Micah Morris was the first to leave, and now it's Grant Horvat's. Arguably the two most talented (and mature) golfers have left the Good Good rocket ship to pursue other opportunities. But why? Why jump off a rocket ship when it's headed for the moon?
With various speculations flying around as to why Grant Horvat left Good Good Golf, we’ve decided to do some deep research, and reveal the real reason why he left.

And there's Grant Horvat and Micah Morris. The majority of people think Micah left Good Good because of a disagreement with the boys, despite the fact that he issued a statement claiming there is no animosity and that his priorities are his family and pursuing a professional golf career. As for Grant, many don't think there was a rift with his apparent departure from the group, especially because he has continued to get along well with the Good Good guys as far as anyone can tell. As a result, many of GG's fans were shocked to learn of his departure from Good Good.
Grant Horvat confirmed his exit from Good Good in a podcast he released last December 5th, 2022, on his YouTube Channel tagged - Good Good Explanation. Grant admitted in the video that deciding to quit Good Good was one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to make. He began the video by expressing his gratitude for the memories and experiences he has shared with the members of Good Good Golf. He added that these memories and experiences will always hold a special place in his heart. Grant also claimed that many of the messages he received and the narratives he's seen online were just speculation created by some people.
He stressed how open-ended many online issues are and how things are sometimes not what they seem. Grant stated that he was given several opportunities when he was with the guys, but he is unwilling to forgo any of them. Grant expressed his gratitude to everyone around him and debunked rumors of interference from outside. He claimed that no one else outside of himself had any influence on him. Grant acknowledged that he prayed about and put a lot of thought to his choice to leave Good Good. Contrary to popular opinion, it took him some time to decide to leave.
Many listeners may take home some of Grant's podcast comments, such as his wish to be able to spend more time with his father, as part of his justification for quitting the Good Good. Grant mentioned traveling to Florida to spend time with his Dad. He also A revealed that he would work harder on his personal YouTube Channel and continue to share his golf experiences with his Fan-base, considering how Golf is his passion. In the end, the members of Good Good Golf have affirmed that current and former members of the channel will continue to stick together like brothers and that Micah and Grant's departure from the company does not preclude them from staying in touch and participating in future collaborations.
So what exactly do we think really happened? Well we’re choosing to believe Grant. We don’t think there was any beef between the guys, and Grant really just wants to spend more time with family.
There’s also speculation that his fiancee might be pregnant. User raptor3x on reddit said: "To be honest, my first thought seeing the video was that they found out they're having a kid and moving closer to family became priority #1.
Ok-Assumption-2042 also left a comment on the issue and said: "Probably more along the lines of he’s engaged and can’t commit or doesn’t feel right committing to the schedule anymore. When they said they threw the kitchen sink at him it would have been because they wanted him to stay and that would’ve happened whatever the reason for him leaving is.

