Framerate in this game seems to be caped at 38 fps. Forcing Anti-Aliasing in drivers introduces artifacts.

It's playable at this res The fps is visible on some of the clips - just add ~4-5fps. The other clips show roughly 30fps because of v-sync (hence the smoother video) Another thing you can see is the VRAM usage. It's usually around 1.8GB. So i guess 2GB of VRAM on this graphics card can be helpful when high res textures are turned on.
I'm quite surprised this game is playable at such resolutions and with medium/high settings.

This game is too demanding for this system :P You can hit slightly above 30fps so it is kind of playable, but as we know 30fps is not a good option in this type of game.
To get more than 40fps you will gonna have to lower the resolution to 1600x900.
To get around 60fps you will gonna have drop it further to 1366x768, which is the resolution of cheaper HDTVs (HDready).
If you want fairly solid 60fps then 1280x720 is probably the only option
The options i used: Textures - Ultra Anisotropic filtering - x8 Post AA filter - Low and the rest is on lowest. Some options are not too taxing so you could set some of them even to ultra and still maintain good framerate. I just set them to "lowest" to squeeze as much frames as possible :D
It's also possible to set everything to Ultra @ 1366x768 and get slightly more than 30fps...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keep in mind that the framerate you can see on the video is captured during the recording so it is lowered by a few frames. (about 5fps, maybe) As we can see, the CPU utilization is quite good, all 4 cores are working quite heavily.
================================================ For those who love quality, i upscaled the video to 3840x2160 using nearest neighbor algorithm. This way YT is giving more bitrate and so the video looks better :) Oh, as I said in the beginning, the video uploaded to youtube is RTV1 video captured by MSI Afterburner, It was then upscaled and compressed using Lagarith lossless codec. So this is the best RTV1 can look on YT.Return To Castle Wolfenstein [Gameplay HD] Catacombs, 1440p, 21:9, 3440x1440Q36BN2014-07-23 | Max Settings, 4xAA, 3440x1440, 1440p Aspect Ratio 21:9, or 2.38:1.

How to get the best quality on YT.Q36BN2014-05-12 | I got disappointed by the standard 1080p quality on YouTube. So i decided to make a test with 4k UHD upscaled video.
It turns out, that if you double the size of the video - double the resolution from 1920x1080 to 3840x2160 using the simplest scaling algorithm like Nearest Neighbour your video will be looking better than standard, not upscaled 1080p video.
You can also make it looking better by increasing vertical resolution, or simply recording in 16:10 Aspect Ratio i.e. 1920x1200. Obviously, it would be best if you and viewer had the same resolution, but you can't have everything. If you recorded the video in 1920x1200, and someone will be watching it on 1920x1080, it won't be as good, as if he watched it on 1920x1200... Why? Because of scaling artifacts, loss of sharpness. At least compression will be lower, and that's what you and viewer want. =============================================== HERE ARE VIDEOS in different resolutions: http://youtu.be/5OCPcShpAOI 1920x808 http://youtu.be/4z2UgLCoufE 1920x1080 http://youtu.be/CW9DpCJPt1A 1920x1200 http://youtu.be/LC5sT66dr5A 2048x1152 http://youtu.be/pbtqVRcZxnY 3840x1616 http://youtu.be/FmDbzA6Kc2M 3840x2160

Since a lot of people asked me how to play The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth 2 in widescreen, and i got tired of answering, here is a quick info/tutorial how to do it by installing the mod, or newest Patch. Easy stuff.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A bit of warning, from my experience! I don't know about the nvidia, but If you have ATI Graphics Card connected to your Full HD Monitor by VGA/D-Sub cable, and if you have Windows 7 or 8 (probably Vista too), and you forced FullHD, WUXGA resolution in Graphics Card Drivers on those systems, then most probably you won't be able to set those resolutions in the game. If i understand this correctly it's kind of a (vista, 7, 8) Windows system fault, Microsoft changed something, and drivers doesn't work as they work in XP. Everything works like a charm on XP. I was able to workaround this in "window supporting" games such as Titan Quest, which lets you play in window or in full-screen. But BFME2 don't have this option, and even "cheating" with software like D3D Windower or dxwnd doesn't do a thing. It just doesn't work. You can specify 1920x1080 in options.ini file, but the game will run in 800x600 if your monitor is connected through VGA cable and you forced FHD res in drivers. So... even though Windows is running in FHD, BFME2 will not.
Update on this subject. I now have Nvidia GF GT 640, and this game on this card (and nvidia drivers) is working correctly. I don't know if AMD updated their drivers to correct above mentioned problem, but on Nvidia it workds correctly.

