Make a gift in honour of your dad to help bring a new Giraffe OmniBed Carestation to St. Joes St. Josephs Healthcare Hamilton and Foundation 2022-06-17 | This Father’s Day, we’ve partnered up with St. Joe’s dad, Matt D’Amico, to share how you can make a gift in honour of your dad while also helping our Hospital to care for babies who may need a little extra help. Every year, the Special Care Nursery at St. Joe’s cares for 600 newborns who arrive a little early, or are born with a medical condition that requires them to spend some time in Hospital before going home with their family. That’s when our Giraffe Omnibed Carestations come in. They look like an incubator, but they’re much more than that. They provide a stable, safe, warm environment for our tiniest patients, and deliver mechanically-supported breathing and feeding assistance. The specialized ports in the side allow for our care teams to access these tiny patients without moving their fragile little frames around too much, and enable new parents to foster a bond with their baby through comforting touches and closeness.Matt knows this first hand, since his son Luca was born at just 28 weeks. After a month and a half spent in a Giraffe Omnibed getting the specialized care he needed, Luca is getting ready to go home soon. And it’s the best Father’s Day present Matt could ask for. While here at St. Joe’s for the past few weeks, Matt learned that one of the Giraffe Omnibed Carestations we rely on is nearing the end of its useful lifespan. A Valentines Evening with Alan Frew in Support of Prostate Cancer Care and Research at St. Joe’s St. Josephs Healthcare Hamilton and Foundation 2022-02-15 | On Friday, February 11, Alan Frew of the iconic Canadian rock band Glass Tiger made a rare appearance at Hamilton's historic Zoetic Theatre to help raise funds to support prostate cancer care and research at St. Joe’s Hospital.We are grateful to local businessmen Gabe Macaluso, Matteo Sacco and Sergio Girgenti for planning this event in support of our Hospital. Event proceeds and associated donations tallied nearly $60,000 in funds raised that will help to bring MRI Fusion Biopsy technology to our Hospital. This technology supports the early detection and diagnosis of prostate cancer and will complement our leading-edge prostate cancer care, research, and robotic surgery programs.
