Flying in 360 Over Lake Powell, AZ Craig Peyton 2021-07-08 | Take a VR flight in my little blue Mooney over Lake Powell. Flying over Lake Powell late June ‘21 during the epic heat wave was beautiful/intense. Using a 360 cam, music I wrote. REMEMBER to go to highest quality 1080 for playback. Here's a link to the 16x9 version: youtu.be/HL6fV-q28qU It was crazy hot down below (+110F) which made the plane overheat, and added extreme density altitude problems on all take offs and landings. (airplanes don't like hot/high airports) Using the 360 cam, I love the ability to see much more here than when I when flew the shot, so editing this is a new discovery. The working title is ‘Waterbugs’ ...thinking of the little boats playing below surrounded by the intense desert heat, while in the middle of a record drought. It made me think of those waterbugs skimming across a drying up puddle I watched as a kid. The music is mostly hand played, blending into the wind noise and 'floating'. That concept led to making this video honoring the different forms of water on our planet. Bamboo Gamelan Lesson Ubud Bali 2018 Craig Peyton 2018-12-11 | Spent the morning with a wonderful teacher, learning the Bamboo 'Jegog' style of Gamelan. The repeating patterns of Gamelan have influenced my music since hearing a Gamelan orchestra at Cal Arts, as a teen. It fit right in with Hendrix, Miles, Soft Machine etc... , and many others, like Steven Reich, Phill Glass, and even Debussy. Each town has a different tuning and style, and although somewhat rigid in the authentic versions, my teacher was easily having fun with improvising. It was fun to share ideas in this beautiful library/temple setting in Ubud.
