(Child Abuse Documentary)REALWOMEN/REALSTORIES2024-10-18 | REMEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE! → bit.ly/2CwckC3 - This documentary reviewing the disappearance of Philip Cairns, a 13-year-old Dublin schoolboy who had been a first-year student at his school for just over a month when he went home during his lunch break, but never returned. The film alleges that pedophile pirate radio boss Eamon Cooke was involved in the Cairns' 1986 disappearance.
Cooke was a former radio DJ and serial pedophile who gained celebrity status in Dublin in the 1970s. He quickly became a household name among the capital’s youth after setting up a pirate pop radio station Radio Dublin from his cramped living room in Inchicore.
He always surrounded himself with children and is believed to have abused hundreds of children before he was jailed. One of the victims told the court that the abuse had started when she was around seven and continued until some time before her 11th birthday. Was Eamon Cooke Ireland's Jimmy Saville?
Since Cooke's death in 2016, he has been linked with the case of Philip Cairns and the film explains why. Cairns disappearance sparked off one of the biggest manhunts in the history of Ireland at the time, and remains one of the highest profile missing persons cases in the country.
Philip Cairns was last seen on Ballyroan Road in Rathfarnham on Thursday, October 23rd, 1986. Despite extensive searches in the aftermath of his disappearance, no trace of him was found.

The film unfolds chronologically and covers the formative years of Jim Jones' life and the birth, rise and eventual demise of the Peoples Temple. The story is told through interviews with the surviving members of the Peoples Temple, their family members and the survivors of Congressman Leo Ryan's ill-fated trip to Guyana.
In each article, TV special or book about cults, Jonestown can't be missing. The cult with the largest number of victims in recent history is something to be studied and why many people still believe in those false prophets is not exactly a mystery, but not entirely understood.
This extremely interesting documentary shows the effects of religion on society and the gullibility of people in general. The parallels and correlations between Jones and so many other religions is amazing, and one should view this documentary with a view to their own personal situation in their religion.

Postpartum depression is the most common complication of childbirth, yet it's is a condition clouded with stigma, shame and guilt for mothers who experience it.
The healthcare system to diagnose and treat maternal mental health conditions are often lacking. Obstetricians and pediatricians are often the first line of defense in screening women after birth, and since 2017, the ACOG recommendations say that OB-GYNs should screen women for depression and anxiety symptoms at least once during pregnancy. But 50% of women with postpartum depression go undiagnosed. In contrast, 99% of pregnant women are screened for gestational diabetes—a complication that occurs in less than 6% of all pregnant women.
One of the most important ways to improve mental health support for pregnant women and new mothers is to offer better training to the doctors who see them most frequently. Addressing mental health should be part of the training for OB-GYNs in a really robust way so they would feel as comfortable with postpartum depression as with pre-eclampsia.
If you're struggling with postpartum depression symptoms, don’t ignore them. Seek help. Postpartum depression almost cost Nicole Martin her life. This needs more awareness!

Breaking Silence is the definitive film on incest and child sexual abuse. Through interviews with adult survivors of incest, this chilling documentary film presents their childhood experiences of incest and confrontation with the abuser and other family members, the debilitating effects of this abuse into adulthood, and the importance of "breaking silence" as a means of mitigating the psychological damage done by incest.
Most of the adult women survivors interviewed were sexually molested by their fathers; one woman was molested by a family friend. A male survivor was molested by siblings. Drawings by children known to be incest victims (not the adults interviewed) are featured throughout the video to show the effects of incest on children's perceptions and feelings. These drawings and the memories of the adult survivors show that incest produces feelings of being trapped, powerless, betrayal, fear, and isolation. Trust in parents and the safety of the home are destroyed. Statistics on the prevalence and the perpetrators of incest are reviewed; it is widespread across all types of families and individuals.
Perpetrators are described by the victims as controlling and manipulative. One perpetrator comments on his own state of mind as that of low self-esteem and a sense of powerlessness with the people and events outside the home. Effects of incest into adulthood include inability to enjoy intimacy with another, psychosomatic effects, anger, depression, isolation, and suicidal urges. The healthful effects of breaking silence about the incest are discussed and excerpts from a school program designed to help prevent child sexual abuse are included throughout the video.
This film speaks to the heavy burden incest places on the child to struggle to be free. It celebrates the courage of that struggle so vividly. Viewing it strengthens our alliance with all children everywhere.

