Sound Devices MixPre-3 Review & Initial Impressions vs Zoom H6 James Dixson Photography 2017-07-11 | My brother and I unbox the Sound Devices MixPre-3, drink some bourbon and offer our initial impressions vs Zoom H6. All the levels were eyeballed on either device and then put into the video unedited, unprocessed and unaltered other than making them stereo tracks instead of mono.We mostly relied on the RODE M5 microphones because they're a matched pair and the only mics we have duplicates of. Anyway, this is a fun sort of review with a little bourbon thrown in, we'll upload a real review after using it on some acutal shoots. Enjoy!

RX10 Mark III 960FPS Slow Motion Footage Bees James Dixson Photography 2017-06-21 | RX10's high frame rate feature, with the ability to shoot at 40x super slow motion. HFR mode includes 240p, 480p, and 960p at XAVC S 1080p. Shooting in HFR must be at a minimum of ISO 800. In HFR mode, the video recording is setup a bit differently than just simply pushing record. In HFR mode, you need to lock in your focus and exposure settings before recording a video. The HFR recording duration is only two seconds. I'll attemot to find some fast moving subjects with better light for a full RX10iii review.

So far I like it a lot but I'm unsure if it's worth the price of admission. I will work on compling a full review over the weekend. D500 vs A6500 for Sports and Action James Dixson Photography 2017-05-04 | Taylor and I head to the woods to pit the Sony A6500 against the Nikon D500 for sports and action photography. We traveled to Potosi Missouri to shoot the action at the Gateway BMW GS Challenge. Neither camera let us down but we kind of capitulated that the Nikon D500 was our favorite.The David Henry Spangler footage was shot on the A6500 with a 50mm 1.8 lens and a RODE VideoMic Pro. Enjoy!

Yoga Video Shoot Setup Timelapse James Dixson Photography 2017-03-27 | I always like to shoot a timelapse when I'm setting up a mobile studio. Here I'm shooting a yoga instruction video for a client. I've got an A7Sii as a wide A camera, an A6300 as a close up on the instructor an A6500 as a B camera and an A7Rii handheld as another B camera. I'm using Aputure LED Light Panels with the key shot direct and fill shot into a 7 foot Westcott Parabolic Umbrella.This video production had a one week turn around. It is easily recognized by the large, distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears, and across its round body. The name "giant panda" is sometimes used to distinguish it from the unrelated red panda. Though it belongs to the order Carnivora, the giant panda's diet is over 99% bamboo. Giant pandas in the wild will occasionally eat other grasses, wild tubers, or even meat in the form of birds, rodents or carrion.
