Finding Mike Aloe 2017-05-17 | For my final video I worked with Sadia Allalen. We wanted to make a parody of Finding Bigfoot and decided to base it on a certain member of the janitorial staff. The premise of the video is that a group of four adults are searching UAHS for Mike while their group falls apart. I had a lot of fun editing and writing Finding Mike, but the hardest part had to be working with my friends. Most of the time we had to show them their lines on the laptop and our schedules didn't work often. But I still had fun messing around with them before, after, and even during filming (i.e. bloopers). I didn't use different angles, even though sometimes there are different angles during the first trap and break-up scene. I did try to have a handheld camera look like the Bigfoot shows do when they're in the woods. Mostly I learned how to work with my friends, but I also learned how to use a tripod and add titles.
Frontier Psychiatrist Aloe 2017-05-02 | Music: Frontier Psychiatrist by The AvalanchesThere was no plot to this video as it was an abstract video, but I wanted a general theme of school. The video both started and ended with video, but everything was mostly stop motion. A theme from my previous video (Treat Video) was teleportation, but this time it wasn't that Maggie could teleport, but more like tiny scenes of her in class. While I did have fun making the video, the stop motion was killer. It took an entire week and definitely was the biggest challenge. I tried to differ my shots in this video since I didn't in the Treat Video. I added shots like the feet, or how the viewer watches Maggie move down the hall. But I did the opposite during the scenes in the classrooms by trying to use the same angle for continuity. I learned a lot during this project. I learned how to add filters (black and white) and layer videos (the VHS effect) as well as edit the general length of the clips and zoom in and zoom out of shots.
Cheerios Treat Video Aloe 2017-05-02 | Music: sombre, green by BirocraticThe general idea is that Maggie McKinney has the ability to teleport, but only uses her ability to get Cheerios when she's hungry. While the premise sounds kind of silly, I had a lot of fun creating it. We mostly filmed in Giant Eagle, which I regret. But I had to film Maggie disappearing I had to film her standing there and then not move the camera while she jumped out of the shot. Which was probably the biggest challenge. I tried to get some different angles, like the close-up of her face, but most of them are the same. And there's a shot where she stands in front of a bright window. Since this was my first project in Premier, I learned how to cut out unnecessary parts of the video and how to edit the volume of my clips and music.
