I like Narrow Gauge.#durangocolorado #473 #476 #480 #482 I recently went on a family trip to Southwestern Colorado and one of the destinations on the list was the legendary Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. This trip was originally set to happen in late May, but it had to be pushed back due to personal issues going on at the time. You could call it a happy accident, as the dates we ended up going on were around the same time some other great excursions were scheduled.The footage in this video was filmed from August 26th through August 29th of this year, and a lot was going on. I managed to see four of the Mikado's in operation, which were 473, 476, 480, and 482. On the 27th, 473 was pulling a special mixed train as a photo charter to celebrate the 100th Birthday of her and her sisters. On the 28th and the 29th, she and 476 also double-headed. Even Galloping Goose No. 5 was visiting too! Riverside and Great Northern Railway: 07/22/2023 TheLOKRailfan 2023-07-25 | On Saturday, for the first time in roughly two decades, I re-visted the Riverside and Great Northern railway in the Wisconsin Dells!Engine No. 82 was running and she put on a fine show, I was very pleasantly surprised to see how friendly the volunteers were as well. One of them allowed me to fill 82's water tank. Definitely will have to visit again, ideally it'll be sooner than another 20 years.Fun fact: I've previously uploaded videos about the trains at the Milwaukee County Zoo, those trains were actually built here in the 1960's!
MCRY No. 1256 Run Around - 07/23/2023 TheLOKRailfan 2023-07-24 | Quite a few things have changed at the Mid-Continent Railway Museum since my visit in 2015, notably several engines and coaches getting repainted, some new pieces of equipment and others now gone due to getting sold off, and even a new barn. Though still no steam sadly, so I was greeted by their Baldwin RS-4-TC-1A, No. 1256, once again. Here's a short video of it running around the train at the depot.

When "Thomas, Twins, and Trickery" was published, I thought it was a happy coincidence that I had Bachmann models of all of the characters featured in the story, so I took a swing at adapting it with models. Illinois Railway Museum: June 17, 2023 TheLOKRailfan 2023-06-19 | Yesterday I visited the Illinois Railway Museum to hang out with @LizProductions5784 and @ATSF669 . In this video you'll see footage of 1630 doing her classic coach train runs along with the CTA 4400's, CTA 3142, and Shay 5 running light engine, for this weekend was her throttle time session. In addition there's also some footage of the layouts at their model railroad exhibit at the end.In addition, though not seen in this video, the museum's newest locomotive, a rare EMD RS1325, had arrived. From what I've heard, it isn't operational yet, but if I had to guess they may try to get it running by Diesel Days. Time will tell. Enjoy the video!
Thomas and the Magic Railroad Concept: Original Shining Time Station Song TheLOKRailfan 2023-06-06 | Yeah, that title's a mouthful, sorry.Whenever I see reviews on Thomas and the Magic Railroad, a lot of the times people in the fandom pointed out how little elements from the Thomas show are in the movie, especially with how many characters aren't in it. I don't know how many of them realize that it's actually the same for Shining Time Station. Not only was the best character Schemer completely omitted, but they didn't even use the original song. So here's a quick edit I recently did to showcase what it would have been like if they did, using the workprint to go off of. Lionel 58 Snowplow: Unboxing and First Impressions TheLOKRailfan 2022-12-24 | I recently bought a Lionel 58 Rotary Snowplow (Great Northern) since I wanted to have something that stood out more than the other motorized units in my O Gauge collection, and this model has always intrigued me. In fact, I used to be creeped out by it as a kid because of a brief scene that features it in I Love Toy Trains 2. ERTL HO/OO Toby Showcase TheLOKRailfan 2022-11-28 | I mentioned in a recent community post that among my Trainfest haul was a huge lot of ERTL Thomas and Friends pieces, which were provided to me for free as the person I got them from was trying to clear up some space and didn't want them anymore. Among the lot was a couple Toby's, and I came up with an idea to go Leokimvideo and try giving one of them HO/OO wheels!I was originally planning to show how I did it in this video, but the process was so simple that I think you'll have an easy time figuring it out on your own. I grabbed some plastic wheels I had lying around (They came off of an Accurail freight car, I had swapped them out with metal ones), took apart the Toby model, and at first I was hoping they'd just drop right in, but since the axles are much fatter than that of the ERTL ones, I had to do some filing and cutting on the chassis to get them to fit properly. Thankfully, with the sideplates in mind, no one will notice when he's on the track.If you're planning to convert ERTL models into HO runners yourself, I definitely recommend starting with Toby (Or Mavis if you have one). He's one of the