The game takes place in a cyberpunk, futuristic world with a darkly humorous tone. The environment is full of robots and futuristic technology, such as moving platforms. The world is crumbling and damaged due to being overrun by robots, so there are many dangerous drops and gaps. The dangerous feel of the environment is further enhanced by traps such as bloody rotating spikes.
This game is a puzzle-platformer in the vein of Mario, meaning that the player’s main goal is to use his/her platforming skills in order to reach the end of the level. However, there are three other goals that the player can strive for. Stars are awarded at the end of every level that rewards the player for completing each of the following goals: the player did not die, the player collected all the hatchlings, and the player beat the level.
Features of the game include jumping, double jumping, collecting hatchlings, and jumping on enemies to kill them. Double jumping allows players to reach higher platforms or avoid enemies altogether, while collecting hatchlings counts towards one of the player’s goals. Killing enemies also may be easier than avoiding them, but the player runs the risk of death. All of these features help support the core loop and pillar of platforming in our game.

Trickochet is a top-down puzzle game in which the player controls Pancho, a quick-shooting gunslinger, in a quixotic adventure where he faces off against a gang of sentient bottles and cacti, while protecting his own cactus friend, Sancho. Player’s aim to ricochet a limited number o? f bullets using a wide array of “ricochet-able” objects, such as metallic tables, longhorn skulls, and brick walls. In each level, the player’s goal is to eliminate all the enemies and gain a high score based off the number of ricochets, the number of enemies killed, and the number of stars picked up.
Trickochet hooks players with its simple puzzle-based gameplay. Players are encouraged to play again and again to try to execute the lucky “Trickochet”- the one shot, perfect shot that will kill all the enemies in a level. Players are encouraged to clear a level with as few bullets as possible, while still providing plenty of challenge with moving barriers, enemies that require more than one hit to eliminate, and non-interactive objects and barriers that will stop bullets dead in their tracks.
After being ambushed by the mob of Bottle Bandidos while in the midst of a card game with his friend Sancho, Pancho emerges guns blazing, ready to shatter any bottle or wilt any cactus who looks his way. With only six bullets in his chamber and a gang hot on his trail, he must make every shot count if he and Sancho want to escape in one piece.

Knight & Princess is a mobile game with a fantastical art style and simple controls. This game was developed over two months, from September 20, 2023, to November 20, 2023, as a student project at the SMU Guildhall. This project was chosen due to the team’s wish to make real-time interactive game in the time provided, and therefore the decision to minimize the art load through developing a one screen game. While making this game, the artist improved in the production of rapid 2D art, the programmers gained experience in programming in Unity, and the designer improved his skills of game balancing, level design, and programming.

Players experience the journey of a Donut Hero that must rescue their friends at the end of each level while collecting sprinkles along the way. Red Panda Studios chose this project because we were interested in many perspective puzzle games such as FEZ, or Super Paper Mario. We wanted to capture that same element of whimsy and silliness that those games embody, while also simplifying them to work on the tablet. In the end, we decided the story of a quest for a morning cup of coffee was too relatable not to tell, because many days that's exactly what that feels like, a quest.
This game was worked on for over 2 months, from the end of September to the start of December in 2023. This project was beneficial to the team members because for 3 of the 4 members this was their first time making a game. So it was an invaluable learning experience about the development process that goes into making a game.

Your goal is to navigate the map strategically, guiding your Hero Cats to adeptly push the villainous felines into water tiles and reclaim the streets from the Punk Cats' mischief. De-veloped over a two-month period, Catactics promises a polished and challenging experience, show-casing the collaborative effort of the development team. The project was led by David Adrian Flores and Omar Vaikness in software development, with Xinyu (April) Chen managing art creation, and Aidi (Edrian) Hu, along with Benjamin Blackmon, contributing to level design. Being motivated by a genu-ine passion for crafting a compact yet professionally polished gaming adventure, this endeavor al-lowed the team to refine their skills, collaborate seamlessly, and gain valuable insights into the intri-cacies of professional game development. Immerse yourself in strategic prowess with Catactics, navi-gate the challenges, and become the ultimate feline tactician. Are you prepared to restore order to the streets?

Calling all gamers. One North Texas university is turning a video game into a crime-fighting tool. Southern Methodist University researchers are using a federal grant to create a sex trafficking data warehouse.
Researchers are taking information from law enforcement databases and combining it with data that video game players will help collect by playing "Dark Shadows." Gamers will solve fictitious crimes by sorting out traffickers' names and crime locations from real U.S. Department of Justice press releases.
The project is funded by a $1.187 million grant from the U.S. Department of Justice National Institute of Justice. It includes a study about the relationship between economics and human trafficking.
