BOOK DESCRIPTION
In Behavioral AI: Unleash Decision Making with Data, behavioral economist Dr. Rogayeh Tabrizi delivers an intuitive roadmap to help organizations disentangle the complexity of their data to create tangible and lasting value. The book explains how to balance the multiple disciplines that power AI and behavioral economics using a combination of the right questions and insightful problem solving.
You'll learn why intellectual diversity and combining subject matter experts in psychology, behavior, economics, physics, computer science, and engineering is essential to creating advanced AI solutions. You'll also discover how behavioral economics principles influence data models and governance architectures and make digital transformation processes more efficient and effective; discussions of the most important barriers to value in typical big data and AI projects and how to bring them down; and the most effective methodology to help shorten the long, wasteful process of "boiling the ocean of data."
An exciting and essential resource for managers, executives, board members, and other business leaders engaged or interested in harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and big data, Behavioral AI will also benefit data and machine learning professionals.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
The 20th century was the century of voracity, the 21st century will be the century of hunger. Elsewhere, of course, in Africa, but also in the West, right here.
Depletion of fossil fuels and minerals, climate change, shrinking arable land, the agony of soils, scarcity of fresh water, depopulation of the oceans, overpopulation, the crisis in agriculture: these are all factors leading to hunger and its dramatic consequences.
Decades of reckless expansion now leave us only a tiny strait to avoid collapse and emerge from the fossil age without irreparable damage. Hugues Stoeckel convinces us, without complacency and with many examples, of the reality of the peril, the better to show us the glimmer of hope.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
For more than twenty years, major innovations—the kind that transform industries and even societies—seem to have come almost exclusively from startups. Established companies still dominate most markets, but despite massive efforts and millions of dollars, they can't seem to achieve the same kinds of foundational breakthroughs. The problem, say Tony Davila and Marc Epstein, is that the very processes and structures responsible for established companies' enduring success prevent them from developing breakthroughs. This is the innovation paradox.
Using examples from both scrappy startups and long–term innovators such as IBM, 3M, Apple, and Google, Davila and Epstein explain how corporate culture, leadership style, strategy, incentives, and management systems can be structured to encourage breakthroughs. Then they bring it all together in a new model called the Startup Corporation, which combines the philosophy of the startup with the experience, resources, and network of an established company.
Breakthrough innovation no longer has to be the nearly exclusive province of the new kids on the block. With Davila and Epstein's assistance, any company can develop paradigm–shifting products and services and maximize the ROI on its R&D.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Brought to you by Penguin.
We all know the feeling of digital exhaustion.
The aimless scrolling, eyes glazing over at the screen. The feeling that no matter how many messages we respond to, how many posts we read, or how much data we sort through, we can never stay ahead of it.
Digital Exhaustion shows us how we can reimagine our relationship with our digital tools.
Digital transformation expert and Professor, Paul Leonardi, argues that our exhaustion comes from the “exhaustion triad;” that is, the way that our tools change how we pay attention, how we attribute behaviours and intentions to others, and how we experience our emotions.
By creating new habits around our use of technologies, we can set up boundaries so they stop depleting us so quickly. Follow these eight rules to regain control of your life: Rule #1: Stop Using Half Your Tools. Rule #2: Make a Match. Rule #3: Batch and Stream. Rule #4: Wait. One Hour. One Day. One Week. Rule #5: Don’t Assume. Rule #6: Always Be Intentional. Rule #7: Learn to See Around Corners. Rule #8: Be Here, Not There.
Discover the life–changing guide to using your digital devices in surprising new ways to help you beat exhaustion and find new sources of energy.
‘A practical game plan for pushing back. It's time to reclaim our lives!’ Cal Newport, bestselling author of Slow Productivity and Deep Work

BOOK DESCRIPTION
It was George Orwell's early writing that helped shape his worldview and writing style. Here we focus on his works "The Spike" and "A Hanging," and his time as a police officer in Burma. Orwell's first published work was an essay titled "The Spike," which appeared in 1931. The essay is a vivid and harrowing account of his time spent in a homeless shelter in London. Orwell, who was struggling financially at the time, chose to experience a homeless shelter firsthand, and his account is an indictment of the dehumanizing conditions he encountered. In "The Spike," Orwell describes the brutal reality of life in the shelter, where men were treated like animals and forced to endure hunger, cold, and violence. "Shooting An Elephant" is too tragically eye–opening.