Well, there are big changes coming, with even bigger money at stake. Rory McIlroy explained his stance on Wednesday, and why the 23 players who met to discuss the future of the PGA Tour. I care deeply about sport. I care about its history, I care about its legacy, I care about the integrity of the game. And there's a lot of players out here that are like-minded and share those same views, so, I thought it was just right. … For the 23 of us that were in that room last Tuesday night, including Tiger, we all sort of — we all had to sit down and say, 'What is the best thing for our Tour going forth? What can we do to put the best product possible so that in 50 years' time, the PGA Tour is still thriving, and we can safeguard the future of the Tour?' With a new series of eight "elevated events" featuring massive purse money, another four events set to be added to the slate, the increase in money in the Player Impact Program, and the top players in the program playing against each other over 20 events starting next year, it's a massive shift in the PGA Tour landscape. In addition to the changes coming directly to the Tour, McIlroy and Tiger Woods are teaming up to bring a new team-based golf league to the scene in January 2024. PGA Tour changes, explained PGA Tour president Jay Monahan sent a lengthy memo to the players on Wednesday detailing several changes coming to the Tour: There are several key measures outlined. Here's what they are: Elevated events In addition to eight previously discussed "elevated events" that feature bigger purses, there will be four more elevated events throughout the 2023 PGA Tour season. The tournaments are to be determined, but they will have an average purse of $20 million, upping the prize money for the tournaments. Top players in 20 events A player collective will participate in the 12 elevated events, plus three more FedEx Cup events, the four majors and The Players Championship, for a total of 20 events. This guarantees that the best players will participate and play on the biggest stages. This also indicates that the top 20 players by Player Impact Program (PIP) must participate in 20 events per year, tightening the schedule for players, instead of loosening it. McIlroy explained the decision to move toward the collective playing against one another more frequently moving forward. I think if you're trying to sell a product to TV and sponsors, and to try and get as many eyeballs on professional golf as possible, you need to at least let people know what they're tuning in for. When I tune in for a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, I expect to see Tom Brady throw a football. When I tune in to a Formula 1 race, I expect to see Lewis Hamilton in a car. … We've all made a commitment to get together more often to make the product more compelling. Changes to the Player Impact Program The PIP will now reward 20 players, and the payout will double from $50 million to $100 million. In addition to this, the Q-metric and social media metrics aspects of the PIP will be removed, and replaced by "internet searches, general awareness, golf fan awareness, media mentions and broadcast exposure." Earnings Assurance Program Beginning next year, all fully exempt members are guaranteed a $500,000 league minimum. At the season's end, the program will fund any gap between comprehensive earnings and the minimum who participates in at least 15 events. Rookies have an option to get their payment up front. Travel stipend Non-exempt players will have access to the new Travel Stipend Program, which will give $5,000 to players who missed cut to assist with travel costs and expenses. This, along with the Earnings Assurance Program, replaces the Play15 Program which was instituted this season. LIV Golf Will Be Here For A Long Time!Golf Probe2023-01-25 | Greg Norman pays 'zero attention' to Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods and insists he's staying as LIV CEO.
Greg Norman says he is not the least bit bothered by criticism from PGA Tour golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and insists he is going to remain as LIV's CEO for a "long, long time." "I pay zero attention to McIlroy and Woods, right?" Norman told Today's Golfer. They're saying whatever they want to say. It has no bearing or effect on me. I'm going to be with LIV for a long, long period of time."
Tiger Woods has called for Greg Norman to quit as LIV Golf CEO to allow a peace settlement to be negotiated in golf's civil warmThe new tour, backed by the Saudis, has whisked away many PGA golfers due to higher financial payouts. Meanwhile, golfers loyal to the PGA Tour have been irked by the way Norman-led LIV operates.
There is also the matter of both sides filing suit against the other. Woods said the two tours cannot find peace until Norman is removed from his leadership role.
"I see that there's an opportunity out there if both organizations put a stay on their litigation," Woods said Tuesday at the Hero World Challenge, where he is the event's host. . And whether or not they do that or not, there's no willingness to negotiate if you have a litigation against you. But I think Greg has to go, first of all, and then obviously litigation against us and then our countersuit against them, those would then have to be at a stay as well. So then we can talk, we can all talk freely." Rory McIlroy says Greg Norman needs to step down from his position as LIV Golf chief executive immediately because golf's tours need an 'adult in the room' to help end their feud. Woods remarks were similar to ones McIlroy made at the DP World Tour Championship last month. "So I think there's a few things that need to happen," McIlroy said. "So there's obviously two lawsuits going on at the minute - there's PGA Tour versus LIV, and there's this one that's coming up with the DP World Tour in February.
"And then I think from whatever happens with those two things, there's a few things that I would like to see on the LIV side that needs to happen. I think Greg needs to go. I think he just needs to exit stage left. He's made his mark, but I think now is the right time to sort of say, look, you've got this thing off the ground, but no one is going to talk unless there's an adult in the room that can actually try to mend fences."
