Tesla Robotaxi Launch: My Predictions on Mario Nawfals X Space with Dr.Danish, David Pollack Charbax 2024-10-11 | I participated in Mario Nawfal X Space https://x.com/i/spaces/1PlJQbkYDrYxE that was listened to by 2.7 million people! This was live commentary/analysis before and after the launch of the Self-driving Tesla Cybercab, Robovan, Optimus, Robotaxi and Robots, here's an edit of my appearance on the show, which features some of my predictions before the event started, and some of which can turn out to be true:- A large share of the existing fleet of 5 Million Teslas will be added to the Robotaxi network instantly, Tesla owners I believe could get paid about $10K per year to contribute their car to the network, and at the same time everyone in the household can get unlimited free Robotaxi service. This may amount to Tesla repurchasing a part of the current Tesla fleet to instantly deploy massive Robotaxi coverage in 40 countries globally.- Robotaxi announced as costing half as much as public transport- Remote Human Override mode to resolve any issues with the Self-driving on the road when a Robotaxi might somehow get a bit stuck. Would be triggered automatically as well as by voice triggers or a Help button they might include on the dashboard of the Robotaxi.- You can sleep in Robotaxi and wake up at destination even 1000km/500miles away just let it drive you overnight! This is very disruptive against Short Haul Airlines businesses, the Robotaxi can get you comfortably far during one good night's sleep! And no more need to go through airports, check-in, security, queues, boarding, crowds, traffic, etc etc..I was wrong:- I was confident this could be Tesla's introduction of Battery Swap standards for the Robotaxis, to introduce 1min quick 1% to 100% full battery swapping stations, with possibility for different battery capacities for example swapping in a long range battery just before picking up a customer for a long overnight trip. But Elon Musk only announced inductive charging. Which may currently be limited to 100kw charging speed (as opposed to up to 350kw with a charging cable), this would take approximately 27 minutes to charge a 75 kWh EV battery from 20% to 80% at 100 kW. I speculate if future faster inductive charging may be implemented, or as I actually hope, perhaps they may still include Battery Swap together with Inductive charging, to have both methods available! If the Robotaxi asks you to switch cars twice or to spend over an hour charging inductively during an overnight sleeping trip, I think would slightly defeat that purpose.
