Huddersfield Walk Through (24.7.24) (4K,HDR)

West Yorkshire Traveller 2024-08-19 | Join me on a trip to Huddersfield, This video was done soon after the video I did in Holmfirth. I have also done a video in Huddersfield before. I will link this at the end of the video.

The town is known for its industrial heritage, particularly in textiles and engineering. The Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the town and is a popular attraction for boaters and walkers. The Victoria Tower on Castle Hill, a prominent landmark, was built in honor of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

Huddersfield is a town situated in West Yorkshire in the North of England. Places close by include Brighouse, Sowerby Bridge, Leeds, Manchester and Burnley. Huddersfield is a large market town and is actually in the borough of Kirklees.It's not far to the Pennines from here. It is a town that was a big mill town in the industrial revolution.

Holmfirth, Last of the summer wine Location (4K,HDR)

West Yorkshire Traveller 2024-08-12 | Holmfirth was known for the Last of the Summer wine for many year’s (and still has many visitors flocking to see Sid’s Cafe) but now is a fabulous place to be for “music and events”, exploring the area on foot or bike, and even has it’s own Vineyard!

The town is bustling with smart shops, boutiques, pubs and restaurants, while stone-built cottages and houses seem to cling to the steep sides of the valley, some reached by cobbled streets.

Holmfirth was the principal location of TV's longest-run comedy series Last Of The Summer Wine and tourists visiting the town still head for Sid's Cafe, Nora Batty's steps or take a scenic trip around some of the other famous locations.

Holmfirth is a small town located in the Holme Valley, in the county of West Yorkshire, England. It is situated in the foothills of the Pennines, a range of hills and mountains that runs across the north of England. The town is located on the A6024 road and is approximately 20 miles northwest of the city of Sheffield and 10 miles south of the town of Huddersfield.

Holmfirth is known for its picturesque location and its natural beauty. The town is situated in a valley, with the Holme Brook running through it and the Holme Valley extending out from it. The surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills, woodland, and fields, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

The town has a rich history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. Holmfirth has a number of historic buildings, including the Holmfirth Methodist Church, which was built in 1773, and the Holmfirth Civic Hall, which was built in 1895. The Holmfirth Picture House, a historic cinema, is also located in the town.

Holmfirth was first famous for film-making much earlier than this. Back in the early 1900s, even before Hollywood, Bamforth & Co were behind pioneering film-making work, but later became better known for their saucy seaside postcards.

The town hosts a Folk Festival in May and also a two-week Arts Festival in June, featuring art, music, theatre and performance from local and national talent.

It is located on the Irish Sea coast of the Fylde peninsula, approximately 27 miles (43 km) north of Liverpool and 14 miles (23 km) west of Preston. It is the main settlement in the borough of the same name. The population of Blackpool at the 2021 census was 141,000, a decrease of 1,100 in ten years.[1]

Blackpool was originally a small hamlet; it began to grow in the mid-eighteenth century, when sea bathing for health purposes became fashionable. Blackpool's beach was suitable for this activity, and by 1781 several hotels had been built. The opening of a railway station in the 1846 allowed more visitors to reach the resort, which continued to grow for the remainder of the nineteenth century. In 1876, the town became a borough, and by 1951 its population had reached 147,000. Blackpool's development was closely tied to the Lancashire cotton-mill practice of annual factory maintenance shutdowns, known as wakes weeks, when many workers chose to visit the seaside.

Knaresborough Markets (17.7.24) (4K,HDR)

West Yorkshire Traveller 2024-07-19 | There are plenty of things to do in Knaresborough all year round. The marketplace in the centre of the town offers a great place to enjoy a cup of tea or something delicious and home baked. On a Wednesday stalls fill the marketplace offering tasty produce, whole foods, plants and flowers, as well as pretty much anything else you can imagine, in the ever-popular Knaresborough Market.

At the base of the cliffs on which the town sits, you will find a delightful promenade that traps the sun in summer, with a coastal feel despite being m ore than 60 miles from the sea making a great place to enjoy an ice-cream or indulge in the tradition English pastime of ‘simply mucking about in boats’.

Day out in Leeds (11.5.24) (4K, HDR)

West Yorkshire Traveller 2024-05-12 | Decided to go for a walk in Leeds City Centre, The weather was nice and so I decided why not, Leeds is a fun city for walking and shopping, packed with plenty of shops and places to eat. There is also a new Nike store now opened at the Trinity shopping Centre which I show in this video.

The sun was setting by now and so it was great to see Leeds at night. The lights in the shops were bright and there were still plenty of Leeds people around doing their shopping and hanging out in the pubs and bars.

Leeds is a city in the northern English county of Yorkshire. On the south bank of the River Aire, the Royal Armouries houses the national collection of arms and artillery. Across the river, the redeveloped industrial area around Call Lane is famed for bars and live music venues under converted railway arches. Leeds Kirkgate Market features hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls.

Road works every where in Bradford Town Centre (18.4.24), (4K, HDR)

West Yorkshire Traveller 2024-04-18 | We visit BRADFORD near Leeds in West Yorkshire, England for a walking tour of Bradford City Centre.
This walking tour is a quick update to show you all the road works going on due to new bus routes and causing frustration to the general public.

Also opening soon is the new Darley Street shopping market.

Opposite The Wool Exchange is Charles Street so we head through this fairly new development and onto Broadway which is busy with restaurants, takeaways, The Light Cinema and coffee shops. Quite nice!