Lovell, a surgical assistant from San Antonio, Texas, spent most of her childhood watching her father beat her mother.
As an adult, Lovell found herself in a similar situation, which she believes was due to the abuse she saw as a young child. She didn't always get the help she needed from the system, and the scariest thing next to being in an abusive relationship was not getting out before it almost turned deadly. Farrah was almost murdered by her then-abusive ex-boyfriend, Powell Martin (Marty) Smith III.
No matter if a survivor of domestic violence and sexual abuse has endured an abusive partner for two dates or two decades, abusers have the possibility of escalating power and control into extreme violence, even murder, at any point. Homicide is one of the leading causes of death for women under age 44. Of the estimated 4,970 female victims of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter in 2021, data reported by law enforcement agencies indicate that 34% were killed by an intimate partner.
By sharing her story, Farrah Lovell is letting others know that it's possible to overcome both the trauma of domestic abuse and the injustice of the system. She is now speaking out in the hopes of helping other victims who may be going through something similar.
Watch this extremely shocking and emotional story about how Farrah Lovell overcame her abuser.

"DYING" is a personal, profound and poignant memoir of three people and how they faced their deaths from cancer.
Sally, 46, bonds with her elderly mother as they take things day to day; Bill, in his early 30s, stoically goes on while his wife loses herself in rage; grandfatherly Reverend Bryant preaches a final sermon, then goes back South one last time.
"DYING" shows the anguish of living, the desire to laugh even when it's all but impossible, the bare joy of living, joy without laughter. Direct close-ups of faces, like those of the unforgettable grandson of Reverend Bryant, designed to pull you into wholehearted quotidian terror. Three different takes on death: you can embrace the nothing (Sally the red-headed mountaineer), you can rage and curse and wish death was already here, even if it sounds monstrous (Harriet and Bill), or you can laugh and grin and make merry along the way to oblivion (Reverent Bryant—which is one of the most purely devastating segments known to U.S. documentary).
This is obviously a ridiculously strong documentary film that you must see and share.

Wright is the girl who at the age of just 15, conspired with a group of friends to murder her ex-boyfriend Seath Jackson in Summerfield, Florida, in 2011.
The teenagers began dating when they were aged 14, but broke up after they had both turned 15.
In April 2011, shortly after their break-up, Amber Wright lured Jackson to a mobile home promising by text message that they could work things out. It was on April 17, 2011, that he went to the trailer home of Wright's friend Charlie Ely, then 18.
Unknown to Jackson, Amber Wright and Charlie Ely had been joined by a group of friends - Wright's new love interest Michael Bargo, 23, her stepbrother Kyle Hooper, then 17, and a friend named Justin Soto, then 20.
Seath Jackson never made it to his 16th birthday. He was viciously ambushed by a group of boys, with their instigator murdering him in a brutal fit of rage, all before burning his body on a fire. Though Wright did not physically attack Jackson, prosecutors argued that she was just as guilty in his death.
After serving nine years at Lowell Correctional prison for women over a high-profile murder case, Charlie Ely has been released from custody in June 2020. Amber Wright, Kyle Hooper, Justin Soto are serving life sentences without the possibility of parole. Michael Bargo is still alive, waiting to be put to death. Directed and narrated by Piers Morgan.