Tiger Woods has praised Rory McIlroy for being vocal in his support for the PGA Tour amidst the controversy surrounding the LIV Golf Tour. "Of course it can happen under my leadership," Norman explained. "I mean, Tiger might be a messenger, right? Who knows. All I know is we are going to keep doing what we're doing with LIV, and we are just going to keep moving forward." In fact, the two-time major winner and World Golf Hall of Famer says he is doing a stellar job running LIV. "No matter where I go in the world, nobody - not one person - has said what I'm doing is stupid or wrong," Norman said.
McIlroy Details Norman Rift, Garcia Fallout
McIlroy, meanwhile, has said his rift with Norman began in February 2020 when talk first surfaced about a "Premier Golf League" backed by Saudi money. McIlroy was the first top player to say he wasn't interested, adding he wanted to be on the right side of history. He referenced a moment when Arnold Palmer stood up for the PGA Tour against Norman's proposed World Golf Tour in 1994. Palmer's words put a quick end to it. "He (Norman) wasn't happy, and we had a pretty testy back-and-forth and he was very condescending. Maybe one day you'll understand' and all this (stuff)," McIlroy said in an interview with the Sunday Independent in Ireland. Then in April this year, McIlroy watched an ESPN documentary on Norman's collapse to lose the 1996 Masters and was moved enough to send Norman a message that included, "Hopefully it reminds everyone of what a great golfer you were." McIlroy said Norman had sent him a touching note after McIlroy lost a four-shot lead in the final round of the 2011 Masters. Tiger Woods described Rory McIlroy as a 'true leader' following his calls for Greg Norman to quit as LIV Golf CEO to allow a settlement to be negotiated in golf’s civil war.
"He was great," McIlroy said. "So I said to him, 'Watching it reminded me of how you reached out to me in 2011, and I just want to say that I'll always appreciate it. I know our opinion on the game of golf right now is very different, but I just wanted you to know that and wish you all the best.' "So, a bit of an olive branch, and he came back to be straightaway: I really think golf can be a force for good around the world. ... I know our opinions are not aligned but I'm just trying to create more opportunities for every golfer around the world."
#livgolf #gregnorman #tigerwoods #rorymcilroy #pga #pgatourPhil Mickelson Controversy Says LIV Golf Is The Rise & PGA Tour is Trending Downward.Golf Probe2023-01-23 | Phil Mickelson says LIV on rise and PGA Tour trending downward. Back in Saudi Arabia for the first time since his disparaging remarks about the source of LIV Golf's funding, Phil Mickelson said Thursday he was glad he was on the "winning side" and that he sees the PGA Tour trending downward, and he also denied doing the notorious interview with writer Alan Shipnuck. Mickelson had said a month ago that while the PGA Tour had all the best players in the world for the past 20 to 30 years, that would never be the case again. He came out even stronger in a news conference for the LIV Golf Invitational-Jeddah, which starts Friday at Royal Greens in King Abdullah Economic City. "I think going forward you have to pick a side. You have to pick what side do you think is going to be successful. And I firmly believe that I'm on the winning side of how things are going to evolve and shape in the coming years for professional golf," Mickelson said. "We play against a lot of the best players in the world on LIV and there are a lot of the best players in the world on the PGA Tour. And ... until both sides sit down and have a conversation and work something out, both sides are going to continue to change and evolve. And I see LIV Golf trending upwards, I see the PGA Tour trending downwards and I love the side that I'm on." In an interview with Shipnuck, who published an unauthorized biography of Mickelson in May, the six-time major champion referred to the Saudis as "scary motherf---ers to get involved with." "We know they killed [Washington Post reporter Jamal] Khashoggi and have a horrible record on human rights. They execute