Apparently, timing Christie's JAK 1kk with Brad Wong's h+kkk is another way to side switch the opponent.
Shoutout to @DEATHWALKSALONE for playing this set of matches. Solid Brad Wong.
Some recent matches with fellow DOA YouTuber @kaito_v3x, one of the scariest Marie Rose players I've played in DOA6 by far. The matches were intense (particularly Matches 3 and 5), and I had a lot of fun.

Ever wanted to be robbed of a really good match because your high-damaging slide does nothing to a standing opponent? 'Cause that totally happened.

In a previously uploaded match with LowDown2020, I noticed something regarding Christie's 3p+kk (or rolling k) that for all intents and purposes should not have happened. While Tina was doing a side recovery from a wall slam after a juggle, Christie's roll readjusted to the direction Tina was going, effectively sideswitching and still launching Tina on counter hit.
Normally, the roll goes out of alignment with the opponent in open space if the opponent dodges out of the way at just the right timing. But in this specific situation, Rolling K just said "Fuck the game, I'll do what I want!"
After seeing rolling K decide to randomly not hit the opponent at all in my previous gameplay-related videos, only to see it do wild shit like this, I'm beginning to think Rolling K is sentient... it's got a mind of it's own, I tell ya!

DISCLAIMER: The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the potential of Tamaki's 66T offensive hold (or OH) against airborne opponents in specific situations. This is not a guide, nor a demonstration of an optimal strategy that can be used in competitive play.
And while the damage from this offensive hold is so minor that it's not worth the risk, it is a fun way to mess with your opponent if you feel like showing off.
Hope you enjoy. Will there be a Part 3? Even I dunno the answer to that...

The following is an offshoot of the "Dead or Alive Lore Explained" series, focusing on trivia for a specific character in Dead or Alive separate from the story and lore (which is the purpose of my other video series). As such, this is a much smaller-scale series of videos averaging from 5 to 8 minutes (or so I hope).
To focus on as many different characters as possible, the order of this series will be going in reverse order of game appearance (DOA6 to DOA1) as opposed to the actual game order (DOA1 to DOA6). And who knows, you may appreciate something new about the characters of DOA!

The purpose of these episodes are to provide the most comprehensive history as possible for most - if not all - of the collaborations with the long-running Dead or Alive fighting game series as well as its guest characters-- from a Spartan created completely from scratch by Bungie, to a fiery, fan-wielding queen of fighters from SNK!
Today's episode will be going over the series' sixth guest character as a result of Tecmo's inevitable merger with another third party developer, Koei. Rebranded as Koei Tecmo Games, the DOA series' collaboration with Koei would come to a head in Dead or Alive 5 Last Round with Naotora Ii as the representing guest character from the Samurai Warriors / Musou franchise.
(NOTE: Yes, I'm aware that chronologically, the Virtua Fighter characters came first. But due to issues finding guest speakers for that future episode, and the limited availability for the guest characters for this episode at the time of planning, I had no choice but to release this one first.)
This episode features two guest speakers in my place: elfsongtavern and Kasumi Lover.
In all my years in the DOA community, I haven't met a more vocal and stubborn Naotora player than elfsongtavern. Even when the odds are stacked against the character in tier placement, she continues to master the character unbothered in DOA5LR, and still plays the game on occasion to this very day, eventually ranking #1 in the online character ranking leaderboards on PSN.
When she's not hitting the books hard in college, she also does some DOA character combo exhibitions in her spare time, albeit they are few and far between. She even made a few short clips that make fun of her own main, fully aware of how grossly exaggerated certain iterations of the historic character truly are.
Oh yeah... if her name sounds like it came out of Dungeons and Dragons, you'd be correct. She's very much a D&D fan.
Some may also Kasumi Lover currently as APO Prince. While he's not as active playing DOA online as most, you can find him regularly on FreeStepDodge.com, where he shares tech and beginner guides for the characters he normally plays, including his main Kasumi. Among the other characters he plays is Naotora.
KasumiLover has hopes of competing in the future of the DOA series as a Kasumi rep, as well as a Naotora specialist alongside elfsongtavern. But his real passion as of late is creating mods for DOA6 on Steam, giving the players more to work with in terms of hairstyles and clothes for the characters, including old favorites.
He told me he always wanted to host an episode if Naotora is featured, so he got his wish.

Welcome to "The History of Dead or Alive Guest Characters", the second offshoot of the "Dead or Alive Lore Explained" series.

Today's episode will be going over the series' second collaboration that is well-known by fans and meticulously well-timed during the peak of its own flagship series' popularity that needs no introduction-- Bungie, and the Halo series. Furthermore, this would mark the DOA series' first true guest character: SPARTAN-458.

Late last year I jumped on PS4 for a long set with the Nyotengu player Borne... yes, the same Borne who co-hosted the Nyotengu Trivia Explained video I uploaded last year. He was ready for me and not letting me get away with sidesteps, so adjusting to his playstyle took some time. Overall it was a good set. Maybe someday I'll see him on Steam.
I would've uploaded this sooner, but the replays were quickly eating up my PS4's hard drive, and I had yet to invest in external hard drives at the time I did this set. So I had to wait to record the matches individually and edit them.

After the lobby with Justice and Hikari and a session with TheTrueKasumi, I got yet another set of matches that same night, this time with Autoaim.
To say he was out for blood that night was an understatement. Auto was determined to overcome the Christie matchup with Tamaki in ways I was not expecting. His defense was already solid, and now he even knows how to slide buffer in short range without the need to get running distance... it was scary. If he ever becomes proficient with utilizing expert holds, he'll be even scarier to fight against. Do not underestimate this Tamaki.

Shortly after JusticeIsHope and SokkoHikari disbanded the lobby that night, I got some matches in with TheTrueKasumi (TTK). This is a compilation of some of our best matches from that session.
NOTE: Since it might be pointed out later, I'll address it now. In Match #2, I stood completely still for a few seconds during a fireworks combo. My controller died, and I had to reconnect quickly.

A more recent set of matches with the Honoka player HonoKat'Z (currently Cosmic G1RL) in the Steam/PC version of DOA6. She's quite patient and adapts quickly, forcing me to approach her differently in close range. It was a fun session!

The second half of my casuals with a longtime friend since DOA4, Autoaim, who now mains Tamaki. Big mistakes will be made. Funny moments will happen. Crowd dangerzones will randomly not trigger when they're supposed to for some reason...
But I regret nothing. Part of me feels alive playing Auto once again. Good games.
#deadoralive6 #autoaim #awesmic
To give some context to the video cover, Autoaim is a longtime friend of mine I met in the DOA community (and one of the best friends I made there) since the early years of DOA4, and we had a lot of fun times together back then. Though I haven't seen him around much throughout the span of DOA5's cycle, seeing him back in DOA6 brings a tear to my eye, and with a new main to boot, Tamaki.
This isn't the first time we fought in DOA6, but these are the first vids I managed to record of our matches. He's becoming gradually better with Tamaki, and his defense is as annoying as ever. Though as long as he's been playing Spartan-458 in DOA4, I should've expected this in his playstyle.
He's also starting his own Twitch channel where he hopes to stream a variety of games he plays both casually and competitively, DOA6 among them. Send him your support if you can.

Early on in the show before presenting the contestants, Johnny Arcade (portrayed by Stivi Paskoski) would sit on this bulky, futuristic-looking chair called the "Edgehog", press the power activator button, and give random tips and tricks on either the featured game being played on that week (or a random one of his choosing) almost always ending with the catchphrase "And that's the Video Power Edge!"
