Had this machine been featured in GT SPORT as well, boy it would've been an OP monster with that game's power based ranking system...''Beginning in November of 1992, the first generation NSX Type R was available over the course of a limited three year period run, and then became an icon. Seven years later, a new NSXR was shown as a concept car at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show, reviving the legend.And not long after, the NSX Type R once again became available to the public when it went on sale in May of 2002. Why such a long period between the Type R models? With the base NSX's performance already so high, engineers elected to wait for new cutting-edge automotive technology to incorporate into their rather than just carry over pre-existing packages.Special emphasis was placed not on the engine, which was addressed when the second-generation NSX's power plant had its displacement increased and was fitted with a new 6 speed manual transmission, but in the area of aerodynamics. Couldnt Be Happier! | Daihatsu Sirion Rally 2 Muffler Delete | Storia Rally | 1.3 K3VE2 Exhaust HSG Automotive 2024-06-14 | I've exhaust muffler deleted both my Jaguar XKR 4.2 and VW Golf R32 in the past, and never regretted either, now though its time to see the results on my current little daily driver runabout - the superb 2003 Daihatsu Sirion Rally II, aka 'Jube' or 'The Jellybean' as I affectionately call it.People tend to always go for the usual choices of catback or full straight pipe exhaust if they want to improve their cars' sound, but I much prefer the back box bypass shown here. You keep the core sound of the engine, but vastly improve the low down bass and increase the rumble factor while idling and cruising - even here on this little 1.3 litre Twin Cam K3VE-2 inline 4 cylinder, which now sounds like a blend of baby Subaru and tiny VR6 in the higher revs (these things redline around 8,000 rpm).It also doesn't remove the cat or resonator in the case of a modern car like this, so no effect on emissions and minimal drone in the cabin (beyond what you would want to hear at least). GT7 | 93 Honda Civic SiR-II (EG) | Gran Turismo 7 Car Review HSG Automotive 2024-06-05 | Even as a non Civic aficionado, I'll be the first to say that this 'standard' version of the iconic SiR-II EG Civic is a fantastic car to drive, especially when you drop the weight out even more and pump up the already decent power (for its time in particular) to attain supercar worrying ability at trackdays...''When the fifth-generation Civic came around in September 1991, Honda was regarded as one of the foremost front wheel drive makers in the world. The new Civic, dubbed the "Sport Civic", took all the values of the previous model and made them slightly better. Three different body styles were offered: a 3-door hatchback, the newly christened "Ferio" 4-door sedan, and a 5-door hatchback, known as the "shuttle". Underneath their hoods were a variety of new engines, most of them featuring VTEC technology: the base models came with a 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter inline-4; mid-level models had either an easy-to-service 1.5-liter SOHC VTEC inline-4 or a fuel-efficient 1.5-liter with VTEC-E; and the premier Civic model was powered by none other than the mighty 1.6-liter DOHC inline-4 that produced 168 HP, 10 HP more than any previous generation SiR motor.To handle the extra power, Honda engineers stiffened up the car's double wishbone suspension system. The most superior version was the GTS-R that was introduced in 1987. GT7 | 93 Volvo 240 SE Estate | Gran Turismo 7 Car Review HSG Automotive 2024-06-03 | Gran Turismo 7 has built up quite a pattern of adding what I would call 'semi-returning vehicles', that is to say cars which old school GT players will immediately recognise, despite not actually being the versions which were included before. The 1993 Volvo 240 SE Wagon here being a prime example, since the last Volvo estate which we had in GT was of course the similar but different 240 GLT. Despite this one being slightly slower out of the box, its upgrades are a night and day improvement over the older non-premium model which we used to have...''When the 240 was introduced in 1974, it featured a number of different body styles, including the "244" sedan, the "242" coupe and the "245" 5 door wagon. The last digit in these numerical designations denoted the number of doors of the model.It wasn't until 1983 that these variants were consolidated into a single 240 model. The model was introduced with round headlights, but were replaced with the company's iconic square lamps in 1979. The exterior appearance of the 240 was timeless, remaining largely unchanged until production of the vehicle ended in 1993. But in terms of safety, it was always on the cutting-edge, with airbags and ABS offered as standard equipment. The Estate was extremely popular, making up one-third of the 240 sales mix in an era when sedans were the 'in' thing.One of the most notable features of the 240 Estate was its styling. GT7 | 00 Honda Castrol Mugen NSX GT500 (JGTC) | Gran Turismo 7 Car Review HSG Automotive 2024-06-02 | This millenium era NSX Super GT machine quickly became the standout car for me from GT7 1.48, especially given how mixed my history has been when it comes to JGTC NSX's, particularly with their more unusual handling profile back in the PS3 era when the Supra and Skyline were much more straightforward and 'expected' in their driving manners...''During the 2000 season of the Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC), the three big automakers Honda, Toyota and Nissan were engaged in a fierce battle for GT500 prominence. The Honda (Acura) NSX engineers made major changes to its race car that year, placing an idler gear between the output shaft and transmission. They also used thinner and more compact gears of Formula cars. As a result, the exhaust pipes that once ran under the engine were moved around the sides, allowing the powerplant to be lowered for improved centre of gravity.Five teams raced the revived NSX in 2000. Among them were the Castrol Mugen NSX and Takata Dome NSX, which assumed the role of advanced-development "works cars" for the NSX camp. The car with the overwhelming speed was the Takata Dome NSX, and it took two wins right away. Because the JGTC used a weight handicap system to even out the competition, the Takata Dome NSX's handicaps were too much to overcome to take the championship. In its shadow emerged the Castrol Mugen NSX that progressed through the season with consistently good finishes. The driver were Ryo Michigami and Sebastian Philippe, with Philippe being replaced by Hidetoshi Mitsusada halfway through the season. The Castrol Mugen NSX handled the weight handicaps incurred from its 1st place finishes and went on to take the series championship.It became the first Honda NSX to win a high-level Japanese GT championship. In the top GT500 class of the Japanese GT Car Championship (JGTC), there was a real dogfight between the factory teams of Honda, Nissan, and Toyota, who were always trying to one-up each other. Since 1997, Honda had been competing with its NSX GT race car. But tuning regulations in the JGTC restricted the development of the NSX GT. This led to less than satisfactory results on the track, but Honda's race department refused to give up. Through tuning of the car's aerodynamics and improvements to weight balance, the NSX steadily improved year after year. All of that perseverance came to fruition in the 2000 season when the Castrol MUGEN NSX took home the series championship. Today, the original NSX has become a consummate collector car, an icon of Japanese automobiles.