This would later inform his political views and writing, particularly his belief in the importance of social justice and his struggle against oppression. In his essay "How the Poor Die," Orwell describes his observations of the poor and their struggle with illness and death. He portrays a society where the poor are neglected and left to suffer in silence and without dignity. This essay is another example of Orwell's commitment to social justice and his belief in the importance of empathy and compassion. In 1931, Orwell joined the Indian Imperial Police in Burma, where he served for five years. There he witnessed the brutal realities of colonialism and oppression. In his essay A Hanging," (1931), Orwell recounts the experience of attending the execution of a prisoner. Orwell describes the prisoner's final moments with empathy and his account of the execution is a moving critique of the dehumanizing effects of state–sanctioned violence.
Orwell's experiences with poverty oppression and violence informed his later political and social beliefs
As read by Emmy–nominated actor Geoffrey Giuliano. With a full biography of Orwell and selected quotations.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents... Almost Nothing Happened by Meg Rosoff read by Jaouhar Ben Ayed
Paris. August. One long summer of nothing. 48 hours of everything. From the inimitable Meg Rosoff comes a chaotic and irresistible YA.
17–year–old Callum is facing an unfortunate truth: his summer exchange in rural France was a failure. No epic adventure, no summer fling, and his French is still rubbish. Just as he should be boarding the Eurostar home, without even a hint of a plan, Callum impulsively decides to stay (and doesn't bother telling his parents).
He only knows one person in Paris: his long–lost cousin, Harrison, an oboist. As night falls on the hottest weekend of the year, an adventure begins – involving a motorbike, a curfew, a stolen oboe, a priceless Matisse painting, at least one police chase, a climate protest and the enigmatic, alluring, irresistible Lilou ...
A completely delicious, funny, fast–paced summer read from the multi–award–winning author of How I Live Now, The Great Godden and Friends Like These.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Yuan Yang was born in 1990 in China, where she lived with her grandparents for four years before her parents brought her to the UK. BOOK DESCRIPTION
In this honest and revealing memoir, Erin Phillips candidly looks back at her astonishing playing journey and life so far. As the daughter of Aussie Rules legend and Hall of Famer Greg Phillips, Erin's first sporting love was Australian Rules football, but at 13 years old she was forced to give up the sport she loved because there was no further pathway for girls to play the game. Then, in 2017, Erin's lifelong dream of playing professional football finally came true when she was invited to join the inaugural AFLW competition. She was named co–captain of the Adelaide Crows and went on to win three premierships in six seasons before moving to Port Adelaide as their inaugural captain. The newly formed women's league changed the Australian sport industry forever, and Erin Phillips was the face of that change, leading by example and gaining the support of the nation throughout her impressive career. Beyond the field and court, Erin reveals the challenges she has faced from all sides, from dealing with body–image issues to discovering her sexuality, and starting a family with the love of her life.
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Erin Phillips is a marquee player and co–captain of the Adelaide Crows AFLW team. In the inaugural AFLW season and again in 2019, Erin remarkably led the Crows to premiership glory, won best on ground at the grand final, captained the All Australian squad, and won both the Players’ Association MVP and the league best and fairest (she missed a lot of the 2018 season due to injury). Her 2019 grand final best on ground win was particularly impressive as she was on the ground for less than three quarters of the game due to an ACL injury. Her stats show that she is not only undoubtedly the best AFLW of all times, but she also might be one of the best AFL players of all times. As the daughter of SANFL and VFL legend Greg Phillips, Australian rules football was Erin’s first sporting love, but it wasn’t her first sporting career. After being told she had to give up footy, Erin instead played basketball. She attended the AIS and played in the WNBL and WNBA, winning a number of awards and…

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Island at the Edge of the World, written and read by Mike Pitts.
'The true and fascinating story of Easter Island and its amazing statues' KEN FOLLETT
Where did they come from? How did they get there? Why did they carve the island’s colossal iconic statues – and how? What happened to the civilisation they created?
These are just a few of the questions about Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, that have puzzled generations.
Europeans first encountered the Islanders in the early eighteenth century, bringing back astonishing tales from one of the most remote inhabited places on Earth. They told fantastic stories of lost continents, cannibalism, giants and aliens. Thor Heyerdahl claimed that the island was discovered by pale–skinned sailors from South America, ignoring the rightful claims of the greatest explorers the world has ever known. Recently, the idea that Islanders cut down all the trees, causing mass starvation and social collapse, has been espoused by scientists, broadcasters and politicians. Now, in archaeologist Mike Pitts’s superb investigation, Island at the Edge of the World, he provides authoritative new insights into what really happened.