This documentary concerns a filmmaker who was allowed to have access to a cult in New Mexico....and WHY they allowed this outside into their compound is confusing to say the least.
Michael Travesser used to be a sailor called Wayne Bent. Then he became the self-proclaimed Messiah, claiming to know the exact hour of an apocalyptic event that will mark the end of the world. You might not believe him, but dozens of people did. In fact, they relied on his every word and served him with absolute devotion.
In this remarkable film, members of Travesser's cult - the Lord Our Righteousness Church - begin preparing for death as Travesser tells them time is fast running out.
Filmmaker Ben Anthony obtains unique access to the cult's Strong City compound in New Mexico, USA, to capture the former Seventh Day Adventist minister's powerful hold over his tribe.
On December 15, 2008, jurors convicted Travesser (Wayne Bent) of one count of criminal sexual contact of a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He was acquitted of a second charge of criminal sexual contact with a minor. Bent was allowed to return to Strong City, the sect's compound near Clayton, pending sentencing. On December 30, 2008, Judge Gerald Baca imposed the maximum sentence of 18 years but suspended eight years.
Wayne Bent was paroled from prison in February 2016 after being diagnosed with a cancer that threatened the hearing in his left ear.
This documentary is well made and worth seeing. But it might also make you angry... We know it did with us. This is because the parents of one of the abused teens apparently had left the cult and left their underaged daughter in the cult. How can anyone be dumb enough to join a cult? Have they done any research before joining? Why are cult members so incredibly gullible and stupid? Why do cult members believe preposterous things?

This revealing documentary contains clandestine video footage shot at great personal risk by a North Korean known as Ahn Chol and by journalists posing as tourists. Through interviews with street children, refugees, and former prisoners, this documentary film explores the plight of youth in the last remaining Stalinist dictatorship and perhaps the most secretive state on the planet.
North Korea is very good at only showing you what they want you to see. This documentary gives you an insider's look into the many human rights crisis within this country. The first five minutes are difficult to watch as starving orphan children pick up scraps off the ground as adults push them out of the way. The footage shows what many have assumed is happening in North Korea.
Their government works so hard to hide the fact that many of their people are suffering. There is a stark contrast between the children the "Dear Leader" wants you to see and the orphaned and abused children living on the streets. The absolute disregard for human life is disgusting.
We should be thankful for Ahn Chol who risked his life to film secret video of orphans and street children in North Korea, in order to expose their desperate plight to the world. The areas he was able to film are not even open to aid workers. If you are at all interested in North Korea, you need to watch and share this film. We can't fix anything if people look away.

In her impassioned plea, Abargil highlighted the disturbing fact that even in the face of documented war crimes by Hamas-ISIS terrorists, many feminist groups remain conspicuously silent, emphasizing the urgent need for global attention and condemnation of these atrocities.
Human beings are entitled to enter and leave this world in a beautiful and peaceful manner. When Hamas-ISIS attacked Israel on October 7, they denied women that right, subjecting them to the most intimate, horrifying, and painful forms of mutilation and violence.
Imagine the last few conscious moments of those women's lives.
For years, the #MeToo founders (Alyssa Milano, Tarana Burke, Ashley Judd, Rose McGowan, among others) demanded we replace due process with "believe all women." America was convulsing when they were abused by a Hollywood producer or slipped a drug by an actor. They were called heroes, pioneers, the silence breakers, leaders, IDOLS.
Today, these very women, choose to ignore any talk of the suffering and abhorrence of what happened to Jewish women and girls, and condemn the inhuman, animalistic behavior by Hamas-ISIS terrorists. They lose all moral standing when only care about some victims of rape who fit their political agendas.
These feminists make me ill, as a champion for women's rights myself. They stand for absolutely nothing. Hollow skulls of empty rhetoric.
The grand irony is that some of these feminists support a regime in Palestine that sanctions and makes legal beating your wife, marrying a child, prison for a woman suspected of adultery, FGM, and killing gay people. And countless other brutal misogynist practices perhaps not written in law, but sanctioned and practiced culturally.
I am disgusted and disappointed in women who fail to strongly, assertively, and angrily, condemn what the Israeli girls, children, and women, endured at the end of their lives. There is no excuse, period. Palestinian civilians would be living their lives had their fearful leaders, Hamas-ISIS, not started this war. Put the blame where it belongs. Stop the deflection.
We all grieve the death of the innocent children on both sides. But that does not negate the pure intentional evil that was enjoyed and celebrated by devils on October 7.
For all the victims, we must remember the names and faces of these hypocrites whose silence is deafening. They don’t care about you, they don’t care about me, they care about themselves. They have failed as human beings. NEVER FORGET. ✡️

