When You Were Young (Retro 80s Synthwave Cover) Michael Cozine 2020-05-13 | An 80s pop and synthpop inspired cover of "When You Were Young" originally by The Killers. This cover aims to reimagine the song as it would have sounded circa 1987 when PCM sampling synthesizers were starting to be heard on major records such as Michael Jackson's "Bad". We re-created the song using primarily synthesizers and VST emulations of classic synthesizers as well as LinnDrum LM1 samples. Most of the sounds were made using Roland's SH-101, D-50, and JX-3P plugins.This is a collaboration between producer/instrumentalist Michael Cozine and vocalist/songwriter Ailed Hernandez. Controlling Roland D-05 with Remote SL MkII Michael Cozine 2020-04-21 | If you're one of the few people who happen to own both a discontinued Roland Boutique D-05 module (or D-50/550) and a discontinued Novation Remote SL MkII (Mk2) model then you are in luck. Quarantine has put a lot of free time on my hands and I am using it to develop a full set of templates that integrates the Remote SL's controls near perfectly with the D-05 giving you the ability to control an ancient digital synth monster with the hands on control it never had. For years many relied on finding preset banks to avoid using the D-50s horrendous menu diving interface if they weren't fortunate enough to own a PG-1000 programmer. In recent years, some tablet applications as well as web programmers have surfaced to make programming this synthesizer much easier. But who wants to program a synth using a touch screen or a mouse? Not me. Luckily, this great discontinued line of Novation controllers is perfect for the D-50 family of synthesizers. The LCD screen and rotary encoders on the SL make programming quick, painless, and fun! This project is still in it's beginning stages but when it is complete I will release the full set of templates as a free download. In theory it should work as long as you on any member of the SL MkII line and either the Roland D-05, D-50, or D-550. My thought is that D-50 owners will find the Zero SLmkII a good companion for their synths.
PRESONUS ATOM! First finger drumming test Michael Cozine 2018-11-09 | I just got the new ATOM drum pad controller from PreSonus and have to say I am so impressed the velocity curve and sensitivity. This controller could pose some major competition to the Akai MPD and Native Instruments Maschine. In this video I'm just playing around, will make a formal review soon and maybe even a comparison to the MPD218. As you can see in this video, a huge range of MIDI velocities is possible and it feels very responsive to my playing and most of all NO DOUBLE TRIGGER.

Kodak Zi8 External Mic Test - Guitar Amplifier Michael Cozine 2010-08-26 | Tried using the Kodak Zi8 to mic a Mesa/Boogie Mark III guitar amplifier with a Black Shadow speaker. No effects were used except a 10-band eq, and the amp was at an extremely low volume(not even on 1). The pre-amp in the camera is very sensitive so i couldn't put it louder. Mic used was a Sennheiser e609 and went in to the camera via a high impedance mic cable.
