My solitude and the stillness silence of the night gave the haunting lyrics a deep inroad to my mind. For the first time I had a yearning to find a special someone. But my education came first. The siren call must wait.After college I went in 1969 to Bacolod City to try a partnership work. One morning I heard a radio contest about Jack Jones' songs. I was the lucky chosen caller, and the questions were of course easy for me to answer. My prize was a 45rpm single. One side was "The Impossible Dream", the flip side was "The Lorelei".The song just sunk deeper in me. So much so that when Jack Jones had a concert at Araneta Coliseum, I just had to return to my hometown and watch the concert. I don't recall the exact year, maybe 1970, but I remember well my disappointment when Jack Jone's sung "The Lorelei". He was reading the lyrics from a piece of paper. But I was still happy after the show.The first time I saw the girl in this video was in June 1972. I had to interview her for a job which she later got. I felt she is the special someone especially when the sight of her reminded me of this song. Her beauty exuded sweet innocence but also an alluring mystique that could ensnare any man's heart. However, I had a big plan to come here to America. So I tried to avoid her. But then the siren call was great. Three months later, in August 19, 1972 we we married.In 1974 we came and settled here. We were happy until a tragic accident on a Thanksgiving Day of November 26, 1986 ended her life. Since then, the siren call had been silent, until two weeks before this posting date. I saw a picture of a beautiful woman that reminded me of her and this song. I knew I have to make a tribute, this video.