The case was considered the most high-profile "honor killing" of recent years, where women are murdered by male relatives for purportedly bringing "shame" to the reputation of a family.
Baloch first received recognition from the media in 2013, when she auditioned for Pakistan Idol. Her audition became popular and she became an Internet celebrity. She was one of the top 10 most searched-for persons on the internet in Pakistan and was both celebrated and criticized for the content of her videos and posts.
Three months after Qandeel Baloch's death, Pakistan lawmakers responded to the public outcry and passed legislation against the controversial practice–a landmark ruling welcomed by rights activists and lawyers. However, Waseem has been freed by a Pakistan appeals court, three years after he was convicted of killing her for "bringing dishonor" to the family.
In her posts, Qandeel Baloch had spoken of trying to change "the typical orthodox mindset" of people in Pakistan. She faced frequent abuse and death threats but continued to post pictures and videos seen as provocative. Nearly 1,000 Pakistani women are murdered by close relatives each year, in so-called honor killings, for violating conservative norms on love and marriage.

It explored the topic of juvenile psychiatry–an acute lack of mental health care in America for seriously emotionally disturbed youth.
It is about mentally ill and emotionally troubled children and young adults living in various private and public residences, state institutions, such as the Eastern State School in Pennsylvania, the Elan School in Poland, Maine, Sagamore Children's Center, a Long Island (state run) institution and South Beach in New York psychiatric hospital. It contains interviews with various parents, including ones whose children died under suspicious circumstances while in custody.
Many children in these institutions were simply warehoused and the common basic form of therapy was drugs, which didn't really help the kids but merely controlled them.
The film not only uncovered the mistreatments in mental institutions but it also captured the cold realization that mental illness can happen to anyone. Public mental institutions were not just for the poor. Children from middle class families and upper middle class families often ended up there due to inadequate insurance money and dwindled savings. Children of Darkness is scarier than many horror films we've ever seen, possibly one of the most disturbing and upsetting documentaries out there. The real life tragedies and dramas viewed in this film are a depressive tour-de-force into the corridors of psychiatric institutions dedicated to children and teenagers who early in life are put up against the most difficult of problems.