people over there for being gay. Knowing all of this, why would I even consider it? Because this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to reshape how the PGA Tour operates," Mickelson is quoted as saying. The interview was published two weeks after Mickelson played in the Saudi International at Royal Greens. Mickelson issued a statement after the interview saying his comments were off the record and shared without context. On Thursday he said, "I never did an interview with Alan Shipnuck. And I find that my experience with everybody associated with LIV Golf has been nothing but incredibly positive and I have the utmost respect for everybody that I've been involved with." Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau were among several major champions Saudi-funded LIV Golf signed to contracts reported to be in the $125 million range. LIV Golf currently has 12 of the top 50 players in the world ranking -- British Open champion Cameron Smith at No. 2 is the highest, while the majority of them are outside the top 25 because LIV Golf hasn't received world ranking points since it began in June. The PGA Tour still has a majority of the current stars -- 19 of the top 20 -- and starts a new schedule in 2023 that will bring the best players together some 15 times a year playing for $20 million prize funds. These are some of the changes Mickelson wanted all along. The PGA Tour has suspended him and other members who signed with LIV Golf, which is the main plaintiff in an antitrust lawsuit scheduled for a January 2024 trial. LIV Golf has 48-man fields with no cut over 54 holes playing for $25 million each week. Dustin Johnson already has made over $30 million, including an $18 million bonus for clinching the individual points race. Mickelson was seen as a chief recruiter for LIV Golf leader Greg Norman, and it was his comments in February that slowed the inaugural year of LIV Golf. This summer has made clear the big divide in golf, with the PGA Tour and European tour wanting no part of anyone who has signed to play with LIV Golf. The U.S. Open and British Open had allowed LIV Golf players to compete if they were eligible, though both organizations spoke out against the rival league. The Royal & Ancient asked Norman not to take part in the 150th anniversary celebration at St. Andrews in July. Mickelson said golf is "very lucky" to have Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund invest in the sport. Along with enormous money paid to LIV Golf players and purses, it has invested $300 million in the Asian Tour. "Now the United States and the U.K. are not favorable to this," Mickelson said. "But everywhere outside in the world, LIV Golf is loved. Ian Poulter's love affair with the Ryder Cup might be over. The outspoken Englishman said Tuesday that it's no guarantee he would play for Europe in the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome if he does manage to qualify. "I would love to qualify. Whether I play or not would be a different thing," the LIV Golf player told reporters ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. But his standing for this year's competition is in jeopardy because of his allegiance to the Saudi-backed LIV tour.
#henrikstenson #philmickelson #livgolf #livgolftourViktor Hovland Joining LIV GolfGolf Probe2023-01-21 | Viktor Hovland Joining LIV Golf.
Viktor Hovland is one of the players who decided to raise his voice in the fight against LIV Golf. With LIV Golf trying to get points but not doing well at the moment, Hovland commented on their attempts; "I don't know all the different regulations and how difficult it is to get World Ranking points. I just think at the end of the day, if you want to get World Ranking points, you obviously have to follow the process. "- he said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com Viktor believes that LIV Golf leaders and players must earn points and that the process must take time. "They're obviously making an effort to get those points, but I don't think it's right to give them an exemption to just get points overnight. They obviously have to follow the process, whatever the process might be."