It eats the frame rate down to 32fps! While some additional shadows are always welcome, in some cases it creates some nasty effect on trees. This game has some really good normal maps and parallax occlusion. Character animations are also good. Textures at times may be a little bit bad, but for most of the time they are very good. Although the game can has this plastic, like Doom 3, feeling.
TimeShifting abilities are nice, but they last for a short time! Too short, you can't play with it too much :( and that brings us to another problem, the opponents are too strong, hitting them in the head doesn't always mean instant death. If there's too many enemies you can easily die, because you dont have enough time manipulation control. Reversing time is virtually useless, coz it last, literally, only couple of seconds, and after you drain the TimeShifting limit to zero, you must wait, which in a place full of enemies means dying. The only really usable skill is slowing time because it last much longer so you won't drain the limit too quick. Time stopping may by useful at times but that's all.
The thing is, there are places/situations in the game specially designed for time reversing/stopping and ONLY in those situations time manipulations last longer :(
I decided not to make classical gameplay (there is a ton of gameplays in HD on YT already, so...) but a quick test / info vid showing how this game performs on GeForce GT 640, which i bought because my old Radeon HD 4650 died.Star Command Deluxe [Gameplay SD] 4:3 presentationQ36BN2012-08-23 | Star Command Deluxe - an old game now, developed by Metropolis. It's a reworked version of Star Command: Revolution with reworked graphics. Deluxe is for Windows 95 You can choose from 4 races/factions and play on 10 maps with 3lvl difficulty, and with up to 3 enemies (computer).
This gameplay is not typical, as i tried to make a presentation of the game, showing most of the units and what they can do. I failed a bit at that, coz it would take a lot of time and 15 min is already a pretty long video. So it's not a thorough presentation. I will try to add some annotations describing what is what. In short, all those factions have similar ships. For example they have ships which can shoot at long distance, they also have a slow ships which deals a heavy damage at short range, and so on. But each faction also have some special units, like a Teleporter in Computron faction, or a Switcher in Terrans.... Also, each faction deals a specific damage, like control in Terrans, with this you can gain control over enemy units - they are now your ships... :)
At the beginning of this description, i wanted to say sorry for the rough cuts in the movie. But
Windows Movie Maker - sux,
Windows Live Movie Maker - sux too,
Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 - also sux.
They all are giving shitty quality.
At first, i had nicely edited the gameplay in WLMM but when i saw the output at the highest quality, i had to resign, and use the old method again:
cutting and joining files in MKVtoolnix, and then encode it to mkv at 8Mb/s.
I used RipBot264.

About the vid:
Don't get me wrong, Half-Life 2 is a great game, its just that i happen to find this funny glitch, and i thought it might be nice to make a vid showing it...
The glitch is based on some strange, i don't know, collision effect(?), (physics).
If you stand on the pickaxe, it will kick you out to heaven :D.
But it won't happen with any pickaxe.
I dont quite remember where did i found this very special pickaxe, though...
Normally, on this map, you need to get to the other side of the bridge using a car.
But if you exploit the glitch you can jump on/to the other side of the bridge, and so you will not gonna take a car with you...
So what will happen then if you haven't used a car?
Well, see for yourself:
First at 4:55 (you used a car)
and hen at 5:51(you didn't use a car) :)
She still says "great driving", but you didn't even touch the car :P :P :P hehe thats what happens when you cheat :P

