, evoking a glorious and dystopian western world. Known as a frequent collaborator to Oneohtrix Point Never, Laurel Halo, Kevin Beasley, and Rashad Becker, Keszler’s latest solo venture offers up a latticework of melodic percussion, drum set, and electro-acoustic instrumentation, built upon fragments of American abstraction, ancient scales, industrial percussion, and jazz-age film noir to achieve its feeling of imperial decay. Keszler’s instrumental performances are framed by panoramic recordings of New York City and the Odyssey Cave, along with other on-location audio from his global travels, defining an expansive music that takes on hyperreal forms difficult to describe outside of the loss and wonderment that defines our age.
“Icons is the music I made during a time where travel and trade were effectively suspended,” states Keszler. “I spent nights wandering around Manhattan collecting recordings of the empty and silent city where a car alarm was audible from blocks away, where the hum of the electrical grid and the clash of bicycle gears suddenly occupied a massive amount of space. I spent the entirety of that year in Manhattan, probably the longest I’ve stayed in one place in over a decade. The island was essentially shut down and running at an erratic pace. The speed of the city seemed to oscillate from intense speed - ambulances, protests, helicopters — to near stasis — a sort of beautiful, strange, serene stillness. I saw something strange and beautiful happening: power cracking and people changing. With Icons, I was working with these mythological tropes that are deteriorating and decaying before our eyes to create a music that finds beauty in our fragile and unstable reality.
Keszler has released music on Shelter Press, Empty Editions, ESP Disk and PAN. His 2018 album Stadium was awarded Boomkat’s Album Of The Year. Most recently, Keszler wrote the original score to Dasha Nekrasova’s feature The Scary of Sixty First (which made its recent premiere at Berlin Film Festival) and contributed to Daniel Lopatin's original score for Josh and Benny Safdie's Uncut Gems. Keszler’s music, installation, and visual work have appeared at the Whitney Museum, Lincoln Center, MIT List Center, Victoria & Albert Museum, Sculpture Center, The Kitchen, South London Gallery, Hessel Museum, Harvard's Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, Luma-Foundation, Barbican, Walker Art Center, and MoMA PS1.