The film chronicles the lives of the sisters and the path to their eventual murders by their own father, Yaser Said. The film reveals new details and uncovers evidence about the case that has never before been made public, including a previous murder committed by Yaser, his abuse of his daughters from a young age, and the ultimate sacrifice of Amina Said, who had a secret plan to protect the love of her life. Her words, through emails, letters and diary entries, become the voice of the film and change much of what has heretofore been assumed about this case. Despite the tragedy, viewers will learn of an incredible love story that still has life after death.
Yaser Said was finally arrested on August 27, 2020 after being on the FBIs top ten fugitive list for over 12 years. Also arrested were his son, Islam Said and Yaser's brother, Yassim Said, for harboring a fugitive. The jury found Said guilty of capital murder. Dallas County District Court Judge Chika Anyiam sentenced Said to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
As of January 2023, he is incarcerated at Texas Department of Criminal Justice's McConnell Unit in Bee County, Texas.
Helplessness. Frustration. Repulsion. Rage. Grief. Emptiness. And sadness -- a deep, lingering sadness that grips you and won't let go. These are but a taste of the myriad of intense emotions that the story of Amina and Sarah Said will take hold in your heart, and stay with you long after it has played out to its conclusion. You cannot have a shred of decency in you and not feel rage toward the so-called father of these two teen girls, and toward his family of protectors. You will also feel intense emotion over the continued denial of their cowardly American mother. But age or gender was no protection when three generations of the same family were wiped out in one of the UK's most shocking crimes.
Amarjit and Nancy Chohan, their two sons, Ravinder, eight weeks, and Devinder, 18 months, and Mrs Chohan's mother, Charanjit Kaur, visiting their west London home from India, all died at the hands of ruthless men, who planned to take over Mr Chohan's haulage company, Ciba, and use it to smuggle drugs. They killed the Chohans and Mrs Kaur and then spun a web of lies to cover up their appalling brutality.
The bodies of Mr and Mrs Chohan and Mrs Kaur were recovered from the sea - in April, July and November 2003 respectively. Postmortem reports revealed that Mr Chohan had been drugged and possibly strangled and his wife's skull smashed with a hammer. Mrs Kaur's body was too badly decomposed to provide any conclusive information. The bodies of Ravinder and Devinder have never been found.
Kenneth Regan, William Horncy and Peter Rees, were convicted for their part in the murders. Watching this opens one's eyes to the fact that there are some individuals that should never walk among us. They are incapable of rehabilitation and their only goal in their lives is to take as much as they can at least cost to themselves with no care for those they trample over in their sickening quests. Produced and directed by Jacobe Love, this domestic violence documentary shows families, friends and experts in the small town of Columbus, Georgia who share stories about their battles lost and won, in their efforts against domestic violence, sexual assault and teenage dating violence. Some reveal cherished memories and regrets, while authorities and professionals explain their methods for eradicating violence in the city.
The state of Georgia has high rates of domestic abuse and dating violence. In 2018, there were 45,715 crisis calls to Georgia's certified domestic violence agencies. However, in 2022, there were 129,528 crisis calls to Georgia's certified domestic violence and sexual assault agencies, a 13% increase from 2021 crisis calls. Columbus, albeit a small town, has been a powder keg in recent years of violent crimes. Domestic affairs being the most active.
Love, whose mother, grandmother and aunt were all involved in abusive relationships themselves, also witnessed six murder cases of domestic violence while working as a field photographer for WLTZ NBC 38. As such, his need to use his skills and resources to do something grew stronger. Jacobe Love said his film is called "A Dangerous Silence" because if in domestic violence situations, you keep silent and it keeps happening, you could lose your life.
This powerful documentary is a benefit to every community. It's important to see the stories of Jerrica Spellman, Destinee Virgin, Mariah Farrow and DeAnn King, who did dot deserve their lives cut short by this Dangerous Silence. This film is dedicated to everyone who has lost their lives to domestic abuse and it's a commemoration to all domestic abuse survivors.

Filmmaker and investigative journalist Jonathan Schwartz went deep inside Alabama's infamous Limestone penitentiary to uncover the long-term causes and consequences of prison rape. With a startling lack of inhibition, five inmates reveal the workings of an elaborate inner society. In Limestone, sex is the gold standard, men sell their bodies for bags of coffee or chips, and makeshift families are cobbled together out of fear and cautious love.
Roughly a fifth of men serving in US prisons have been raped and looks into the prisons which allow this type of violent, sexual behavior. The documentary continues to detail how prison relationships work. It appears to be all about power and a terrifying, continuous game of who is on the top and bottom of any totem pole. The horrific stories of these men detailing their sexual assault will set you on edge. They absolutely are criminals, but they are decidedly human. There's so much emotion in all of us, the audience cannot help but be hooked within moments.
This is a fascinating, if inherently disturbing subject and video. We find the prison subculture—gangs, isolation, the bizarre barter system based around junk food—and all the myriad dynamics at play to literally be a world unto itself.
"Turned Out": Sexual Assault Behind Bars was the first documentary to capture prison life with the clarity of Full High Definition videography. Given the recent and severe prohibitions on filming inside many state prisons, it might be one of the last. Kudos to the production team on that one.