LIV Golfers There are many LIV Golfers who were once part of the PGA Tour and were at the very top of the rankings. This time things are much more difficult for them, but OWGR also has to think about how much they will benefit from it. "At the same time, they have some really good players over there and if some of those players drops outside the top-100 in the world, that's not good for the World Rankings, either. So I don't really know what the right answer is, but you can't just make up new rules as you go." LIV Golf CEO and Commissioner Greg Norman spoke about similar things a month ago. However, OWGR does not make quick decisions. "It makes OWGR look obsolete if they don’t [accept LIV]. If they wake up at the end of the year and Dustin Johnson is 102 in the world, is that not a laughing stock to the OWGR? There’s two ways they can go: they can either fold, or they include LIV into OWGR”. A Norwegian professional golfer, Viktor Hovland, wanted a different schedule than the tight schedule of the PGA for the 2023 season. The PGA tour announced changes earlier this year due to the existence of LIV. As more and more players left PGA to join the Saudi-backed circuit, Jay Monahan started looking at LIV as a threat, and therefore, he announced enhancements. The changes in the PGA tour also include an increment in the number of events that a golfer has to play annually. Even top players committed to playing 20+ events. However, Monahan also introduced other perks and benefits, along with increased purse for PIP. Even though the financial benefits increased, some golfers, including Hovland, seem unhappy. How does Viktor Hovland feel about the changes in PGA tour schedules? The Norwegian golfer accepted that it would be hard to fulfill his duties to compete in all the prestigious events during the 2023 season. Next season is a Ryder Cup year; in addition to the tour’s events, he made remarks before the Hero World Challenge. Hovland understands the idea of improving the PGA Tour’s product. However, he doesn’t want to be compelled to compete in up to 25 events annually. He wants to have freedom. He appreciated LIV for that freedom. However, there is no news of him joining the Saudi-backed circuit. ‘Don’t Think It Was a Bad Year for Golf’: PGA Loyalist Jon Rahm Believes Players Should Be ‘Thankful’ for the Arrival of LIV Golf. The pro wants to be part of the event but wants the freedom to make his choices; he disapproves of playing all the events as a necessity. According to him, even for playing the Ryder Cup, LIV golfers have to play certain events. He believes that the approach was better than PGA’s schedule. To play a few events as an eligibility to be part of the Ryder Cup. “Now, I might do that in a certain year, but I think being essentially forced to do so is not how I would like to have my career look in the future,” said Hovland. The comments of Hovland came after the recent statement by Jon Rahm. He supported his old friend Phil Mickelson by saying that PGA golfers should be thankful for LIV. Because if LIV did not exist, the perks introduced by PGA, along with an increased purse, would have never happened. However, the winner of the 2018 U.S. Amateur denied commenting on whether LIV players should get to play at Ryder. What are the plans for PGA? After the statement by the pro golfer Rahm, Tiger Woods called an emergency LIV meeting. Woods and McIlroy have been the biggest supporter of the PGA. However, all the golfers from the meeting have denied revealing any information about it. But the tour star, Justin Thomas, shared his beliefs. According to him, former number one, Woods, and current number one, McIlroy, are doing something solid to ensure a more robust American circuit in the long term. The former golfer-turned-media star married athletic trainer Steven Tinoco in 2018. 'BULLYING': Greg Norman blasts PGA Tour amid $2 billion golf war 'NEVER SEEN THIS': Golf world goes bonkers over 'insane' scenes, However Spiranac has provided little details about the relationship in the years since, with fans convinced that the pair are no longer together. In a Q&A with fans on Instagram this week, Spiranac finally addressed the issue. “I do get this question a lot so I do want to address it. I was married,” Spiranac said. “I am no longer married and if you could just respect my privacy it would mean a lot to me.” Speaking in 2018, the 28-year-old said: “I met him at the start of my career, so we have done this entire thing together. “He is so understanding and knows this is a business for me. “He will say, ‘Hey, show a little more cleavage’.” Spiranac also revealed on her popular podcast Playing a Round why she is so secretive about her relationship status. “I get this question a lot, and I refuse to answer that and I have my reason,” Spiranac said in 2020. “I think a lot of people think I don’t talk about it because of my business, and if I say that I’m with someone or I’m married, then I’ll lose male followers, and that’s actually not the case. “I am so open and honest about everything in my life, as you guys can