Arteta discussed Arsenal's discipline with 18 reds across his tenure, saying:
"I think there are really two different periods when we used to have a lot and then not any. And then obviously we have three in a row. I don't know what is little in five years, but it is something that we have to avoid for sure."
Arteta also discussed the affect of wider Champions League group, of having many chances to go through, saying:
"We look at the games that we have and how tough they end up that we have to face and the importance of winning at home."
"Tomorrow is a day that we really have to show, you know, that determination, that quality, and that in the Champions League, the margins are so small."
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has warned that his team have to "eradicate" picking up red cards if they are to challenge for trophies this season.
Arsenal slipped to a 2-0 English Premier League defeat at Bournemouth on Saturday, when defender William Saliba was shown a controversial red card in the first half.
It was Arsenal's first defeat of the season and only their second league loss of the calendar year.
The north London team remain third in the table, four points off leaders Liverpool, but more worryingly for Arteta, have now collected three red cards in their last eight league games – against Brighton, Manchester City and now Bournemouth - without winning any of those matches.
Arsenal have the chance to get themselves back on track against Shakhtar - Arteta's side have impressed in Europe so far, beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in the last round of games after a 0-0 draw away at Atalanta.
Shakhtar, meanwhile, have yet to score in their two Champions League fixtures away to Bologna and at home to Atalanta - but come to London on the back of successive wins in the Ukrainian Premier League, where they sit fourth after nine games.
League phase leaders Borussia Dortmund trained ahead of hosting Real Madrid in Matchday three of the Champions League on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga side have collected six points out two matches after thrashing Celtic 7-1 and beating Club Brugge 3-0.
Now they host title holders Real Madrid in a repeat of last season's Champions League final.
Real Madrid sit in 17th place in the standings with just three points after beating Stuttgart 3-1 but losing against Lille 1-0.
Ancelotti discussed their opponents Dortmund how they have evolved since the CL final last season, with the new coach this season. He said:
"Borussia has changed, definitely, But the team keeps the same idea of football: they're intense, they play well, they have great quality, individually and as a group."
He was also asked about what he demands from Kylian Mbappe saying
"I prefer him scoring goals than him creating pressure for the rival. I demand from Mbappé exactly the same that I demanded from Karim: he must be well positioned and ready everytime we get the ball."

Stefano Pioli's side are unbeaten in their last 10 games and continue to push up the Saudi Pro League standings after a 2-1 victory over Al-Shabab on Friday.
The last time these two sides met was in May 2011 where two second-half goals from Farhad Majidi and Hawar Mulla Mohammed earned Esteghlal a 2-1 comeback victory.
Just a point separates the two sides in Group B with Al Hilal top of the AFC Champions League group standings.
The game will see LeBron James tie Vince Carter by playing in a 22nd NBA season — and potentially mark the first official game where a father and son are teammates, with Bronny James entering his rookie season.
J.J. Reddick will made his debut as head coach for the Lakers Redick replaces Darvin Ham, who was fired despite leading Los Angeles to two playoff berths and a Western Conference finals appearance in 2023.

