Adding a SMOKE UNIT & DCC to BACHMANN THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE

TheTrainModeller 2023-04-01 | This is probably my most requested video on this channel, and it is finally here! Please note this video depicts modelling techniques which can be dangerous for younger viewers.

I incorrectly mention that the chassis I'm using in the video isn't DCC ready. It is and would require a 'Next18' decoder. That said, most Bachmann Thomas models will likely not be DCC ready, and even if it is you can still hard wire if you choose to, like showcased in the video.

The decoder I use in my engines is that Hattons 4 function DCC decoder. hattons.co.uk/738292/hattons_originals_dcr_8pin_harness_neo_8_pin_4_function_1_1amp_harness_decoder_with_back_emf/stockdetail

You'll need to make sure that whatever DCC decoder you decide to use has functions that are able to power the smoke unit (10-16 volts).

The smoke unit I use is the Seuthe 22 unit.

If you have any further questions, please let me know in the comment section below.

Please note, this is just my personal guide on how I convert my locomotives to DCC and install a smoke unit.

I reached 100,000 subscribers this week, and I cannot express enough how grateful I am. The Sodor Celebration and Other Stories

Gordon Goes Native & Sodors 7 - TCC Bloopers and Deleted Scenes

TheTrainModeller 2020-02-23 | The climax scene for Gordon Goes Native was a lot of fun to make. I definitely took some inspiration from the Lion King for the rock that Gordon ends up on, though the events don't quite play out that same... Still really happy with how those visuals came out and here's some alternate takes! Sodor's 7 was also really fun too. It was nice to revisit the coal mine after Put Upon Percy, and a mine explosion is always fun ;)

Trainspotting at the Station

Some of these models hadn't been used in YEARS and I wanted to make sure they still work... they're doing great. Working on something extra special for later in the year, so I'll start fixing up these guys too... like the dodgy funnels, dust and scratches. This lighting set up is only temporary too, I've recently revamped where I film and it's all a little chaotic at the moment!