Last edited on 25.11.2012 Gameplay from "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth II" on Forochel map. I used "BFME2 Widescreen Enhanced" so its was finally playable. Here is a video explaining how to set it up to play in widescreen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1r0m40mp7A
In-game menu is stretched but the rest is in proper aspect ratio.
============================================= I recorded this at 1920x1080 because i have some problems with my monitor at 1280x720. I apologize in advance for those rough cuts in this clip. Windows Movie Maker sucks! Wax 2.0 sucks!. I couldn't get this vid done in those editors. So what i did is: i cut whole gameplay into pieces that i wanted. Then joined them into 1 video and converted it to mkv. MKV Encode was: 10min 12sec, 4mb/s, 1080p, DXVA compliant; and filesize was 306,4 MB. At first bitrate was 6mb/s, but youtube compression is so high, that it could be wast of time, so i end up with 4mb/s.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now little info about this clip. It starts with the menu; I then choose skirmish and decided to play as Dwarfs against Mordor forces on difficult level. There is also 'brutal' difficulty level. But it takes a lot of time to beat it.
Anyway, i like some ideas in this sequel, but i think i like more the first BFME.
As you can see, there is a little of preparation at the beginning of this vid. I build some mines, then a "barracks" to create dwarfs. I also wanted to show some graphics improvements over the first game. Not much, but still... Anyway, this vid is still about battle. Nothing fancy here, no heroes or Balrog in this battle, but...
Oh, everything is set to max (no AA), running quite good on Radeon HD4650, intel q9300 (3GHz), 4GB RAM at 1920x1080.Project: Snowblind [Gameplay HD] 4:3Q36BN2010-05-23 | One example: Original recording http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/8458/01original.png MKV encode http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/3/02mkvrip.png YT 960x720p compression http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/931/03ytmp4compression.png All right, here it is. Project: Snowblind. Not a bad game. I bought a Deus Ex packet and Project Snowblind was included in it. Well, i must say i didnt enjoy playing first Deus Ex. It was too boring for me. For a stealth game i would rather pick Hitman series, or Splinter Cell. Ah, well, i finished Deus Ex at about 4th mission and skipped to Deus Ex Invisible War. This one has better graphic and dynamic shadows, so at least there is better atmosphere/climate. But i skipped that too, and hop on Project Snowblind. And yeah, i liked it. Though graphics are not great.
One more thing. There is no way to run this game in widescreen. 16:9 is not supported. Neither official nor unofficial. But if you don't like ugly stretched 4:3 image to 16:10 by your display, there is a way to force other resolutions such as 1920x1200 ; but the proportions will not be preserved in this "hack". Here is the example: 1600x1200: http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7814/ps1600x1200.png 1920x1200: http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/2752/ps1920x1200.png
This game run pretty good on Radeon HD 4650 with "everything" on max; without anti-aliasing at 1600x1200. No slowdowns.
Now, i used Windows Movie Maker this time to make this gameplay vid. But it looks like it sucks. softer than original recording. But it would be a pain * to rework this gameplay vid in a different software... After editing all the vids i made, i had to install Windows Media Encoder so i could save it to HD format(!) 11 min limit on YT forced me to edit-out some wasting time scenes and minor mistakes. I think its a bit underrated game... Youve got 11 weapons - and every weapon has alternative mode, for example, pistol in alternate mode shoots a "mini bomb", machine-gun in altmod shoots grenades, and so on.... , you've got also 5 types of grenades, for example EMP Grenade, Spiderbot Grenade,...; then, you've got riot wall, Icepick (to hack into security systems or robots), and you've got Nano Boost(it can revive you if you're almost dead. You can use vehicles, walkers, but controlling them is not easy, especially cars. And at last, you've got your bio-modifications: Vision (night vision, x-ray vision, and infrared vision) Ballistic Shield, Cloak (invisibility), Reflex Boost (slow motion), Electrical Storm. --------------------------------------------------------- It was my first time editing something in windows movie maker... But again, picture quality sucks.Pariah [Gameplay HD] widescreenQ36BN2009-11-12 | A Gameplay from "Pariah".

hmm. the thing that annoyed me in this game was small weapon's magazine (clip)... after a short time you have to reload...
But, you can customize your weapons. Add "quick reload", better accuracy, and so on..
Just as it was with "prince of persia: sands of time".
Its good for widescreen notebooks, where you can't "tell" your display to not stretch 4:3 image to 16:9.
Everything was set to max.
Run pretty good on: Core2Quad 3GHz, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 4650 1GB. Win XP pro 32Bit. Of course there are some slowdowns but quite rare. Especially when there is a lot of smoke. Looks like this GPU is not good at calculating smoke-like effects. I was having the same slowdowns in high res on Prince of persia. But, hey! its one of the cheapest graphic cards on market!
Playing this in widescreen is quite inconvenient, coz like i said, it's zoomed and cropped on top and bottom of the image. And when you play this in such a small res like 1280x720, its getting pretty annoying. Normally i played this in 4:3 - 1600x1200 res. which was kinda good. But having a lot of characters, even on such resolution, forces you to move screen in order to control everything.
Another thing is that i tried to complete this battle within 10 min. Thats why i jumped all over the places :)there was like 4min to the end of this mission. I had to wait till countdown show 0:00:00. ;) And then- "Mission Success"
Pretty good game.
It was just "Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War". No expansion packs.
edit: fixed image hoster :PPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time [Gameplay HD] widescreen 16:9 (The Setting Sun)Q36BN2009-06-08 | Gameplay of the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Level: The Setting Sun. 95%. Its widescreen, even though game itself doesnt suport it; there is a way to workaround this. But, its not "truly widescreen" i mean its cropped. So in 4:3 mode you can see more verticaly. While here - less. But, for a "notebook players" its a good way to play it at a native resolution with proper aspect ratio. :)
What else, everything is SET TO MAX. And running very well on Radeon HD 4650 at 1920x1200. With Core 2 Quad 3GHz and 4GB ram. :)
Update:
The thing worth noticing is, as i said, in widescreen image is cropped at the top and bottom. You're not going to see more than on 4:3 Aspect Ratio. BUT, in 5:4 AR which is 1280x1024, image is like "open matte" and you can see more vertically. After wining there is a movie. A real one. Niobe goes to the Oracle and after conversation there is an another level where you run from agent.. and then you fly Logos.
If you not beat Seraph, you go straight to the level where you fly Logos. After that, its end of the game.Crimes of War (UberSoldier 2) [Gameplay HD] maxedQ36BN2009-03-05 | Everything is set to max except for anti-aliasing which is set to 4. 6 is max. Its 5th part / level. called "Train". Video shows whole level with cartoon ending and applying extra points to your character. Video in 1280x720. Played on ATI HD4650, Core 2 Quad 3GHz
Original video looks much better, but youtube compression is too high, so bear with this...