Using the latest scientific and archaeological research, plus a huge range of historical accounts, Pitts builds a fascinating new portrait of the Islanders’ story. In particular, Pitts revives the life work of Katherine Routledge, who spent sixteen months on the island in 1914–15, surviving revolution and war, assembling a priceless but largely ignored archive of excavations and interviews – and whose legacy reveals the rapacious interference that spawned generations of false histories. Many questions still remain, but this is the most compelling and comprehensive account yet published of the extraordinary story of Easter Island.
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mike Pitts is an archaeologist, journalist and author of multiple books on archaeology. He has written for The Times, Telegraph, Sunday Times, Observer and Guardian, and many magazines including New Scientist and BBC History. He edited British Archaeology magazine for twenty years and continues to conduct original archaeological research which has been published in several peer–reviewed journals. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents How the World Made the West by Josephine Quinn, read by Alix Dunmore.
A Guardian, Financial Times, New Statesman, The Rest is Politics and Waterstones Highlight for 2024
'Quinn has done a lot more than reinvent the wheel. What we have here is a truly encyclopaedic and monumental account of the ancient world' THE TIMES
'A work of great confidence, empathy, learning and imagination' RORY STEWART
'Bold, beautifully written and filled with insights . . . Extraordinary' PETER FRANKOPAN
'One of the most fascinating and important works of global history to appear for many years' WILLIAM DALRYMPLE
The West, the story goes, was built on the ideas and values of Ancient Greece and Rome, which disappeared from Europe during the Dark Ages and were then rediscovered by the Renaissance. But what if that isn’t true?
In a bold and magisterial work of immense scope, Josephine Quinn argues that the real story of the West is much bigger than this established paradigm leads us to believe. So much of our shared history has been lost, drowned out by the concept – developed in the Victorian era – of separate ‘civilisations’.
Moving from the Bronze Age to the Age of Exploration, How the World Made the West reveals a new narrative: one that traces the millennia of global encounters and exchange that built what is now called the West, as societies met, tangled and sometimes grew apart. From the creation of the alphabet by Levantine workers in Egypt, who in a foreign land were prompted to write things down in their own language for the first time, to the arrival of Indian numbers in Europe via the Arab world, Quinn makes the case that understanding societies in isolation is both out–of–date and wrong. It is contact and connections, rather than solitary civilisations, that drive historical change. It is not peoples that make history – people do.
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Josephine Quinn is Professor of Ancient History at the University of Cambridge, the first woman to hold this Chair. She has degrees from Oxford and the University of California, Berkeley, has taught in America, Italy and at Oxford, and co–directed the Tunisian–British archaeological excavations at Utica. She is a regular contributor to the London Review of Books, as well as to radio and television programmes. She is the author of one previous book, the award–winning In Search of the Phoenicians.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Embark on a transformative journey that will challenge everything you thought you knew about spirituality, reality, and your place in the cosmos. "The Spiritual Anarchist: Breaking the Chains of Consensual Delusion" is not just a book–it is a rebellion against the confines of conventional wisdom and a clarion call to awaken the divine spark within you.
In a world where dogma reigns supreme and conformity is the norm, this groundbreaking work dares to ask the questions others are afraid to ask. Drawing from a wellspring of personal experience and profound insight, you are invited to challenge the very foundations of your beliefs and peer beyond the veil of consensus reality.
As you delve into these pages, prepare to confront uncomfortable truths and challenge the mental prisons that have long held you captive. You'll discover why organized religion often falls short of true spiritual enlightenment, why academic institutions can perpetuate intellectual stagnation, and how societal expectations can stifle your innate potential. But this is not just a critique of the status quo. It is a roadmap to personal liberation and cosmic understanding. Through a blend of raw honesty, penetrating analysis, and transformative wisdom, you'll learn to
– Cultivate a direct connection to universal truths that transcend religious and scientific dogma.
– Identify and break free from the self–imposed limitations that keep you trapped in mediocrity.
– Embrace your unique path of spiritual growth, even if it puts you at odds with society.
– Tap into the source of inner wisdom that lies dormant within you.
– Navigate the complex landscape of human relationships and personal growth with authenticity and purpose.
Spiritual Anarchist is not for the faint of heart or those satisfied with superficial spirituality. It is for the seekers, the rebels, the visionaries who sense that there is more to existence than what meets the eye. It is for those brave enough to dance on the edge of sanity, question everything, and emerge reborn. But be warned: this book may challenge your most deeply held beliefs, provoke intense self–reflection, and catalyze profound personal transformation. For those willing to break the chains of consensual delusion and step into their full power as co–creators of reality, the rewards are immeasurable. Are you ready to become a Spiritual Anarchist? The journey begins now.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents If Something Happens to Me by Alex Finlay, read by John Pirhalla, Paul Dateh and Helen Laser.