This led to the making of "The Right to Rape", an important documentary about a number of women who describe frankly how distressing it is to be raped by their husbands, and how in many ways it is worse than if it had been a stranger.
Most women in the survey thought that English law should be changed, as it has been in Scotland, to make rape within marriage (marital rape or spousal rape) a crime. The survey revealed that this sort of violence is surprisingly very common, and the police feel unable to deal with it adequately while this legal position stands.
Produced by Ray Fitzwalter and Dorothy Byrne, "The Right to Rape" reflects the cultural attitudes and language of the time it was made. The issues raised are timeless, and the film contains footage that could trigger viewers, so please watch with that in mind. Were you raped by your husband? Please leave a comment and share.

When Tsongo investigates the case of a soldier convicted of rape, she discovers that his trial was unfair and that he was convicted on the basis of little evidence. In her journey to obtain justice, she uncovers a system where the basic principles of law are ignored, and when the system fails, everyone becomes a victim.
This fascinating documentary not only provides a glimpse into the failings of the Congolese judicial system but also raises questions about the role of the international community and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in reforming it. Does their financial support cause justice to be for sale? And who pays the price?

While some countries have made major strides to reduce FGM by education and other measures, in some countries such as Iran, the existence of FGM is rampant.
Directed and produdced by Kameel Ahmady, this documentary film, which is first of its kind to be made on this issue, explores this phenomenon by directly talking to locals, parents, clergymen and most importantly to circumcisers who do this practice for living including local men. The film also presents local doctors calling the public to stop this vicious tradition.
The film ends when a top Iranian clergyman encourages mothers and fathers to cut their new-born girls. He tries to reassure the public that not only it doesn't harm girls, but that girls won't have any sexual dysfunctions or complications, but that it will increase the pleasure of sex between men and women.
Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is an abhorrent, sick human rights violation. This is the violent nature of the practice and it still happens. If you agree FGM should be abolished, please help us speak out against female genital mutilation on behalf of all the victims and survivors who don't have a voice. Share and leave your comment. When May was eventually freed in 2005, she continued her battle to clear her name. Sadly, she lost her battle with breast cancer and died on 12 October 2013.
For her family and friends, there was never any question that they wouldn't carry on the fight, and the fight to clear her name continues.
This is a case of a case of suspicion, speculation and conjecture. If you take the time to watch, please subscribe to our channel and comment below. Please be mindful and respectful when commenting.

The title refers to an unspoken pact in an abusive relationship, in which the abuser expects the victim never to disclose the abuse, and the abused complies with the hope of avoiding further violence. It shows that domestic violence is not limited to one culture or social class, and that there is no standard profile for an abuser or an abused person.
Directed by Neal Marshad and Donna Olson, this documentary is presented and narrated by Kathleen Turner, with appearances by Denise Brown (sister of Nicole Brown Simpson), Southampton judge Deborah Kooperstein, and others.
The Conspiracy of Silence outlines the problem of domestic violence clearly and concisely and provides the model for meaningful and workable solutions. This is a sober look at what domestic violence is and how it can be identified, punished, and prevented. WATCH!

Produced and directed by Julia Reichert and Jim Klein, this is a time capsule of where we have come from. For women who came of age during that time, this film is a reminder of the pervasive messages that shaped women. Thanks to filmmakers, we can have a better sense of the lives of young women who were impacted by the rampant misogyny and oppression of that time. It sheds light on the silent obligations and lives of the women who lived in their limited roles in the 60's and 70's.
Thank you to all the women pioneers who paved a way for our younger upcoming generations to step out of societies definition and constraints to follow their own dreams and goals, regardless if they followed an unconventional path that does not include marriage, kids and/or supportive work roles. Please leave a comment and share this important documentary. RIP Julia Reichert.