tell from the podcast, that I want something to myself, and having a public relationship is very difficult, and as soon as you make it public, you’re giving everyone the right to ask questions and you have to then answer them. “If I do post about it, and I end up breaking up with that person, I then have to talk about the break-up cause I owe that to everyone because I made my relationship public. “Also, it’s just people tend to get involved, and I don’t like that. "When a big milestone has happened in my life, it’s always turned into something that is not joyous anymore because people comment on it and they turn it into something that’s it not, and so I just want to leave my relationship and my family and things that are really, really, really important to me out of it.” Spiranac’s podcast became a global hit among fans who didn't have any golf to watch during the pandemic. She has previously revealed a horrifying ordeal in which an explicit photo of her was shared online, as well as taking aim at the ‘elitist’ male culture in golf. She also opened up about her many failed attempts to find love, saying men would ‘take advantage’ of her for golf tips. “I would always open up a conversation with, ‘Hey I play golf’ and anything along those lines and I thought that it would work,” Spiranac said. “Unfortunately, guys were using me for golf lessons, golf equipment and golf balls." The 28-year-old stepped away from professional golf to focus on her media career and anti-bullying charity work. She is an ambassador for Cybersmile - educating young people about the dangers of cyber-bullying. On Friday, the 29-year-old golf influencer took to Instagram and Twitter to share the same photo of herself wearing a sultry Santa dress. “Happy Holidays!” she wrote in her caption. Fans flooded the comments of her posts, sending Spiranac Christmas wishes and compliments galore, the NY Post reports. Spiranac, who boasts 3.7 million followers on Instagram, also shared the Christmas-themed post to her story, adding a festive border with animated lights and holly. Earlier this month, Spiranac revealed in a Q&A on Instagram that 2023 has been her “best year yet,” despite dealing with impostor syndrome and self-confidence issues. When asked how she keeps herself mentally grounded through fame, Spiranac — who landed the cover of this year’s Maxim “Hot 100” issue — said she is always doubting herself. “This question is funny because it’s actually such the opposite where I have people in my life trying to build me up and make me more confident because I have self-confidence issues and impostor syndrome,” Spiranac said. “And so all of this that I do is actually quite hard for me because I have no confidence and I’m always doubting myself or talking down on myself, so everyone’s like, ‘stop doing that.’” Spiranac added that she’s her own toughest critic, but had “done so much work in therapy to be happy and feel fulfilled in life.” That came after the social media star took to her YouTube channel in October to address body-shaming comments on her social media.

For the time being, the bulk of the best players in the world have remained faithful to the PGA Tour, but if the two competitors are able to resolve their current disputes in 2023, expect a large number of star players to join Norman and co.
Next prediction - We might well have a Liv Major Champion. LIV Golf may be dominated by relative has-beens, but it does boast two of the best players on the planet in Dustin Johnson and Cam Smith. It does have a few players like Brooks Koepka, Mr. Major, and a few more who can pull off a flawless week. Would Bryson DeChambeau be able to bounce back? Not in the least unlikely, it might happen. Whether it happens at the U.S. Open or the British Open, one thing is for certain: Greg Norman will treat this victory as if it were his own.
Next, it's possible that we will see a truce with PGA Tour. Will the PGA Tour and LIV ultimately put their differences aside and put an end to their protracted dispute in the New Year? This is the question on everyone's mind. Despite the fact that the sport has been tainted by the two teams' deadly rivalry and the Saudi-sponsored circuit's continued existence, it now looks like a truce will need to be reached in 2023. Augusta National's confirmation that any LIV player who qualifies for the 2023 tournament will be eligible to compete, with no banning orders in place - unlike the PGA Tour - is a huge step toward bridging the gap between golf's traditionalists and revolutionaries. The one deciding factor in finally coming to a conclusion, however, would undoubtedly have to occur after the two quarreling circuits have resolved their legal disputes filed against one another, which are expected to be heard in court in the early months of this year.
Next, let’s talk about Greg Norman’s future. The constantly controversial Greg Norman is one person who has contributed to LIV's rise. Although Norman was mostly at the forefront of all things LIV in 2022 as the circuit's CEO, the feisty Australian may have already taken on too much.
