P&G's ambition is to reach net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across our supply chain and operations by 2040. Our journey on climate began over a decade ago with goals beginning at our own manufacturing facilities. Since then, we have expanded and accelerated our efforts to address GHG emissions across the life cycle of our products and operations.
As we advance progress, our primary focus is on significantly reducing absolute GHG emissions upwards of 90% to reach our ambition of net zero GHG emissions across our operations and supply chain ― from raw material to retailer ― by 2040. We will balance any remaining emissions from our operations and supply chain by advancing natural or technical solutions that remove an equivalent amount of GHG emissions from the atmosphere. To help pace our progress toward 2040, we have established intermediate science-based targets for 2030.
Watch to learn more about P&G's efforts to reach Net Zero by 2040.
At P&G, the success of our business is intricately linked to the health and sustainability of the natural environment we all depend on. We believe it is important to protect and restore critical ecosystems that help sustain our operations, support the well-being of people, and protect the long-term health of our planet.

This video shows how circularity helps build value. P&G provides everyday products of superior quality and value to people around the world. Product packaging materials ― like plastic ― are useful in providing product protection and a lighter weight to lower greenhouse gas emissions during transportation.

In partnership with Bonneville Environmental Foundation, Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) and the Arizona Department of Water Resources, this project represents the largest collaborative funding effort of its kind and will help to directly bolster declining water levels in Lake Mead, a crucial water source for the American Southwest. This project will secure long-term water supply benefits for the region, ensuring the sustainability of this vital resource for years to come.
Additionally, this initiative will compensate the CRIT for the conservation of their Colorado River water rights, supporting their long-term endeavors to modernize irrigation systems and conserve additional water.

In partnership with Bonneville Environmental Foundation and the Arizona Department of Water Resources, we're supporting CRIT in their journey to modernize irrigation systems. This not only conserves critical water but also contributes to a more sustainable and efficient agricultural future.
As part of the largest collaborative funding effort of its kind, this project will not only secure the CRIT's Colorado River water rights but also pave the way for long-term water conservation. 🤝

Through efforts by our partners at leading environmental organizations like Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), we are already advancing long-term water restoration projects in critical areas of the U.S., including California, Arizona, Utah and Idaho.
We will continue to support a diverse portfolio of water projects in other water-stressed regions around the world, including China, India, Italy, Mexico, Spain and Turkey.

Anticipated outcomes include the recovery of vital habitat along Battle Creek, improved hydrologic conditions in the floodplain, wetlands, and riparian areas, and boosted instream flows for better water quality and habitat. 💧🌱

Over the past two centuries, 90% of native wetland habitat has been lost in California. Together with Bonneville Environmental Foundation and National Audubon Society, we are working to create seasonal wetlands in the Sacramento Valley, ensuring water is in the right place at the right time and at the right depth during shorebird migration.
By 2023, they aim to provide 3,500 acres of seasonal wetland habitat where land would otherwise have been dry, revitalizing essential habitats for hundreds of shorebirds, improving water quality and promoting groundwater recharge.

In collaboration with Bonneville Environmental Foundation and River Partners, we are supporting the Brayton Restoration Project by bringing back native plants, including 9,300 native trees, shrubs and other vegetation.
The area is expected to improve in three key areas:
💧 improved water quality
🦋 a new habitat for local wildlife
🌊 an overall reduction in the amount of water diverted from the Sacramento River - helping to restore its natural flow.

The East Sand Slough Side Channel used to run dry along part of the Sacramento River for much of the year. Efforts led by Chico State Enterprises are allowing water to flow along the Channel. Once complete, the slough will become a haven for baby fish and will protect salmon until they are mature enough to travel back to the main stem of the river and to the sea. It will also provide a recreational and visual amenity for the surrounding community. 🌅

We are supporting restoration projects in 18 water-stressed areas around the world, because we know it’s where we can make the biggest difference.
We are partnering with people on the ground who have a deep knowledge of local water challenges and solutions, supporting long-term projects that improve, manage or protect freshwater resources.

Through collaboration with on-the-ground partners like Bonneville Environmental Foundation, River Partners, National Audubon Society, Colorado River Indian Tribes and others who have a deep knowledge of local challenges, communities and landscapes in water-stressed areas, we're supporting solutions through local water restoration projects that improve, better manage or protect freshwater resources.
As part of our strategy to help build a water positive future, we’re working to restore more water than is consumed at P&G manufacturing sites located in 18 water-stressed areas and restore more water than is consumed when using P&G products in the highly water-stressed metropolitan areas of Los Angeles and Mexico City.

We’re collaborating with the Bear River Canal Company (BRCC) and the Bonneville Environmental Foundation on the Bear River Canal Company Measurement and Telemetry Project. The BRCC oversees 126 miles of canals that distribute irrigation water across over 65,500 acres of land. However, their current water level monitoring system needs improvement to solve for inefficiencies. To address this issue, our joint effort aims to install telemetry controls and automated headgates at 14 strategic locations. These advancements will provide real-time data, enabling BRCC to respond promptly to shifts in water demand. The result: reduced operational spills, which are one of the largest sources of water loss in the BRCC system.
By improving water efficiency of the system, this project will create new opportunities to provide more water to wildlife refuges and other natural habits. Anticipated benefits include improved water management, a 30% reduction in operational spills, and improve water deliveries to state and federal wildlife areas. 🌍💧