From the critically acclaimed author of Every Last Fear and The Night Shift, a gripping thriller about one young man's search for the truth after an inexplicable crime leaves his world torn apart.
The car door ripped open. The crushing blow to the head. Hands yanking him from the vehicle. His girlfriend’s piercing scream...
For the past five years, Ryan Richardson has relived that terrible night. With no trace of Ali after she is abducted, a cloud of suspicion hangs over him, though he is never charged. Trying to put his past behind him, Ryan changes his name and enters law school.
It’s on a summer trip to Italy that he gets the call: his missing car has finally been found, in a lake in his hometown. But inside the car are two dead men. The only trace of Ali is a cryptic note, the envelope in her handwriting stating: If something happens to me...
Reeling from the news, Ryan sees the man who has haunted his nightmares since the night Ali was taken. But how could that be possible, so far from home? His search for answers leads him to rural England, and Paris, but the truth may lie in the shape of two very different people back in the USA...
If Something Happens to Me is a compelling story perfect for fans of Peter Swanson and Karin Slaughter. With twist after pulse–pounding twist, it showcases Alex Finlay as one of the leading thriller writers today.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents She Died Young by Brenda Fricker, read by Sorcha Cusack.
She Died Young is the literary work of an astonishing mind in which intellect, madness, art and raw honesty unite. It is as far from a ‘celebrity memoir’ as you can get.
With humour, honesty and a poetic sensibility, Brenda Fricker traces a life–journey in which her resilience and inner strength shine brightly. With luminous memories of happy summers in Kerry, where she and her sister Gránia got up to hilarious mischief and learned to rebel against Irish orthodoxy, she also explores devastating personal challenges. She talks frankly of her complicated adult relationships. She describes the difficulty of surviving sexual violence and living with mental illness.
Brenda’s contributions to theatre, film and television represent an artistic legacy that few can match. Her work in films like The Field, Swann, The Swallow, Home Alone 2 and My Left Foot is widely acclaimed and her character, Megan, in TV series Casualty, was a huge success.
She is the first Irish actress to win an Oscar.
—

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Someone Like Me written and read by Penny Lancaster.
Penny Lancaster counts herself as incredibly lucky. She had a loving upbringing, her life with husband Rod Stewart has spanned continents, she’s made incredible friendships, become part of an amazing family and embraced motherhood.
But it’s not all been plain–sailing. From being relentlessly bullied at school and underestimated because of undiagnosed dyslexia, Penny also experienced a harrowing sexual assault as a young girl. This has made her a staunch campaigner for women’s safety and, these days, she regularly puts in hours as a Special Constable for the City of London Police, where her primary concern is making the streets safe for women.
She’s also navigated the challenges of having the weight of the world’s scrutiny thrust upon her in her twenties, undergone IVF treatment, supported loved ones through cancer diagnoses, overcome her own depression and manoeuvred through menopause. Amongst a heady mix of royalty, rock legends and renegades, her story is one of resilience.
In Someone Like Me Penny tells her full story for the first time, with a natural empathy and humour that she hopes will help others on their own life journey. She shares her wisdom from hard–earned lessons, showing that the key to navigating both storms and sunshine is staying true to you.
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Penny Lancaster attended her local theatre school, enrolled on a modelling course at the London College of Fashion and went on to enjoy a successful modelling career for over 15 years, during which time she qualified as an aerobics teacher. She later gained a BTEC National Diploma in Photography and Design, and in 2000, the year after she started dating Rod Stewart, she turned professional. In 2004, she made her West End debut in ‘Tonight’s The Night’ while continuing to pursue her charity activities. Their first son was born the following year. In 2007 Rod and Penny married. She then competed in Strictly Come Dancing and in 2011 gave birth to their second son. In 2019, she featured in the Channel 4 production, Famous and Fighting Crime in which she joined volunteer officers who police towns and cities across the UK. Other recent TV appearances include The One Show, Celebrity MasterChef and The Great British Sewing Bee – and she continues to appear as a regular guest panellist on Loose…

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Ouch! by Margee Kerr and Linda Rodriguez McRobbie, read by Laila Pyne.
Pain seems like a fairly straightforward experience – you get hurt and it, well, hurts. But how would you describe it? By the number of broken bones or stitches? By the cause – the crowning baby, the sharp knife, the straying lover? What does a 7 on a pain scale of 1 to 10 really mean?