The disputed breakaway series clearly needed a leader like Norman to get things going, but now that things are flowing smoothly, the former world No. 1's future is uncertain. The two competing tours need to reach some sort of understanding in order to bring peace to the game, according to the general belief in professional golf, but many believe that this is impossible while Norman is in charge. In particular, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods have urged the Australian to step down from his position so that golf could resume some semblance of normalcy. Also, the Telegraph has reported that Saudi officials are uncertain about Norman's future, thus his status as LIV's face may soon be over.
Lastly, let’s look at World ranking recognition. The acquisition of world ranking points is an additional factor that will increase the number of players in LIV. One of the big kinks in the breakaway circuit’s armor has been competing without any world ranking points due to their lack of Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) status. And this isn't because they didn't try. LIV even co-sponsored their events with the lesser-known but OWGR-recognized MENA Tour to earn points for the world rankings. However, the ranking system rejected this proposal, but given the mounting pressure on OWGR, it appears likely that the Saudi circuit will ultimately be granted status in 2023.

Disputes over the Saudi-backed circuit have dominated the golf world, leading players like Dustin Johnson and Cameron Smith to defect from the PGA Tour for substantial sums of money. Greg Norman, the CEO of LIV, has been at the center of much of the issue, and both Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods think there is no chance of an amicable resolution as long as he is in control.
With guaranteed cash and previously unheard-of prize pools, LIV Golf, owned and supported by the Saudi Arabian government, spent hundreds of millions of dollars drawing in top competitors. Shotgun starts, no cuts, 54-hole tournaments, and a team format were among the innovations. They really took the golf world by storm. For example, Schwartzel won $4.75 million at LIV’s inaugural event at Centurion, way more than Scottie Scheffler’s $2.7 million payout for winning the 2022 Masters.
Dustin Johnson reportedly received a $150 million offer to play, while Mickelson reportedly received a $200 million offer just to compete in the league. Those amounts are for participation, and further tournament winnings for LIV Golf events could make payments to those golfers even bigger.
So in order to stop further defection, the PGA Tour made a number of changes, including raising prize money for major competitions and introducing a Monday Night Golf series in the manner of a stadium in 2024, featuring Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the hosts.
Currently, LIV players have been permanently barred from the PGA Tour, and a February court decision will decide how to treat players on the DP World Tour like Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter. There have been rumors that players might also be barred from golf's four major tournaments, though the absence of world ranking points for the LIV events means qualification will start to become an issue. Currently ranked 65th, Bryson DeChambeau was sixth in the world at the end of 2021.
On August 3, Mickelson, DeChambeau, and nine other LIV players sued the PGA Circuit in a federal antitrust action, alleging that the tour had conspired with the four major championships to ban LIV golfers from participating in the sport's most significant competitions. Lawyers for the LIV golfers claimed in the complaint that Ridley had been working for the PGA Tour secretly.
Representatives of Augusta National allegedly "threatened to disinvite players from The Masters if they joined LIV Golf," according to the complaint. It claimed that Ridley "personally instructed" competitors last year not to switch to LIV Golf and that he refused to meet with Norman to go through the finances of the new circuit.
However, the Masters presents a slightly different situation because a smaller field is invited as a result of multiple criteria, giving Augusta National more freedom in their decision-making.
So, Chairman Fred Ridley has now confirmed that LIV players eligible to tee it up at the first major of 2023 will not be banned from doing so in April. Tournament chair Fred Ridley said in his statement: “We have reached a seminal point in the history of our sport, at Augusta National, we have faith that golf, which has overcome many challenges through the years, will endure again.” (Link)
At the moment, the controversial Saudi-backed LIV Golf already has 16 players eligible for the 2023 Masters, including six past green jacket winners: Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, and Charl Schwartzel.
