Birds of a Feather X Sunflower (Mashup) Amerald 2024-12-29 | I was sitting on this idea for quite sometime now, and after my finals, I just decided to fully sink my teeth into this project. I honestly really missed doing music videos but haven't had the right inspiration or the time to create new it. But, if all goes well, I'll continue to make music in due course!! Christmas Love (2) - Justin Bieber Amerald 2023-05-07 | I got alot to say about this cover. During 2022, I started to listen to more music, like actual good good music. Before this, I would constantly listen to top 100s. But in early March, I got into R&B because of the formation of Silk Sonic (Anderson Paak & Bruno Mars). I would listen to Anderson Paak's music, which has got me down a rabbit hole of R&B with different artists like Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. It was also during this time when I found indie rock bands like LoveJoy and Good Kid, and they help me elevate my guitar skills. Because previously, I would just look at the chords on ultimate guitar and just jam out. But after this Indie Rock phase, I started to arrange them using music theory, and together with my loop cover of "I think she knows", this song was the culmination of this musical journey that I have.The arrangement of this song consist of major 7, dominant 7, which are a completely new territory for me, and it really encompasses my musical journey so far. From constantly trying to 1 up myself in every performances, to enjoying the simplicity of music theory and incorporating it into my playing. God... Sorry I just really liked to talk about this kinds of stuff. Also, How can I forget the groove of this thing. Created by me, re-arranged to consist of barre chords just so that I can go wild with the rhythm. Sorry man, I just really love this performance.Honestly, I can go on forever about this performance, but I shall not bore you with more music theory. Taking a break from fingerstyle guitar is definitely the best musical decisions in my life, it has got me to become a better musician, instead of a better guitarist (arguably, I wouldn't call myself a good guitarist then either). But trust me when I say this, that I will definitely continue to play guitar and improve myself musically, and it'll be my pleasure to bring you on this ride
Night Changes (1) - One direction Amerald 2023-05-07 | One of my favourite performances ever solely because of the encouraging audience. Added on the fact that the 3 of us has natural musical chemistry, also, learning from my past performances, I took up the musical director role during the performance. You can probably not see it as well in this performance, but I was constantly calling shots to ensure that the singers hit their cues. And also... GGGOOOOOD DAAYYUUM, THE KEY CHANGE WAS ON POINTAllow me to be emo for a minute, but I performed this while I was going through the darkest time for my mental health, and it gave me a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. From this one performance, has encouraged me to want to play more performances, but in a new perspective. During my secondary school days I would play fingerstyle because I want to showcase my talents on the guitar, but in the year of 2022, I realised that it's really draining to constantly try to please other people, so I decided to just jam out with my friends and one thing let to another and this performance happened. Forever grateful🙏
Viva La Vida (5) - Coldplay Amerald 2023-05-07 | HALP! The singer came in early, and I needed to adapt to her, but I didn't think the pianist thought the same as me, and the audience also fussed out something funny as they were clapping. But hey at least the Chorus was goated. God dayum, this was a painful journey to listen back to this performance. I have improved so much compared to this performance. 2020 - 2021 was a tough time especially for my guitar journey, it was a lull period where I would normally feed into my ego to drive the performance instead of constant practise and musical training. But hey, at least now I'm alot better than this now XD
Just the way you are (4) - Bruno Mars Amerald 2023-05-07 | So, I commissioned this song because we wanted each instrumentalist to do a solo performance, and this was mine. AHHHHHH, bruh I performed this song before with the same arrangement and it was alot better. I just didn't have enough fingerstyle practise on this one. Firstly, the intro, it was all over the place. I couldn't stick to the tempo, but at least the strumming part was alot better. Secondly, this was not as hype as I wanted it to sound. I was hanging on the fact that it would sound just as nice as my last performance of this song. Lastly, there isn't chemistry between the singer and me, and you can really tell from this performance.
What are words (3) - Chris Medina Amerald 2023-05-07 | Uggghhhhh.... I hated this performance... So this song, I had to retune my strings before hand, and I only had like 1 minute to do so. Which is not enough time for me... At the end of verse 1, you can hear that 1 of my strings was out of tune and after that, I tried to hide myself behind thee piano. Lucky the sound engineer didn't increase the volume of the guitar😖. Also, you can hear that my guitar was buzzing quite intensely. BRrrruhhhhh, this was just a nightmare of a time for me
Shallow (1) - Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper Amerald 2023-05-07 | Damn, this series of performances has completely disappeared from my brain because I always thought that it was a bad performance on my end😅. This series of performances was done in July 2021😖.This is Shallow, listening it back, there were definitely some tempo issues because the 3 of us didn't have alot of chemistry, and we also didn't practise much
This is how you fall in love (2) - Chelsea Cutler and Jeremy Zucker Amerald 2023-05-07 | Second one, and listening it to it back, this is definitely the best song performed on this day. I would say that this would still be the quality that I will produce if I were to perform this song again today.
I Think She Knows (Loop station cover) Amerald 2022-09-29 | THE VIDEO IS NOT REAL!! IT'S LIP-SYNCED!!! I'M LYING TO YOU!!Heard this song while cycling and after knowing that John Mayer created a loop cover of this song, thought it'll be cool for me to try it out :)Recently rekindled my love for music again. I'll give guitar looping another shot, now with music theory and producing knowledges :)
