The reason I say this is because when Siad Barre was fleeing Xamar we tried to contact the leadership of USC. Myself and other intellectuals and politicians of the Marexaan clan attempted dialogue with the leadership of USC to discuss how Siad barre can be removed from power, unfortunately, this did not happen. One of the people we found was Ali Elmi Samater (Ali Bar), who was a judge and my friend, with him was a gentleman who was a pilot that was kidnapped a while back. I told them lets establish a dialogue with your leadership but this did not happen. Myself and Muhammed Ali who were officers of the ruling party, the night in which it was said that Muhamad Siad Barre wrote a letter to make Omar Carte Prime minister. A group from the Majerteen clan went to Siad barre and they said Darood does not have any influence on this new power structure, therefore reject this idea. Their argument was a President or a prime minister that does not include Darood is unacceptable. We said if this agenda of Majerteen is successful then we as Marexaan will take the most of the backlash. I will tell you why this idea is not in the interest of Marexaan, negative publicity and false narrative will haunt us through the actions of other Darood’s. The disaster we have right now in Somalia is because of Majerteen, through their actions of creating rebel groups, disorder and causing Somali disunity.The Ogaden rebel group in this area was created by them. If Majerteen are not stopped from pursuing this ideology it will be a significant blow to Marexaan. Hawiye and Isaaq are not our enemies and they did not cause us harm, therefore we should work with them. While USC is powerful in Xamar, we need to request support from other nations, while there is peace our agenda will not succeed. Abdirizak Haji Hussein and Muhamad Abshir are responsible for Bari (the eastern region of Somalia) and Ali Mahdi and Muhammad Qanyare are responsible for Xamar (Mogadishu) and Omar Macalin is responsible for koofur (southern region of Somalia). Imagine this letter is written by a Somali that has a hope in living in the country and is interested in a leadership role and the war he is inciting will it not kill him (he cursed him).What happened cannot be changed, the SNF group could not be organised due to Siad Barre influence within the clan. We again tried to organise a meeting with Siad in Buur Dhuub and left to Baidoa. These were joined in prayer by AMISOM Djiboutian troops working together with the Somali National Army to ensure peace and stability in the area.Belet weyne was liberated from the al Shabaab in 2011 and the security situation has since improved greatly. The fruits of peace were markedly evident today.The celebrations this year differed significantly from those held previously, especially with the huge numbers of people involved.The town that was previously deserted was today filled with multitudes and merry making along the streets.Residents say their family and community members that had fled Belet Weyne during the al Shabaab era have since returned, due to the peace that generally prevails in the area.“This Eid ul-Futr as Allah wishes, the town is very peaceful, there are no problems, people are very happy, the food and clothes are cheap and people have celebrated well,” said community elder Haji Ahmed Said.For some of the residents, being able to pray together in open space without fear of being attacked is another milestone to celebrate. During the al Shabaab era, the few town residents had to pray in their homes due to the fear and insecurity that prevailed.“This Eid differs very significantly from past Eids. It is different because we began the fasting at the same time together as a community and have observed Eid together on the same day. This is unlike previous years when we used to pray at home and different days during the al Shabaab reign. This unity was brought about by governance and rule of law and we thank AMISOM for that,” said Shamso Isse Adan.For Abdullahi Biin, the huge turn up witnessed today is indeed reason to celebrate.“Previous Eids especially during Al Shabaab era, the turnout was very low as many people had fled the town, but since the arrival of AMISOM, the population in Beledweyne has increased steadily as many people have since returned.
