For step by step Egress Black Edition / Avante chassis build: youtu.be/pg_sFgSaTLATamiya T3-01 Dancing Rider | Tribute | タミヤダンシングライダー (T3-01シャーシ)T-StudioWorks2026-08-30 | The Tamiya T3-01 is a unique 1/8-scale, three-wheeled R/C chassis designed for fun and dynamic “leaning” cornering. There are two versions, with this being the Dancing Rider, officially released on 23 December 2017. Its design is inspired by real Japanese delivery trikes. The chassis consists of two sections connected by a center link. The front houses the R/C electronics and battery, while the rear contains the motor and integrated gearbox.
A steering servo tilts the front section left and right, allowing the trike to lean naturally into corners. Self-righting support arms also help bring it upright if it tips over.
Power comes from a rear-mounted Type 370 brushed motor, driving the rear wheel(s) through a planetary gear system.
Both versions of the T3-01 chassis, the Dancing Rider and Dual Rider are still available. The T3-01 is great fun to build and drive. A truly unique and entertaining design from Tamiya.
Check out the official Tamiya running video using the link below. Great work, Tamiya!
The Tamiya F103GT Advan Courage LC70 Mugen is a distinctive radio-controlled racing chassis released in Aug 2006. The F103GT platform combines the simplicity of the classic Formula 1 style F103 with the wider body options and stability of GT-class racing cars.
The Courage body variant adds an aggressive endurance-racing look inspired by real-world Le Mans-style prototypes. Its low, sleek profile and large rear wing create the appearance of a prototype endurance racer, giving a strong visual presence on the track.
This shelf queen is loaded with Tamiya ‘blue’ hopups like a TRF damper, carbon fibre top plate and aluminium motor plate. Other hop-ups includes F104 servo horn, high torque servo saver, adjustable steering arms and Sports Tuned motor.
Handling characteristics of the F103GT Courage emphasise smooth driving and precise throttle control. Since the car is rear-wheel drive, traction management becomes a key skill for drivers. A simple front suspension with kingpins and coil springs helps maintain responsive steering while keeping maintenance minimal.
Tamiya’s F104 Pro Formula 1 chassis, released in June 2009, is the successor to the hugely successful F103. When paired with the Ferrari F60 body kit, this model transforms into a visually stunning tribute to one of Ferrari’s most iconic F1 cars from the 2009 season.
Driven by Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa, it is renowned for its sleek, aggressive lines and distinctive livery. Tamiya’s attention to detail in replicating this design is exceptional, from the aerodynamic front and rear wings to the accurate sponsors and team branding decals.
The F104 re-emphasizes Tamiya’s focus on precision engineering, lightweight construction, and responsive handling, featuring a longitudinal battery layout. The carbon fiber chassis is narrow, set-up as a direct-drive 2WD, with a high-torque ball differential, and a single-shock suspension system. The car requires finesse and extensive practice to drive effectively, as it is agile and responsive.Tamiya Mazda 787B (1991) | Tribute | タミヤ マツダ 787BT-StudioWorks2025-03-29 | Item No: 58102 (Original Release 1991) 58357 (Re-release 2006) 47518 (Re-release 2025)
In March 2025, Tamiya is re-releasing the iconic Mazda 787B (in Japan only) based on the first Japanese-made car that took the overall victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991.
It is stunning in it’s fluorescent orange and green livery.
This example is a far from immaculate 33 years old runner, with scratches, cracks & peeling stickers on the polycarbonate body.
The original release kit is instantly recognisable with it’s green resin space frames. The only other Tamiya Group C chassis with green parts is the Street Devil. The 2006 & 2025 re-release will no doubt have these parts in black like all other Group C re-releases so far.
The simple Tamiya Group C ABS bathtub chassis with 1.5mm FRP T-Bar & yellow mono-shock rear suspension is fun, predictable & forgiving when driven hard.
All Group C cars received the better performing black Sport Tuned motor except the Daytona Thunder that had the even more powerful Dynatech 01R.
With the recent Mercedes C11 & Porsche 956, lets hope Tamiya rerelease the quintessential Ferrari F40 and other possible exciting models on this chassis.
Let’s enjoy the Group C revival. Thank you Tamiya!Tamiya Store Tokyo | Is New Better Than Old | Vlog 003T-StudioWorks2024-12-26 | Is New Better Than Old?
On 24th May 2024 the new flagship Tamiya Plamodel Factory store in Tokyo had it’s grand opening. This new store replaced the old which was just across the street. I was at the old store earlier in January 2024 and captured the atmosphere there before it closed. I wasn’t expecting to make this video of the old store as it’s pretty much old news. After watching so many videos of the new store, it made me question, ‘Is New Better Than Old?

This MS version is the hopped-up, top of the line version. The DF03 MS, named after 'Maezumi Satoshi' a Tamiya sponsored driver with his distinctive colour scheme was released in June 2008.
The buggy was unique being shaft driven 4WD and having a longitudinal central battery arrangement. To me, it is a development of the 1992 DF01 Top Force Evolution with beefier offset side mounted main drive shaft, updated for 2008.
Racing features include ball differentials, slipper clutch, alum dampers, centre one-way, universal drive shafts and adjustable hard turnbuckles. Durability is an issue with the buggy as it's too well packaged in thin plastics, not suiting mid-2000s race tracks with many big jumps. Batteries & motors were getting heavier and providing more power, putting more stress on the plastic bathtub, gearboxes & shock towers.
Knowing this, aftermarket upgrade parts were added to the initial build of the buggy. These included an alum centre brace, carbon fibre & alum shock towers, stronger rear diff joints and titanium hex screws. Aluminium steering wipers and bridge were also added to help fix durability issues.
The outcome is beautifully stunning old school with splashes of carbon fibre and Tamiya 'Blue' aluminium. The stickers to produce the striking Maezumi Satoshi colour scheme was tricky to apply but easier than painting from scratch.
It's been 15 years since I initially started to built this kit and it still brings a quiet smile when I admire the design & engineering. Thank you again Tamiya!

Then it was re-released in 2005 & 2017. It carried on from the Avante series of cars with it's distinctive futuristic single sweep line body. It introduced Tamiya's Star Dish Wheels that are still common today. It replaced the DF01 plastic bathtub chassis with a double deck Fibre Glass Reinforced (FRP) chassis. The differential gears & shaft driven 4WD is efficient but is limited in gearing & lacks a slipper clutch compared to modern buggies. This iconic buggy culminated with the Top-Force Evolution with every hop-up imaginable for this chassis.

It’s a fantastic build experience and will drive like a standard Egress as it shares all the parts. I’ve added my own flavour with the iconic custom brushless Sport Tuned motor. It stands out on my shelf. Also looks great as a new in box with it’s blister pack presentation. It certainly is better in the flesh. The only thing I would change is to have silver / chrome instead of the matt grey wheels. Then again I think the Tamiya designers intended this to be subtle & classy.

The original was released in 1991. This re-release has certainly made it better, more durable to accept brushless motors and LiPo batteries. I enjoyed building the Super Astute, it’s an easy old school build, very Tamiya with lots of heavy metal bushings in the suspension. Similar in layout to a modern rear motor buggy, being simple yet complicated at the same time. Luv it!!!
