I then had to find an actual campground for the evening, where I could clean out the van, empty the black water, fill the fresh water, and finish packing to be ready to return the van the day after :( The Scotland adventure is quickly coming to a close, but not just yet - I still have a couple days in a hotel in Glasgow to look forward to after I drop off the van.Unfortunately, it's not legal to import this vehicle into Canada, so I have no way of buying this style of vehicle - but I am hopeful that someday, I'll be able to buy something comparable!

Last Day on the North Coast 500 || Scotland Campervan Trip - Day 14 Ericas Adventures 2019-09-15 | This was my last day driving on the North Coast 500 route as part of my solo Scotland campervan trip in a rented VW Caddy. After departing from Beinn Eighe, I head towards Torridon where I stumble across a group of Highland Cows that graciously pose for photos and videos. I then make my way into Applecross before heading over Bealach Na Ba - a beautiful, winding mountain pass - made a little less beautiful today because the top was completely covered in clouds, making the journey a little more nerve wracking than I had hoped. I forgot to film the top bits (though you wouldn't have seen anything anyways!) but captured some bits once I emerged from the clouds. I then headed off the North Coast 500 and ended up at Eilean Donan Castle. Filmed in July 2018

Exploring Handa Island & Clachtoll || Scotland Campervan Trip - Day 11 Ericas Adventures 2019-09-02 | Continuing along the North Coast 500 route in the Scottish Highlands, I end up taking a small ferry over to Handa Island, where I walk along the shores discovering birds and enjoying the views. Afterwards, I continue on and stumble across a spot I didn't know existed but was so happy to find just outside of Clachtoll. I hung out with sheep and a red deer, hiked along a stream and checked out an old mill before enjoying a late night view over the water. Certainly a day full of exercise! On Day 7, I officially embark on the North Coast 500 route, departing from Cromarty near Inverness and heading anti-clockwise, up the eastern coast of the route. Without any particular plans for the day, I stop in Invergordon, at the Badbae Historical Clearance Village, Cairn O'Get, Whaligoe Steps, Wick, and then setting in for the night in Nybster.

On Day 6, I woke up next to Fort George and explored this historical yet still active facility before heading across to the other side of the Moray Firth, directly across from Fort George, where I catch the dolphins as they come near to Chanonry Point to eat fish. I then wander to an overlook point near Cromarty where I find a spot to spend the night.
Exploring Urquhart Castle || Scotland Campervan Trip - Day 5 Ericas Adventures 2018-11-11 | In July 2018, I spent 28 days travelling the Scottish Highlands solo in a rented VW Caddy campervan. On Day 5, I wake up in Glen Etive and go for a swim in the loch before heading through Glencoe and onwards to tour Urquhart Castle. By the end of the day, I find myself just outside Inverness beside Fort George. I guess that this day technically also marks the beginning of my adventures on the "North Coast 500" route.

After spending my first night near Dumbarton Castle just outside of Glasgow, I headed north through Loch Lomond National Park and onwards to Glen Etive. I was lucky enough to find a spot to camp overlooking Loch Etive, where I spent two nights relaxing, reading, and coming up with a bit of a game plan for the rest of my trip. What did I get myself into? || Solo Campervan Trip in Scotland - Day 1 & 2 Ericas Adventures 2018-10-15 | In July 2018, I travelled to Scotland to spend four weeks touring around in a rented campervan. I was excited to give van life a go but wasn't fully prepared to drive exhausted, on the "wrong" side of the road, in an unfamiliar vehicle with unexpected "features". Thankfully, all turned out well and I made it to my first destination - Dumbarton Castle - where the sunshine and gorgeous view made the stresses of travel melt away, reigniting my excitement for the rest of the trip to come.
Dominion of Canada Pipes & Drums at Eilean Donan Castle Ericas Adventures 2018-09-29 | While I was visiting Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland, the Dominion of Canada Pipes & Drums happened to be there performing. What a lucky coincidence to hear bagpipe music at a castle... can't get much more Scottish than that.

Highland Cows Mooing Ericas Adventures 2018-08-22 | While driving through the Scottish Highlands, I can across these heilan coos mooing on the side of the road outside Applecross. Sorry for the shaky camera work - I was taking photos and not at all prepared for video but I couldn't miss the moment!
Scottish Puffins on the Isle of Staffa Ericas Adventures 2018-08-22 | I visited the unihabited Isle of Staffa on a day trip from the Isle of Mull, in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. The Isle is most famous for Fingal's Cave but also is home to a colony of puffins. These puffins have learned to trust humans because they know when humans are around, their predators (other larger birds) do not come around! Smart cookies. I highly recommend taking a tour to Staffa if you ever get the chance!
Van Tour: VW Caddy Campervan with Pop Top || Adventures in Scotland Ericas Adventures 2018-08-17 | I rented this VW Caddy camper van conversion to tour around Scotland! It was a great mobile home base with which to explore the highlands and go anywhere my heart desired. I rented from http://www.rockinvans.co.uk and I highly recommend both their vans and their customer service - everything went very smoothly and was as promised! (They have no idea I'm making this video, so no, this is not sponsored.) I really enjoyed this method of travelling.
