Up front, Ford's cool front-engine Mustang GTP was a rocket featuring future IndyCar champion and Indy 500 winner Bobby Rahal, and in pursuit, Bayside Racing's Porsche 962 and the infamous Blue Thunder Racing's Randy Lanier and Bill Whittington were charging hard in their March-Chevy which made for an epic showdown in the final laps.Enjoy the old broadcast and the really interesting look the upscaling software has created--almost an animation style--with the imagery as it took the footage out to HD sizing.

Lola LMP1 Judd V10 In-Car ALMS Laguna Seca from 2009 Marshall Pruett 2022-11-12 | I found an old in-car session I did from the 2009 American Le Mans Series season finale at Laguna Seca with the Drayson Racing team and its Lola B09/60 coupe fitted with a glorious 5.5-liter Judd V10, and upscaled the footage to 1080P.It's a 15-minute long clip, and I considered cutting it down to something much shorter, but after watching it, I chose to leave it as-is because it shows a few things of interest. First, this is from late in in the opening practice session where driver Jonny Cocker is getting his first experience in the car at Laguna Seca. The British GT champion has plenty of skill, but he wasn't an expert at that point in big and brutally fast prototypes.So what we see as he pulls away is a driver trying to learn the car on a low-grip track with the sun starting to fade and a ton of aggressive GT cars that are up to speed on hot tires. All Cocker wants to do is get his tires up to temperature and explore the limits of the 2.2-mile, 11-turn road course, but his early laps are plagued with surprisingly fast ALMS GT2 cars and the spec Porsche GTC cars. Time after time, I kept wanting Jonny to chuck the Lola inside one of the GT cars and get down to business, but you can see he just doesn't have the confidence to place the million-dollar LMP1 machine at risk. One cool thing we see is a bit of an ALMS time capsule of sorts as Corvette Racing's first GT2 car, Risi Competizione's Ferrari F430GT, BMW Team RLL's BMW M3 GT2 and other popular ALMS cars of the day are passed.By the halfway point in the run, Cocker's cleared most of the traffic, and we also see some of the other LMP1 prototypes like Acura's big-tire ARX-02a and its ARX-01a LMP2, plus the hybrid Ginetta-Zytek LMP1 go streaking by as the Drayson Lola driver tries to match their speed.And then we close with the final laps where Cocker's giving the Judd V10 a proper workout and dropping his lap times with each tour. He's trying to learn, dealing with obstacles, has a few prototypes to chase, and shows us what it's like to go through a whole range of challenges over 15 minutes in a classic era of American sports car racing.