Xu Jie played a key role in their comeback victory by scoring a joint game-high 22 points with Xinjiang's Q.J. Peterson.
The Lynx were seconds away from a record fifth WNBA championship with perhaps a WNBA Finals MVP award waiting for Collier, whose flurry late in regulation had her team in the lead in the final minute.
They couldn’t hold on.
The New York Liberty rallied for a 67-62 victory in overtime, denying the Lynx what would have been a WNBA-record fifth championship.
Collier, the runner-up to unanimous MVP A’ja Wilson in the regular season, scored 22 points before having to watch the final seconds from the bench after fouling out of a game Minnesota seemed poised to win just a few minutes earlier.
Like coach Cheryl Reeve, who said the game was “stolen” from the Lynx, she was frustrated with officiating and felt she was being held on some occasions, though credited the Liberty for making adjustments.
The Lynx controlled the first half but had fallen into a 56-52 hole on Sabrina Ionescu’s 3-pointer with 3:10 remaining. Then Collier, who started strong, got going again. She had Minnesota’s next three baskets, with her drive past Breanna Stewart giving the Lynx a 60-58 edge with 1:04 to go.
But Minnesota wouldn’t score again until New York had scored the next seven points, tying it on Stewart’s free throws with 5.2 seconds left and going ahead 65-60 in the extra period.
Collier finished with seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal. The WNBA’s Defensive Player of the Year played all but 35 seconds of the 45-minute game, and most of what she missed is because she committed the foul to stop the clock with 13 seconds remaining in OT.
It was clearly a fantastic season for the forward, who averaged 20.4 points and 9.7 rebounds in her sixth year out of UConn. She also won a gold medal with the U.S. Olympic team and helped the Lynx notch a franchise-record 30 wins and earn the No. 2 seed.
It’s been that kind of year for the big-spending Dodgers. When Ohtani isn’t amazing with his power at the plate and prowess on the basepaths, someone else is stepping up.
Edman and Will Smith homered to send Ohtani into the World Series for the first time, and the Dodgers eliminated the New York Mets with a 10-5 victory in Game 6 of the NL Championship Series on Sunday night. Los Angeles opens the World Series against the New York Yankees on Friday.
“I really feel like we finally arrived, I finally arrived at this stage,” Ohtani said through a translator. “A lot of the games we played were really tough and hard to win, and it was truly a team effort to get here.”
The Dodgers clinched their record 25th NL pennant, their fourth in eight years and first won at home since beating the Mets over seven games in 1988. They moved on to their 22nd World Series — 13th in Los Angeles — and first since 2020, when they beat Tampa Bay during the pandemic-delayed season.
Next up for Ohtani and Co. is Aaron Judge and the Yankees, back in the World Series for the 41st time and first in 15 years. The matchup, which opens at Dodger Stadium, features the top two home-run hitters in Judge (58) and Ohtani (54).
It’ll be the 12th time the franchises meet in the World Series and the first in 43 years. The Yankees have beaten the Dodgers eight times, while the Dodgers’ three championships against the Bronx Bombers came in 1955, 1963 and 1981.
“It’s the place that I’ve dreamt of playing all my life,” Ohtani said, “and to be able to finally come to this stage and be able to play and hopefully win it is my next goal.”
Playing his first season with the Dodgers after agreeing to a record $700 million, 10-year contract as a free agent, Ohtani had two hits and scored two runs in Game 6. He hit .364 with two homers and six RBIs in the NLCS.
The Dodgers, who were eliminated in the Division Series the previous two years, spent a combined $1 billion last winter to sign Ohtani and pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto to lucrative long-term contracts in hopes of winning the franchise’s eighth World Series title.
The team that always fell short, starting from their days in Madison Square Garden, through detours to Radio City Music Hall and Westchester County Center, finally found their way to the top.
Start spreading the news, indeed: There’s finally a pro basketball champion in New York again after a 67-62 overtime win over Minnesota in Game 5 of the WNBA Finals on Sunday night.
“I’ve been manifesting this moment for awhile, There’s no feeling like it,” Breanna Stewart said. “Credit to Minnesota, they gave us a tough series. The fans have been amazing everywhere we’ve gone. To bring a championship to New York, first ever in franchise history it’s an incredible feeling. I can’t wait to continue to celebrate with the city. It’s going to be bonkers.”
Jonquel Jones scored 17 points to lead New York, which was one of the original franchises in the league. The Liberty made the WNBA Finals five times before, losing each one, including last season. This time they wouldn’t be denied, although it took an extra five minutes.
With stars Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu struggling on offense, other players stepped up. Leonie Fiebich started off OT with a 3-pointer, and then Nyara Sabally, who finished with 13 points, had a steal for a layup to make it 65-60 and bring the sellout crowd to a frenzied state.
“Whoever scores in overtime first usually wins,” Liberty coach Sandy Brondello said.
Minnesota didn’t score in OT until Kayla McBride hit two free throws with 1:51 left. The Lynx missed all six of their field goal attempts in overtime. After Ionescu missed a shot with 21 seconds left, her 18th miss on 19 shot attempts, the Lynx had one last chance, but Bridget Carleton missed a 3-pointer with 16 seconds left.
"I hadn't studied Moregard's matches closely before, but during the Olympics, especially his singles final against Fan & the team event, I took the time to break down his game. His tactical skills are impressive, and I was surprised by how good he is," said the veteran.
"Looking back at the times I’ve played him, I realized he’s not just naturally talented like people think. He excels in mental games. Since our styles are similar, playing like him inspired me to hit shots that unsettled my opponents. His unpredictable style throws his opponents off-balance, and learning from his techniques gave me a fresh perspective in this tournament."