Pain is complicated. But most of the time, the way we treat pain is superficial – we seek out states of perfect painlessness by avoiding it at all costs, or suppressing it, usually with drugs. This has left us hurting all the more.
Through in–depth interviews, investigation into the history of pain and original research, Ouch! paints a new picture of pain as a complex and multi–layered phenomenon. Authors Margee Kerr and Linda McRobbie Rodriguez tell the stories of sufferers and survivors, courageous kids and their brave parents, athletes and artists, people who find healing and pleasure in pain, and scientists pushing the boundaries of pain research, to challenge the notion that all pain is bad and harmful. They reveal why who defines pain matters and how history, science, and culture shape how we experience pain. Ouch! dismantles prevailing assumptions about pain and that not all pain is bad, not all pain should be avoided, and, in the right context, pain can even feel good.
To build a healthier relationship with pain, we must understand how it works, how it is expressed and how we communicate and think about it. Once we understand how pain is made, we can remake it.
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

BOOK DESCRIPTION
An in–depth history of the US Navy’s light aircraft carrier the USS Princeton and its operational exploits in the Pacific Theater of World War II.
This new history of the life and loss of USS Princeton tells the story of the new class of aircraft carrier that proved essential to the US Navy’s victory over the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Pacific War.
USS Princeton (CVL–23) started life as the light cruiser Tallahassee before being converted while still under construction into a light carrier as part of the plan to ramp up the strength of US naval air power. The vessel joined the Pacific Fleet in August 1943 and was immediately put to work as the United States was assembling new ships and crews for the bitter struggle to come. Princeton played a key role in conducting multiple strikes against the Japanese bastion at Rabaul, and then joined Task Force 58/38 – the Fast Carrier Task Force – for the Central Pacific campaign, culminating in the invasion of the Philippines, where the ship was lost.
David R. Leick skillfully uses first–hand accounts to examine the engagements, aircraft, tactics, command decisions and life on board during the Pacific campaign against Japan from early 1943 until Princeton’s tragic demise in October 1944. He focuses closely on the ship’s crew and embarked Naval Aviators, describing in detail the toll that prolonged combat operations took on the frontline sailor.
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
David R. Leick served in the US Marine Corps before attending California State University, Chico, where he earned a master’s degree and subsequently went into teaching. In 2005, he stepped away from the classroom to work as a security contractor in Afghanistan on the Ambassador’s Protective Detail before working more generally for the Worldwide Protective Service as a training manager. David now writes full time and lives in Lincoln, California.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
'This is not just one of the best science books I have read, but one of the best books full stop' – Chris van Tulleken, author of the Sunday Times bestseller ULTRA–PROCESSED PEOPLE
'Junk–food giants hijack your biology. Wellness hucksters sell you false hope. In a food environment rigged against you, this is your guide to fighting back.' Henry Dimbleby, author of the Sunday Times bestseller RAVENOUS, and architect of the UK's National Food Strategy.
'A must–read . . . written with great expertise' – David Kessler, author of the New York Times bestseller DIET, DRUGS, AND DOPAMINE
'If you are going to read one book about nutrition and health, then make it this one' – Deborah Blum, Pulitzer–Prize winning author of THE POISON SQUAD
Nutrition isn't rocket science; it's harder.
There are new diet fads, bold claims about superfoods and articles promising the secrets to lasting weight loss and longevity. The more 'expert' advice we hear about diet, the less clarity we have about what to eat.
In Food Intelligence, award–winning health journalist, Julia Belluz, and internationally renowned nutrition and metabolism scientist, Kevin Hall, cut through the myths about nutrition to deliver a comprehensive book on food, diet, metabolism and healthy eating.
Breaking food down into its constituent parts, they reveal the science behind how protein, fat, carbs and vitamins impact our bodies. They shine a light on the wonders of metabolism and debunk the latest 'theories' about blood sugar monitors and ultra–processed foods. They reveal the ways that the world around us – our food environment – shapes our eating behaviours and the food choices we make every day. Diseases like obesity and type 2 diabetes are not a result of a failure of willpower; they are consequences of food systems working as designed.
Humane and deeply reported, this journey into the science of what we eat will equip you with the food intelligence you need to better understand what's on your dinner plate, how it got there and why you eat it.

The author of THE LIGHTNING CATCHER is back with an exciting, imaginative and heartfelt middle grade novel perfect for fans of The Girl Who Stole an Elephant and The Shark Caller.
Summer was supposed to be Ginika's time for fun, friends and fairs. But instead she's been sent to live at the dead–end seaside boarding house her grandparents run. Even though her parents say it’s just for a little while, she can’t help feeling abandoned and heartbroken to be missing out on everything she loves back home.
