The other game that was released was Magical Wiz Kid. These are both available for purchase to Opcode Club Members and each ROM was $20 or both for $35, which is a VERY reasonable price considering the quality of the games!
This video of Bull & Mighty's shows off the first level of the game which has sort of a "Keystone Kapers" meets "Drol" meets "The Heist" feel to it. You have to navigate several levels of this building collecting and planting bombs and then once the last bomb is planted you have a limited time to get out of the building. The game is quite fun and I would highly recommend it!
If you aren't a member of the Opcode Club you should contact then to become a club member, or at very least subscribe to their email list to get notifications of new releases:
For those of you who just wanted to see some Arkadion gameplay footage, here you go. You can decide for yourself if you think this ColecoVision homebrew is worth $59.
As I said in my full review, for $59, I think this game is flat out "bad," if it were a free ROM download, or a $10 download with a pack of three similar quality games, I think that would be fine. But there is simply NO WAY this game is worth $59 and it is damaging to the homebrew community as someone might buy this as their very first ColecoVision homebrew and think this is what the quality of other homebrews is like.
I mean, Inufuto just released 9 ColecoVision games for free... all of which IMO are better than Arkadion. So that should set some sort of benchmark.
This footage is straight out of my game capture, not edited in any way. I left the part at the end where the game glitched out on me so people can see it was something easy to reproduce. I've now had it happen 3 or 4 times by simply ending the game and restarting.
Yes, all those games are very "simple" but so is Arkadion. 8 Bit Milli should NOT be charging $59 for such a basic, buggy, and mediocre game.
Buy your games from CollectorVision, AtariAge, or Opcode Games instead.Smashing Open A Graded Atari 2600 Game! In emulation, it's easy to map the UP button on a control pad to a button so in Smurf Rescue, you can press a button to jump instead of having to press up!
I did notice that the way the game is coded, you do have to stop pressing left or right to jump (you can't hold down left or right and press jump at the same time) but I still think this is a bit easier than pressing UP as you can sometimes accidentally press left or right while trying to press UP. Anyone ever try this?Unboxing A Sealed Atari 2600 Game! Defender IIRetro Games Fan2021-10-17 | Opening a Sealed Atari 2600 game! I personally think quite a bit of work still needs to be done before this gets released.Crazy Climber Redux - ColecoVision HomebrewRetro Games Fan2021-09-16 | Here's a quick look at Crazy Climber Redux. There are two games I played in this video. The first game I was a little confused as to the two controller mode as I was trying it like how the arcade game controls.
Was a little bummed to see the two controller setup doesn't work like the arcade. You just have to press UP on both controllers to move up, or left & right on either controller to move side to side.
The next game is testing out the easy mode with the single controller option, which is just simply up/down/left/right.
There are certainly still some bugs in the game and William says he's working on those.
The look of the game is great!
Looking forward to seeing what it all looks like when the bugs get all ironed out!Bank Panic ColecoVisionRetro Games Fan2020-04-16 | Bank Panic is a ColecoVision homebrew game released by Team Pixelboy in 2011. While this is basically a port of the MSX version, it was actually released by Coleco themselves in 1984. What's interesting about this is had the video game crash not happened, perhaps we would have seen more MSX to ColecoVision ports! In a way, the homebrewers have just continued what Coleco may have done with their library anyway!