World No. 3 Cam Smith, who left the PGA Tour for LIV after winning the Players Championship and British Open, , who meets the requirement of having won the U.S. Open or PGA Championship within the previous five years, are other LIV players who have already qualified for the Masters.Tiger Woods Tells Greg Norman to F*&OK Off Over LIV Golf PGA Tour Fights. The game of golf experienced a major transformation in 2022. The launch of LIV Golf brought a civil war among the world of golfers. Some people choose to play on the Breakaway Tour, while others stuck with the PGA Tour. And now, the most prestigious name in golf, Tiger Woods, has decided to turn against LIV Golf even though practically every top player defected and joined the Saudi-backed tour. And if the predictions come true, he might be the reason the recently founded Tour will soon disband.
Let's first analyze the financial condition of the Tour before talking about what Wood has said about LIV, and why Woods continuing on the American Tour is a concern for LIV Golf. LIV Golf is presently preparing for its second season In order to launch in 2023 and beyond. However, the inaugural season was no short of an attraction. The Tour managed to grab more attention on the headlines and prize money, then on the course. In early 2021, a financial project named ‘Project Wedge’ was brought to light by the Public Investment Fund in Saudi Arabia.
The oil-rich Middle Eastern Country approved the idea to become the new head of golf. However, after the inaugural campaign, which cost more than $750 million, even the financial consultancy firm recommended a different outcome than what was initially promised. The Greg Norman-led Tour made it obvious that the LIV Golf was no laughing stock. They quickly moved to sign some of the biggest names in the game, including Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, and Phil Mickelson, to mention a few, and the Neve Tour aimed to sign at least 12 of the sport's biggest names, as per management's goal.
Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are unquestionably the most popular golfers in the last decade. Considering that every top golfer has been offered a LIV Golf contract, Woods was of course also approached about joining the Breakaway Tour. The decision of the 15-time Major champion would alter the course of golf. As the sport's biggest name, rumors circulated that Woods would be offered a LIV Golf contract. However, LIV CEO Greg Norman doubled down on the rumors, claiming Tiger turned down a $800 million offer from them.
Woods addressed what is needed to help build a relationship between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour during a news conference in the Bahamas during the Hero World Challenge golf event.
Wood said: “I think Greg (Norman) has to go, first of all, and then obviously the litigation against us and then our countersuit against them. Those would then have to be at a stay as well, so then we can talk. We can all talk freely.” (Link)
Woods was asked if he believes the two organizations can coexist. And he said not right now. He said that it doesn't seem likely, at least not under their direction. Not with Greg Norman still there and his utter contempt for the tour itself.
Though his refusal was a huge loss for the Breakaway Tour, he would eventually become the PGA Tour's voice in the war against their nemesis. Tiger is currently preparing to launch a golf league called TGL with fellow PGA Tour regular Rory McIlroy, which will begin in January 2024. The league will be run under the umbrella of the PGA Tour.
But will the formation of TGL and the refusal of a 15-time Major winner be enough to bring LIV Golf down? According to 'Project Wedge' projections, the Saudi-backed Tour could earn $1.4 billion per year by 2028. But for that possibility to occur, the Tour needs to sign further top names, attract more sponsors, and land a huge television deal.
However, with plundering viewership and a failure to sell tickets at their golf tournaments, LIV Golf is struggling to rely on revenue rather than the PIF. The $1.4 billion each year comes under the positive scenario. However, if the Tour fails to meet its objectives, it will incur a massive loss of $355 million each year.
Signing Tiger Woods could have changed that scenario because he is still the sport's biggest name. Despite barely competing in professional events, he recently retained the top spot in the Player Impact Program rankings.

Golf definitely had a very fascinating year in 2022. The past year was filled with disputes, legal battles, suspensions and a lot of money. Despite all the drama though, LIV Golf may have just been what the sport desperately needed.
Now since the Saudi funded circuit circuit parked its tanks on the PGA yard, we have seen digs hurled back and forth between the 2 yards. But despite all their gibes, the PGA tour loyalists should actually be thanking the rebels and their evolution. Why? Stick around to find out.

Tiger Woods come back to competitions following an almost fatal fatal car accident in February 2021 attracted a lot of attention and was the talk of the town at the time at the time.