And then she meets Peri. He leaps and dives through the water like a dolphin and he talks like a burst of bubbles. He’s not exactly a mermaid, but he’s definitely something Ginika's never seen before.
His family is far away too, but unlike Ginika, he loves his independence. As Ginika shows Peri her world, she starts to feel free as well. They don’t need anyone else when they’ve got each other. But then the lights and noise of the human world start to change Peri. And when things spin out of control, Ginika must be the bravest she's ever been to face her fears and make the hardest decision of her life.
Join Ginika and Peri as they dive beneath the waves and walk the lands that will take them into each other's worlds on an adventure they will never forget and a life–changing friendship.

No, we're not lost.
The wind knows my name.
And yours too.
Vienna, 1938. Samuel Adler is five years old when his father disappears during Kristallnacht — the night their family loses everything. As her child’s safety seems ever harder to guarantee, Samuel’s mother secures a spot for him on the last Kindertransport train out of Nazi–occupied Austria to England. He boards alone, carrying nothing but a change of clothes and his violin.
Arizona, 2019. Eight decades later, Anita Diaz and her mother board another train, fleeing looming danger in El Salvador and seeking refuge in the United States. But their arrival coincides with the new family separation policy, and seven–year–old Anita finds herself alone at a camp in Nogales. She escapes her tenuous reality through her trips to Azabahar, a magical world of the imagination. Meanwhile, Selena Duran, a young social worker, enlists the help of a successful lawyer in hopes of tracking down Anita’s mother.
Intertwining past and present, The Wind Knows My Name tells the tale of these two unforgettable characters, both in search of family and home. It is both a testament to the sacrifices that parents make, and a love letter to the children who survive the most unfathomable dangers — and never stop dreaming.

In today's world, many people are led to failure and mental illness by a vast array of false ideas shared by people who are not competent enough to be taken seriously.
Realizing that this reality permeates our habits and choices doesn't come without a serious confrontation with the truth, which often means accepting our own mistakes along the way. The ability to make better choices in life depends fundamentally on this awakening. Without it, our potential will always be limited by our false beliefs.
“Unapologetic: Embracing Your True Self in a World of False Ideas”, clearly presents many examples of factors that interfere with your ability to achieve success and greater happiness. By looking at various situations from a more pragmatic perspective, you will be guided to your true self. Everyone needs to know that what we choose to believe makes a difference in our results.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Bad News by Rob Brotherton, read by Lance C Fuller.
From the bestselling author of Suspicious Minds
There was a time when the news came once a day, in the morning newspaper. A time when the only way to see what was happening around the world was to catch the latest newsreel at the movies.
Times have changed. Now we’re inundated. The news is no longer confined to a radio in the living room, or to a nightly half–hour timeslot on the television. Pundits pontificate on news networks 24 hours a day. We carry the news with us, getting instant alerts about events around the globe. Yet despite this unprecedented abundance of information, it seems increasingly difficult to know what’s true and what’s not.
In Bad News, Rob Brotherton delves into the psychology of news, reviewing how the latest research can help navigate this supposedly post–truth world. Which buzzwords describe psychological reality, and which are empty sound bites? How much of this news is unprecedented, and how much is business as usual? Are we doomed to fall for fake news, or is fake news ... fake news?
There has been considerable psychological research into the fundamental questions underlying this phenomenon. How do we form our beliefs, and why do we end up believing things that are wrong? How much information can we possibly process, and what is the internet doing to our attention spans? Ultimately this book answers one of the greatest questions of the age: how can we all be smarter consumers of news?
—
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Rob Brotherton is an academic psychologist and science writer who likes to walk on the weird side of psychology. His first book, Suspicious Minds: Why We Believe Conspiracy Theories, was published by Bloomsbury Sigma in 2015 and was shortlisted for a British Psychological Society Book Award and a Phi Beta Kappa Book Award.
Rob completed a PhD on the psychology of conspiracy theories at Goldsmiths, University of London, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. After a time lecturing at Goldsmiths, he moved to New York City, where he researches and teaches political psychology, among other things, at Barnard College, Columbia University.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents So Very Small by Thomas Levenson, read by Mike Cooper.
In 1665, an infectious disease swept through the British capital and claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people. It would take another two hundred years for the cause of the Great Plague of London to be confirmed: a powerful bacterium called Yersinia pestis. In those centuries, our understanding of diseases was transformed.