easiest to do. The Return of Trainfest TheLOKRailfan 2022-11-15 | For the first time since 2019, Trainfest at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in Milwaukee was hosted this weekend! There were still some differences between now and what the original was like (I noticed a few layouts and vendors that weren't there this year) but there were some new additions too! A couple of Thomas fans brought in Gauge 1 replicas that they had built for display. I saw some very impressive replicas of James, Percy, BoCo, and SkarloeyAs a bonus, there's also a little bit of footage of trains running at the Lionel Railroad Club of Milwaukee at the end of this video, most of which are owned by my friend @metalheadrailfan , as he came up and I offered to both test some models he got at the show and run one of his crown jewels, an I Love Toy Trains set, on the layout. Western Maryland: The Scenic Line TheLOKRailfan 2022-10-24 | This weekend, I made another eastern steam trip! This time I made my way to the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad to see their newly restored 1309 steam locomotive. I gotta admit, it sure is a beast, and really does put on a show pulling 8-9 passenger cars up the climb to Frostburg. It was also wearing the New York Central 6 Chime while I was here.Couldn't say this video is solely about her though, as I saw all of the diesels (Except 502 which hasn't ran for several years) in operation too. Their newest locomotive, NIWX 558, was assisting 1309's train from the rear, and 501 and 450 did a push-pull on the Pumpkin Patch. You'll also get to see the ride behind 1309 up to Frostburg from the perspective of Ocean View. Narrow Gauge Fever: A look into HOn30/009 TheLOKRailfan 2022-10-15 | I’ve noticed that in recent years, HOn30, or 009 for British modelers, has been getting more and more popular. Why might this be the case? If I had to guess, it’d be a combination of 3D Printing and the fact that Bachmann’s been releasing the Skarloey Railway engines in this scale too, so the Thomas community have been eating it up. Tales of a Railyard: The original Episode 19 TheLOKRailfan 2022-10-08 | One of the main reasons why Episode 19 took as long as it did was because it was almost completely different. The original version was titled "Abandoned" and while the core story was still there, with it being about Vincent discovering the existence of 2904 and rescuing him, I had to make a lot of changes at the last minute for reasons explained in this video. I didn't want the original footage that had been filmed in advance to be lost to time though, so I figured I'd upload what was left in a "Hi-8" style video, inspired by ThomasTankMerch's recent uploads of all the Season 5 footage. Illinois Railway Museum: Showcase Weekend 2022 TheLOKRailfan 2022-09-19 | Came for some shay action and to see the Zephyr again after a while, but I got more than I bargained for!Not only did SLRG 515 make its first run at the museum this weekend since being donated... But 1630 also did a photo freight! This is probably the first time she's pulled one since... Heck, probably prior to her going out of service in 2004, if you don't count the 135 car train of bathtub gondolas she pulled in 2016. Fingers crossed that we might see more of those in the future.

Why YOU should visit St. Louis! TheLOKRailfan 2022-08-31 | I'm finally back on my feet with my new once-or-twice a year routine of going on an independent trip to a town or city in the USA that has some great railroad-related attractions, and this time I decided to re-visit a city I had been to once, but had forgotten to visit the destination that most railfans will know it for: The National Museum of Transportation. Not only did I finally fill that gap, but I also enjoyed visiting the Six Flags park in Eureka, I don't talk about my love for roller coasters much on this channel, but Six Flags St. Louis is the first big theme park I've visited since 2015, so it was so much fun. Trainz 2019: N&W 475 at the Illinois Railway Museum TheLOKRailfan 2022-06-27 | If you've taken a look into Illinois Railway Museum's history like I have, you might learn that several beloved operating steam locomotives at various tourist railroads across the country were once housed there. The list includes Western Maryland 734, Saginaw Timber Company 2, and even Norfolk and Western 475. Yes, in the early-mid 1980's, the famous Mastodon was stored at the museum, and I think I heard somewhere that when it was, the museum wanted to restore her to operation themselves. But as we all know, that wouldn't happen. 475 ended up later being moved to the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad, then to Strasburg Railroad where it would finally get a new lease on life.But... What if IRM had kept 475, and actually did restore her to operation themselves? Milwaukee Road 261: North Pole Express 2021 TheLOKRailfan 2021-12-06 | I've waited 13 years to feel this warm...I decided to visit one of my friends in the Twin Cities and finish of my "Steam year" with seeing 261 again. I saw her a long time ago in September 2008, and my memory of that has been fading recently.