“I really feel like we finally arrived. I finally arrived at this stage,” Ohtani said through a translator after Sunday night’s 10-5 win over the New York Mets finished the NL Championship Series in six games.
Ohtani hit .364 with two homers, six RBIs, nine walks and a 1.184 OPS against the Mets, including two hits and an RBI in Game 6. He’s batting .286 with three homers and 10 RBIs over 11 games in his first postseason heading into the World Series starting Friday against the New York Yankees.
When he signed his record $700 million, 10-year contract last December, Ohtani agreed to defer $68 million annually to give the team payroll flexibility. The Dodgers signed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, traded for pitcher Tyler Glasnow and signed outfielder Teoscar Hernández, among other moves.
“The goal was to get to this far,” Ohtani said, “and I also pictured myself getting this far with the contract that I’ve signed.”
Not pitching this year as he recovered from elbow surgery, Ohtani hit .310 with NL bests of 54 homers and 130 RBIs along with 59 stolen bases to become the first 50-50 player. He is likely to win his first NL MVP award after a pair of AL MVPs.
Ohtani is 18 for his last 23 RISP going back to his 10-RBI game on Sept. 19 when he became the first 50-50 player. He had an 0-for-22 stretch with no runners on base.
“There’s nothing in particular that I changed,” Ohtani said. “Obviously when there’s situations, I do change how I swing. But in terms of my approach, I’ve been continuing with my approach the whole time. I do think a part of it is it’s just a small sample size.”

The Red Devils ended a concerning five-match winless run at Old Trafford on Saturday having fallen behind to an Ethan Pinnock header as the Bees capitalised on Matthijs de Ligt's temporary absence due to a head wound.
United used that sense of injustice as fuel as Alejandro Garnacho's fantastic volley and a cool Rasmus Hojlund finish secured a 2-1 Premier League victory that eases pressure on the manager.
It was an important win but not one that under-fire Ten Hag is overblowing as attention turns to Thursday's match in Turkey, where they will try to kickstart their Europa League campaign against Fenerbahce.

The goal was originally ruled out, with Bernardo Silva in an offside position, but referee Chris Kavanagh overturned the decision after viewing the pitchside monitor and deeming the playmaker not to be interfering.
It was another marginal call which went against Wolves, who led a campaign for VAR to be scrapped over the summer, leaving them with just one point from their opening eight games.
City boss Pep Guardiola agreed with the decision however.
"At the moment the linesman raised the flag, I said, 'It's a corner, how can it be offside?'
The decision falling in City's favour helped get them out of jail as they had laboured against a well-drilled and compact Wolves side.

"We need to be honest If I thought last year Al Hilal was the better team in Asia, now they are even better," said the Al Ain coach.
Al Ain's previous success against Al Hilal in the semi-finals last season, where they won 4-2 at home, will surely give them confidence heading into this match.
Despite their mixed results in this year’s AFC Champions League, including a draw against Al Sadd and a loss to Al Gharafa, Al Ain still has the potential to perform well on home ground at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Hilal, on the other hand, will be looking for redemption after their semi-final exit last season.