In So Very Small, Thomas Levenson reveals how human hubris led us to overestimate our own ability and underestimate the threat that microorganisms truly pose. He journeys through some of the most significant epidemics and pandemics in history, including the recurrent outbreaks of cholera in Europe and Asia, and the
1721 Boston smallpox epidemic.
The turning point came in the nineteenth century with the development of germ theory: the concept that microbes can cause disease. Levenson shows how, in the years that followed, scientists made major breakthroughs in our ongoing struggle against infectious disease. Perhaps the greatest of these achievements is the discovery of antibiotic treatment, which has been the salvation of much of humanity in recent centuries.
In a story that spans centuries and continents, So Very Small explores the scientific quest to understand how tiny organisms have impacted the wider world – and looks ahead to the battle to fight their rapid evolution.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents All the Way to the River, written and read by Elizabeth Gilbert.
In her first non–fiction book in a decade, the no. 1 bestselling writer who taught millions of readers to live authentically (Eat Pray Love) and creatively (Big Magic) shows how to break free.
In 2000, Elizabeth Gilbert met Rayya. They became friends, then best friends, then inseparable. When tragedy entered their lives, the truth was finally laid bare: the two were in love. They were also a pair of addicts, on a collision course toward catastrophe.
What if your most beautiful love story turned into your biggest nightmare? What if the dear friend who taught you so much about your self–destructive tendencies became the unstable partner with whom you disastrously reenacted every one of them? And what if your most devastating heartbreak opened a pathway to your greatest awakening?
All the Way to the River is a landmark memoir that will resonate with anyone who has ever been captive to love – or to any other passion, substance or craving – and who yearns, at long last, for liberation.

In Edinburgh’s rain–swept streets, Grace thought she had found her forever in Jamie—until a devastating betrayal shatters their marriage and forces her to question everything she believed about love.

There, she finds Vasilis, a widowed father whose quiet strength and mysterious past begin to thaw her frozen heart. But as their connection deepens, shadows from both their pasts threaten to destroy their fragile new beginning.
In a place where centuries–old traditions clash with modern hearts, Grace must decide: Will she let past betrayals define her future, or can she find the courage to trust in love once more?

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Curing & Smoking by Steven Lamb, read by Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall and Richard Trinder.
Fortnum & Mason Food & Drink Awards 2015 | Highly Commended
Curing and smoking your own food is a bit of a lost art in Britain these days. While our European neighbours have continued to use these methods on their meat, fish and cheese for centuries, we seem to have lost the habit. But with the right guidance, anyone can preserve fresh produce, whether living on a country farm or in an urban flat – it doesn't have to take up a huge amount of space.
The River Cottage ethos is all about knowing the whole story behind what you put on the table; and as Steven Lamb explains in this thorough, accessible guide, it's easy to take good–quality ingredients and turn them into something sensational. Curing & Smoking begins with a detailed breakdown of any kit you might need (from sharp knives to sausage stuffers, for the gadget–loving cook) and an explanation of the preservation process – this includes a section showing which products and cuts are most suitable for different methods of curing and smoking. The second part of the book is organised by preservation method, with an introduction to each one, and comprehensive guidance on how to do it. And for each method, there are, of course, many delicious recipes! These include chorizo Scotch eggs, salt beef, hot smoked mackerel, home–made gravadlax ... and your own dry–cured streaky bacon sizzling in the breakfast frying–pan.
With an introduction by Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall, this book is the go–to guide for anyone who wants to smoke, brine or air–dry their way to a happier kitchen.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Steven Lamb has been involved with River Cottage since the very beginning, hosting events, living at HQ as the resident smallholder, and appearing regularly in the TV series and online. Working closely with Hugh Fearnley–Whittingstall and head chef Gill Meller, he represents River Cottage in the UK and abroad. He teaches at the cookery school, where he specialises in curing and smoking meat.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Systemic by Layal Liverpool, read by Diana Yekinni.
Racism is a public health crisis – and we can do something about it.
'A work of towering importance that will undoubtedly change science and save lives, but it will also change the way you see yourself and the people around you' Chris van Tulleken, author of Ultra–Processed People
A ground–breaking investigation into how racism corrodes science and medicine – leading to worse treatment for everyone.
What can you do when science and medicine are as biased as the society they treat? Black and Asian patients in the UK wait nearly a week longer for a cancer diagnosis and globally, people of colour are not only more likely to die while giving birth, they are also more likely to die while being born – or soon afterwards.
In Systemic, science journalist Layal Liverpool unearths the shocking facts behind the health threat of racism, and when a scientific bias is this pronounced, it results in worse treatment for everyone. We are collectively more ill, medical research is held back and our potential for scientific discoveries is reduced.
