Dark Tranquillity has been a band that I've been following for quite some time, and since I've already done piano renditions of other Swedish bands such as Opeth, In Flames, Katatonia, the next logical step was to pay a tribute to the DT as well. Nikola Cvetkovic Plays OPETH | PIANO WORKS | VOL. 2 Nikola Cvetković 2020-10-29 | *A compilation with 13 solo piano renditions of Opeth's music.*Those of you who have been following my work, probably already know about my first edition of Opeth's piano renditions album which I released last year. This time around, I'm proud to present you the second edition in these series. I have to admit that I wasn't quite planning on doing this one, as if the first one wasn't already challenging enough, although some of the songs that I have now included were initially planned to be put in the first edition, but I just wasn't at the right mindset at the time and simply didn't record them. That said, it gave me some time to re-think about the arrangements, and so I sat down and practiced like crazy until I was completely satisfied with the results. For some of the songs, I didn't even thought in the first place that I'll be able to do a proper arrangement, since I always strive to be 100 percent sure that it will make for a good piano cover. Please note that I didn't write the sheet music, it is just way too much of a hassle above the already hard work that is transcribing the complexity of these songs. Nikola Cvetkovic Plays OPETH | PIANO WORKS | 2019 Nikola Cvetković 2019-07-09 | A compilation with 13 solo piano renditions of Opeth's music.Not long after I published my compilation with Katatonia piano renditions, I thought that the next logical step would be to cover Opeth as I've been a fan of the band for a very long time. Needless to say that it was a bit tricky re-arranging the songs for a solo piano due to their progressive and complex nature, but I sat down and worked on it until I was completely satisfied. I picked the songs from various periods of Opeth's discography, mainly those that would sound most suitable when transcribed and played on a piano. Probably my most ambitious project to date. Heir Apparent, Broken Arm and Live Show Nikola Cvetković 2018-02-08 | So, as you can notice, my arm is in a cast. I've sustained an injury in a mountain biking accident a week ago, and I will be wearing this for two more weeks, and then I'm starting physical therapy hopefully. Will take some time before I can play regularly with both hands, but that's how it goes. It's not my first time breaking an arm, so it's all familiar.Second thing, on June 24th I will be performing a live, night show in Kharkiv/Ukraine at Ragnard Reborn Festival, so if there's anyone near that area, come by as I will be playing my album with Katatonia's music in its entirety! Playing Tesseracts Exile (piano) Nikola Cvetković 2016-02-16 | PLEASE NOTE: This is not a full piano cover. I played some bits of the song, starting from the chorus part, since it has just way too much going on to be played in a single take on piano. I probably could cover the entire song if I put some extra effort and time into it, or maybe not! It's just too complex to arrange it all for two hands. Separating right from the left hand seems to be more difficult than in some classical pieces I've played, haha! But oh well. It isn't perfect, particularly the rhythm sections, but I loved the harmonies and overall groove of the song, so, regardless, I just wanted to have some fun and enjoy in this little improvisation kind of thing. The hardest parts were the verses, it was a real b*tch arranging them. You can notice that the bass lines (specifically in the verse parts) weren't exactly the same as in original, I had to improvise in order to maintain the overall groove of the song, but I tried to follow the lead melody as much as possible.