But there is hope for a cure – practical solutions that we can implement to heal our world. Individuals can learn to advocate for themselves and others with scientifically backed data in the face of structural prejudice. Governments can enact policies aimed at tackling systemic inequities on a national level. Drawing on years of research, interviews and cutting–edge data from across the world, Systemic is a clarion call for a healthier world for us all.
'A groundbreaking, brilliantly argued book that debunks the myth that illness is the great equaliser' Siddhartha Mukherjee, Pulitzer Prize winning–author of The Emperor of All Maladies and The Song of the Cell
‘Liverpool is a wonderful researcher and this shines through in her writing. Systemic provides a powerful examination on racism in healthcare’ Annabel Sowemimo, author of Divided

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Seventeen–year–old Hannah Lynn has just one goal: to get out of Evans Beach, Maine. It's where she lost her mother to cancer. Where her estranged sister, Pauline, fell apart before moving out. Where her father, Larry, holds court as a local legend who once played for the Red Sox. Hannah has never fit in, but that doesn't matter now that she is finally on the cusp of escaping to her dream college.
Then her life is turned upside down when Pauline's two sons are taken by the state, leaving Hannah and Larry the only people standing between the boys and the child welfare system. Her father wants to provide them with kinship care and promises that it will only be for a little while, just until Pauline gets back on her feet.
When her father's health declines Hannah must make a soberingly adult decision: is she willing to give up her dream and raise her nephews on her own or can she let them be placed in the foster care system?
Unflinching yet ultimately hopeful, Just Until is a heart–wrenching tale of the weight some teenagers carry when no one else can do it for them—one that will linger with listeners long after the end.

THE NEXT SENSATION FROM THE AUTHOR OF I WHO HAVE NEVER KNOWN MEN
There's a voice in Aline's head: a voice that wants out.
Brash, boisterous and sexually adventurous, this voice seems to be the antithesis of Aline, a prim literature professor for whom each day promises to be as quiet and conventional as the last.
That is until, after thirty–five years of imprisonment, her alter ego breaks free.
Taking on a life of his own, Orlanda—Aline's second self—slips into the taut, rugged body of a young man. As Aline continues unaware, Orlanda follows, dragging gleeful chaos in his wake, vowing to leave both their existences forever altered.
A bewitching fable, an androgynous dream, Orlanda is one woman's reckoning with all the hidden sides of her soul.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents Trespasses by Louise Kennedy, read by Brid Brennan
THE NO. 1 BESTSELLER (The Times), SHORTLISTED FOR THE WOMEN'S PRIZE FOR FICTION 2023
'Intense, unflinchingly honest, it broke my heart a million times' MARIAN KEYES
'A beautiful, devastating novel' NICK HORNBY
One by one, she undid each event, each decision, each choice.
If Davy had remembered to put on a coat.
If Seamie McGeown had not found himself alone on a dark street.
If Michael Agnew had not walked through the door of the pub on a quiet night in February in his white shirt.
There is nothing special about the day Cushla meets Michael, a married man from Belfast, in the pub owned by her family. But here, love is never far from violence, and this encounter will change both of their lives forever.
As people get up each morning and go to work, school, church or the pub, the daily news rolls in of another car bomb exploded, another man beaten, killed or left for dead. In the class Cushla teaches, the vocabulary of seven–year–old children now includes phrases like ‘petrol bomb’ and ‘rubber bullets’. And as she is forced to tread lines she never thought she would cross, tensions in the town are escalating, threatening to destroy all she is working to hold together.
Tender and shocking, Trespasses is an unforgettable debut of people trying to live ordinary lives in extraordinary times.

BOOK DESCRIPTION
Bloomsbury presents In Kiltumper by Niall Williams and Christine Breen, read by Niall Williams and Christine Breen.
Poignant ... A meditation on life, love and the importance of nature' IRISH TIMES
When they were in their twenties, Niall Williams and Christine Breen made the impulsive decision to leave New York City and move to Christine’s ancestral home in the town of Kiltumper in rural Ireland. In the decades that followed, the pair dedicated themselves to writing, gardening and living a life that followed the rhythms of the earth.
In 2019, with Christine in the final stages of recovery from cancer and the surrounding land threatened by the arrival of turbines, Niall and Christine decided to document a year – in words and Christine's drawings – of living in their garden and in their small corner of a rapidly changing world. Proceeding month by month through the year, this is the story of a garden in all its many splendours, and a couple who have made their life observing its wonders.
